So I went to the ENT today and had them stick that scope up my nose and apparently I have a pretty bad deviated septum ... he gave me a script for a nasal spray and an antibiotic but I'm not sure what the antibiotic is for, I don't like taking antibiotics if I don't have to so I'm hesitant to take that.
He mentioned surgery but for the possible future ...
I'm hoping the nasal spray will help the allergies and the post nasal drip ...
Starting last fall I was short of breath. I had a complete cardiac workup with no problems found. I had a brain MRI with and w/o contrast. Along with a small lesion, they found I had sinus issues. I was sent to an ENT Specialist, who put me on prednisone and an antibiotic for 30days. I still had the chronic runny nose, dripping, so was sent for a CT of my sinus'. my sinus are almost shut down, and I have a severe deviated septum. I will have surgery in August.
My husband had deviated septum surgery several years ago to help aleviate his severe headaches which are connected to his sinuses. It didn't help AT ALL. He still suffers terrible headaches and sinus pressure. We paid a lot of money only for him to be in a lot of pain for a few days and he also had a nasal hemmorage afterward which was pretty scary.
Hi, the common cause for sinusitis is Deviated nasal septum (DNS). This condition leads to obstruction. This can lead to sinus infection, ear infection and headaches.
Other possibilities are laryngeal web, asthma, any structural abnormalities in the nasal passage such as nasal polyps, hypertrophied turbinates etc.
You need to undergo detailed examination of nose and radiography of the sinuses to rule out existing sinusitis.
is it because my deviated septum is visibly crooked there? (you can see my septum on the inside of my left nostril) and the hole to breathe in is smaller? or is it the allergies/small sinus infection? or could it even be really bad Anxiety making me feel this way? Any response is greatly appreciated. Or if somebody else has had this as well that would be great.

IK went for a hearing test...perfect hearing but a 'typanogram" test showed I have Euchstation tube dysfunction on right...they told me to live with it and that I should not have tubes put in as an adult...told me to have septum correction surgery instead...
I went to an EET and had sinus surgery done a few years ago to open up for drainage and to repair a deviated septum. However, since then the pressure and lightheadedness is getting worse and adding to the equation I've got fullness in my ears. Sometimes at night it's all I can do to stand it; the pressure is so bad. I've been to the doctor complaining several times and he says it's "Indiana sinuses". I just don't know where to turn or what to do.

I am due to have a septoplasty for a deviated septum and the turbinate reduction surgery the end of March. My left turbinate is swollen on the side of the deviation. I have had coblation surgery (where they use Radio-frequency to shrink the turbinate). We only shrunk the front of my inferior turbinate. This did well for about 19 months (until I caught a cold back at Thanksgiving). Then the swelling started all over again- now in the back part of my turbinate.
I have seen an ENT and had a CAT scan. The result was that I had a slightly deviated septum and could have surgery, but he said there's no way of knowing whether or not it would help. Also, he said that though an allergist will test for common allergins, it's impossible to test for all allergins, so that could be a cause as well. I do not have the money to pay for surgery, especially if there is no guarentee it will even help at all.
I suggested maybe it was my sinuses, he did a CT scan of them and said my sinuses were clear, but I do have a severely deviated septum, which I do not think is contributing to these problems, since I have had no injuries to my nose, this would lead me to believe that I have had this issue all of my life (deviated septum). I have been checked for thyroid problems twice and my BP is good. I have seen a dentist and do not have TMJ or any abscesses.
Chronic sinusitis can be caused by infections of the upper respiratory tract,allergies and deviated nasal septum .Other suspected causes include mold or fungi in the sinuses.Diagnosis is confirmed by x-rays and CT sinuses.Treatment includes antibiotics(for acute attacks),decongestants,corticosteroids(nasal sprays and oral) and surgery in severe cases.Pls consult an ENT specialist and get it evaluated.

Hello, I wanted to know the risksof having a deviated septum fixed. I had this problem for over 10 years and it seems to keep coming back. I had it fix twice before. I am noticing that the cartilage in my nose seems less so I am concerned. I don't want to have to keep getting surgery to correct my deviated septum. Is there any other options (besides nose sprays)?

My teenage son had this as outpatient surgery two days ago. Day one was pretty rough, so keep current on those painkillers. His doctor's advice; use bags of frozen peas instead of ice packs - they mold to the face better. The cold really helps. He also told me to get an over the counter spray called "simply saline" to spray right in the nose to keep it moist.
The headaches were also on the left side due to pressure from the clogged nostril. He told me I had a deviated septum. I scheduled surgery that day because he said he could fix my problem and make it easier to breathe. Well he did make it easier to breathe out of the clogged side, but he moved the septum too far and now I cannot breathe out of what was my "good" side. My headaches are worse than they were before the surgery.
Hi, a deviated nasal septum can cause an obstruction to breathing and correction will ensure that your symptoms will improve. But this may not help correct the post nasal drip. Post nasal drip could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. These can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens.
I hope the title doesn't seem too silly, but yes, I haven't been able to find a slow breathing technique that works for me in the last 2 years. I can't breathe through my nose really well, deviated septum. ENT's told me to fix my anxiety before contemplating any surgery. And then I clench because I have TMJ, that is a work in progress. I breathe abdominally but I constantly feel jammed up around the neck and mouth.
I was diagnosed as having chronic sinusitus, nasal polyps and a deviated septum. I am tired all the time, get shaky, sore throat, ear pain, can often hear my heartbeat very loudly in my ear, feel really slow and dumb, confused, pressure behind the eye, vision changes, my eyes hurt all the time, dry, gritty feeling and almost feel like I'm staring. I feel like my voice changes (which nobody can tell).
I get like this from time to time. After many scans found out I do have a slight bone spur and deviated nasal septum-means its crooked- but, alas it does not STAY blocked up because I alternate out of each side blowing junk out of it and my ENT actually said if it were 100% blocked I'd never breath out of the side thats blocked not blow a bunch of stuff out and then (temporarily) feel better.
