Avatar m tn My husband appears to have Anhedonia depression as a result of answering a questionnaire on depression. He simply gets no pleasure out of live regardless of what he is doing. He also refuses medication, but is willing to go to a class (not counseling) and/or read. What do you suggest? He is 60, and I often find it very depressing to deal with. Help!
Avatar m tn But time and time again, whenever I ever have occasional bouts of depression...and even severe depression. Primrose Oil has worked like a godsend. I even told my sister to try it , and she couldn't believe it either. Whenever i'm very irritable , angry , depressed , anxious.. I take a 1000 MG's of Primrose Oil a day...and ALL OF THAT goes away. I feel soooo calm and relaxed everyday after. It only takes a day or 2 to start working. and by the 3rd day, you'll definately notice it.
Avatar f tn I suffered from depression/anxiety (more on the depressive side) for years. I was taking Celexa and it was working great and then I tried to get off of it but was having depression/anxiety when lowering the dose. I went to a new doc because I moved and he says I have a mood disorder and that I need to take a different type of medicine than SSRI's. So he had me on Lamictal. He said since SSRI's give me anxiety, and have been giving me alot of side effects that I am on the wrong type of meds.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone has been on birth control pills and have suffered from anxiety or depression issues? I have been on the pill for 11yrs now and cant take how I am feeling anymore. I went on the pill for irregular periods, but since then I have been feeling blah, libido has decreased severely, I have sinus problems- I found out I have no allergies- so I think it is related to axiety, I worry constantly about everything; I get so nervous I get light headed sometimes.
2217782 tn?1394367572 My doctor has a questionnaire with specific questions to ascertain if you have depression. Mine asks when I am really bad, and then in time, when I have been on anti-depressants, will ask the same questions again. You can ask your GP is you can be referred. In most towns there is a Community Mental Health Team. He may refer you to them. You can, or your partner can, ask if you can see a psychiatrist, as you feel the need to see one.
Avatar f tn Medications need to be taken for a few weeks before any benefit is felt. But if you stop the medication once the depression is under control, the depression return. We all have ups and downs, but if you have been feeling very low for a few weeks, you do require help. If you have been feeling low for over a few, make a appointment to see your doctor and discuss how you feel with him.
Avatar f tn It has since been recognized as 'ADHD' or 'ADD', and is very real. It's also common to have/be ADHD along with bipolar, depression, etc. And no, everyone does NOT have it. Perhaps she was trying to make you feel better, like 'you're not alone'? Giving her the benefit of doubt...
Avatar f tn My son was diagnosed with ADHD 5 years ago. Been on medication for 3 years increased meds nov 12, had meeting with senco and have been informed the teachers think because his medication is now correct for ADHD he is showing traits of asd. The senco wants an accambac ( not sure how its spelt) questionaire to be sent to school and myself from his ADHD doctor. Is this questionaire for a new diagnosis or to confirm he has both asd and ADHD.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry for all you're enduring. It does sound like you have depression which makes me wonder what the medication is your doctor gave you. If it is an antidepressant then you're on the right track. You should also consider some therapy to help you cope better and determine if this is all a result of losing both parents....which would send anyone into a depression! There are grief counselors who can help you as well.

Avatar f tn could be due to stress or depression, can you go to the docs and say how youv been feeling? they can get you to do a depression questionnaire. if you need counselling they can refer you. is there anything bothering you at the moment? what thoughts go through your mind? it sounds like you need to talk to someone, so i suggest starting with your doc. good luck.
Avatar f tn anaemia can cause extreme tiredness aswell as many other things like stress, anxiety, mentrual cycle, virus's. Are you any medication or any birth control? are you suffering from depression?
Avatar f tn 1.)suicidal thoughts 2.)affected cognition and energy levels. (if you feel it is harder to think properly or perform basic functions like getting out of bed to go to school. Basically if it is physically affecting you) 3.) Like Kay said, letting oneself go. losing interest in things, not caring for oneself, not bathing, general attitude of everything is pointless. But if you're suffering in any capacity you should see a doctor immediately.
Avatar n tn My wife has suffered from depression for over a decade but for the last five or six years she has kept it under control through the use of Effexor XR and for anxiety with Buspar as prescribed by her family physician. Upon learning that she was pregnant in 2003, with the knowledge of her doctor, she stopped using both. She was fine throughout the pregnancy but a month or two after the birth of our child she went back on both and has been feeling fine.
Avatar n tn the list of side effects is extensive. there are groups of people who absolutely hate it because of that (me included), and then there are those that it works very well for (usually people who have tried other anti-depressants, but felt no improvement - those who have treatment-resistant depression).
Avatar n tn But I fear that my continued commitment to losing weight will not amount to anything because of my history of depression. It is frustrating for me because I chose to see a mental health professional to improve myself, but in the long run this is reason for disqualification. I am not sure what to do at this point. As unbelievable as it may sound, they seem to give out medication for perceived mental illness without a full diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I've felt this way before. But it went away. History of anxiety and depression. I take no meds. Getting very anxious bout this fatigue cause its hard to function. But I do. Have been working Insane hours for boyut a year but sliding down now.
Avatar f tn There has been no outside source that could possibly be causing my depression this severe. I have a great life and am managing my lupus with medication and accupuncture. Anyone ever experience a coorelation between Lupus and Dipolar II Disorder?

7087196 tn?1389309719 He was given an assessment where his teacher filled out a questionnaire and his parents filled out a questionnaire as well. The diagnosis was borderline ADHD. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 15, was given Ritalin, and my behaviors became so much worse, wrong diagnosis. In 2005 was diagnosed with Bi-Polar. They have tried Celexa, Risperdal, Quafanicine (unsure of spelling) and they work for a very short time and his behavior gets worse then it was before.
1684282 tn?1505701570 Patients with severe depression as measured on the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire were even more likely to misuse opioids than were patients with no or moderate depression. Although this self-report of opioid misuse is already surprisingly high, it may well be even more common than reported in this study.
266660 tn?1189759434 Got down to 10mg Celexa but depression was terrible and had a panic attack before I was supposed to drive to my sister's rehearsal dinner with my father. Was prescribed Xanax to help through the wedding and it did help and I was able to be a groomsman and go to the reception. Due to anxiety and not wanting to miss my sister's wedding, a few days before I got back on my full dose of celexa (40mg).
Avatar n tn My baby is now 10 months old, and I still can't seem to get rid of my post-partum depression. I filled out a questionnaire last night online (found the link on the mothering dot commune site), and scored high enough that I was supposed to 'print this form and seek immediate help from a healthcare professional'. Now I think that's a little bit dramatic - more them covering their bottoms legally than anything else.
Avatar f tn See a psychiatrist and the two of you can decide which route of treatment would be best for you, therapy, medication or both. When depression hits us, we can feel hopeless, and it's sad that you've endured this since childhood! Suicide is never the answer, it may take you to an even darker place. You do want to live, just without these thoughts. With proper help you can have a normal, happy, fulfillling life. You're still young with so much living to do!
1316708 tn?1310919782 I also want to ask what you all think or whom ever may read this message, I'm wondering if I should do AA/NA? I was not taking the pain medication for getting a high. I took it for pain and I went on my own down from 80 mgs a day to 10 and stayed at that ten for a few years. So I don't find myself dealing with the wanting it part. I do find myself seeing life for the first time in a long time and I mess up but I'm seeing allot of that for the first time with open Eyes...
469720 tn?1388149949 The results of my search (below) are consistent with what everyone already knows. We are a heavily medicated country. There's a medication for every disorder. And the most frightening part of the whole equation is the rapidly increasing inclusion of children.
Avatar f tn So yeah, that often makes it harder for people who are anxious to sleep and often makes anxious people more anxious, but for depression stimulation can be really helpful and quite often, maybe most of the time, anxiety is a byproduct of depression. When that's the case, decreasing the depression decreases the anxiety too, and in those cases Effexor can be very helpful. This is a very effective med for depression, it's main problem is it's very hard to stop taking.
1255530 tn?1269871219 It seems like current research is heading in the direction of viewing bipolarity on a spectrum, from point A being pure unipolar depression to point B being "classic manic depression" [and some even extend the spectrum to schizophrenia at point C to account for schizoaffective disorder and the prevalence of psychotic symptoms in BP]. Basically, individuals with mood disorders will fall somewhere between these two points.
Avatar n tn This can manifest in several ways, and can be treated by for example SSRI drugs. There may also be subclinical depression which is a common cause for memory complaints - consider having him evaluetd by an adolescent psychologist or psychiatrist (there are some at CCF), to root this out. An MMPI - a detailed psychological/personality questionnaire would be useful also .
