1329703 tn?1275158081 I have a deviated septum that was found when my allergy shots started working but I still couldn't breathe through my nose. I also have mild sinus issues with them clogging and a mild infection (normally my immune system gets it under control within a week or so). I have the surgery in a couple of weeks so I can't comment on the long term affects yet but I'm hopeful it will help!
Avatar f tn Just read your posting from six months ago as I explore why I had a severely deviated septum and it struck a chord. I had septoplasty, sinus surgery and turbinate reduction two years ago and it was the best thing I had done for myself in years. Unfortunately, I did not realize my problem until I was in my early 50s after suffering countless sinus infections while dealing with severe environmental allergies that were all diminishing my quality of life.
Avatar n tn I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
Avatar n tn So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that. He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ... I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Avatar m tn it revealed several polyps through out my sinuses, pus in my left cheek sinus, and airpocket in another sinus, deviated septum and my turbinates are 4x larger then they should be .im on xyzyal which is like zyrtec, veramyst, singular and i take claritin every day...
Avatar m tn I've been diagnost with a deviated septum and excercised induced astma and was wondering if any one had septum fixed? Would it help with sinus infections and breathing for asthma? Any deviated septum repair stories out there?
Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, the important causes needed to be ruled out are Deviated nasal septum (DNS) and allergic rhinitis. These conditions can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. Recurrent infection is sign of low immunity. You need to increase immunity by proper nutritious food, regular exercise, mental fitness etc.
Avatar m tn I also had a CT scan done on my sinus area and was told it was clear. I would like to mention that I had deviated septum surgery about five years ago. These issues are really starting to affect my quality of life, and feel I feel hopeless. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn but after I was crying for a really long time a few days ago (2+ hours) I’ve noticed on the left side of my face (which is where my deviated septum is pointed towards.) that i feel pressure and ear pressure etc on that side. Which then i noticed a annoying slightly cold air feeling when breathing in. Now i usually only notice it when i’m hyper focused on it and there’s rare occasion where i’ve been distracted recently and didn’t notice it at all.
Avatar f tn Starting last fall I was short of breath. I had a complete cardiac workup with no problems found. I had a brain MRI with and w/o contrast. Along with a small lesion, they found I had sinus issues. I was sent to an ENT Specialist, who put me on prednisone and an antibiotic for 30days. I still had the chronic runny nose, dripping, so was sent for a CT of my sinus'. my sinus are almost shut down, and I have a severe deviated septum. I will have surgery in August.
Avatar f tn I guess I should start with the fact that my husband has been suffering with this for 4 years. he never had any problems with sinuses or allergies or really anything until he worked in fiberglass for 10 months. Now he has constant pressure on his eyes, ears, and head. His throat closes or is so raw that he can't eat. We have found one doctor that dx a sever deviated septum. Unfortunately he needs 4,000.00 to fix something that might not even help. has anyone ever had a septum fixed?
Avatar f tn Hi, the common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches. Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc. You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.

Avatar f tn Hi, Did you ever find out what was causing your ear issues? I have the exact same thing, deviated septum and ear has pressure/muffled hearing. Thanks!

Avatar n tn My Dr ordered a CT scan a year ago and said i had a deviated septum and some nasal polyps. I generally take Flonase. About a week ago the allergies and sinuses really got a hold of me and i had horrible sinus pressure, felt really spacey, had ear fullness and pain, felt a little off but no ear infection. I got put on a antibiotic. I then just started the Flonase back up. One day i felt short of breath off and on. I also took a Zyrtec.
Avatar f tn I went to an EET and had sinus surgery done a few years ago to open up for drainage and to repair a deviated septum. However, since then the pressure and lightheadedness is getting worse and adding to the equation I've got fullness in my ears. Sometimes at night it's all I can do to stand it; the pressure is so bad. I've been to the doctor complaining several times and he says it's "Indiana sinuses". I just don't know where to turn or what to do.
Avatar f tn Everyone here has deviated septum and had sudden profound hearing loss? Yes?
Avatar m tn Your chronic sinisitus, and allergies are aggravated by the deviated septum, because it blocks proper nasal breathing, and moisture into your nose, and draining causing inflammation and infection from all the dryness. I am curious will they let you have your deviated septum fixed? because i have the same deviated septum as well. Just a little warning, you might be more sensitive to the older generation drugs, they can be powerful, but they may cause major side effects.
Avatar m tn Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract, allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses.Diagnosis is confirmed by x-rays and CT sinuses.Treatment includes antibiotics(for acute attacks),decongestants, corticosteroids(nasal sprays and oral) and surgery in severe cases.Pls consult an ENT specialist and get it evaluated. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn For temporary relief, since your septum is deviated to the left, you can lie in bed on your right side and if you notice after 5 min your septum will fall towards the right giving you more breathing room on the left. The question on whether or not you will need to go through the operation would be best suited for your doctor to advise you on.
Avatar f tn I moved to a small country town in 2005. Had septoplasty to repair deviated septum. had allergy testing done and allergy shots. It was 6 months before I had a sinus infection after surgery. I have used NeilMed saline rinse for 6 years, and it truly cleanses the nostrils. I am a faithful uses, morning and evening. I have daily headaches, I sleep elevated. I take Zyrtec at night. Sudafed, alavert, and benadryl for a severe allergy due to grass, trees etc.
Avatar m tn My dietary advice still stands, but there is nothing about the diet that can fix a deviated septum. If the deviated septum is preventing you from breathing properly during sleep, then I think you should do what you need to do to get it fixed. Then you can ALSO address systemic inflammation, if you are still having symptoms. Again, best of luck.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a severely deviated septum on the left side and was getting a Covid swab by an overzealous nurse. She poked me all the way up the left side where my septum was deviated, felt resistance and kept going. I felt a sudden bout of pain and she finally retracted the swab. Two days later I wake up with clear salty liquid dripping down my throat. I also have a massive daily headache, eye pressure and sensitivity to light.
