Depo provera vs birth control pill

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera vs birth control pill

192918 tn?1199454779 He assured me that it would not harm the baby and wouldn't affect my milk supply at all. Has anyone been on the birth control pill while breastfeeding? What kind? How did it work for you? Any negative side affects at all (besides the usual with the pill)? Any info would be great. Thanks!
Avatar f tn This is a generalization but I would say return to ovulation with using your typical birth control pill is from 1 - 3 months. With Depo it's more common to be between 3 - 18 months or longer. This can vary from woman to woman depending on how your body responds to your birth control and if you have any underlying fertility problems you are unaware of.
Avatar f tn I've switched to the pill now but just started but after I had my son i wanted to try Depo-provera I got the shot until my son was six months old and I think it may have had something to do with my mood I started feeling really sad all the time and started getting chest pains and bad headaches I went to the er twice with chest pains and they did a ct scan and ekg and said everything was fine both times and they did a scan on my head to check for tumors and they said everything was fine with that
Avatar n tn Its all in my midsection (like I have a flotation device around my waist) and in my upper arms. I was put on elavil years ago for my headaches and that combined with the depo provera birth control and zoloft who knows what has caused it although i have taken all of those drugs in the past with no problems. I had blood work done and there were no problems.
Avatar n tn The phentermine has helped with my appetite of course this time around but unfortunately DOES nothing for my energy levels as before i guess because im so doped up oh and I have to take ambien to sleep now vs the elavil due to the weight thing. So to sum it all up Im taking Depo Provera or birth control Phentermine (diet pills) Cymbalta (for anxiety/depression) Buspar (half a pill for a few more days) Topomax Ambien Any thoughts???

1344197 tn?1392822771 The go on to state that hormonal therapy may decrease total mortality when started soon after menopause but does not appear to reduce mortality when started after age 60. An FDA survey on quality control of compounded drugs analyzed 29 compounded products from 12 compounders for sterility, potency, and uniformity. The found 10 of the 29 products (34%) of compounded drugs failed at least one quality test.
Avatar n tn HELP But I haven't gone to the doctor, because I don't have insurance and usually they just throw birth control at people like me. I don't want to take birth control.
Avatar n tn Still after all this, I would recommend it for anyone who cannot tolerate the hormones in birth control. I had tried every low hormone pill, ring, etc. The Paragard takes some getting used to, but its way better than the hormones and filling prescriptions once a month, etc. I hope this was helpful.
298579 tn?1192250448 com/health/ovarian-cysts/DS00129/DSECTION=symptoms There are others posts on reputable sites which indicate that some forms of birth control might cause pain, some bacterial infections may also cause pain. But, at least I am now armed with information to take to my gynie and demand he either look to see if either of these are the cause, or I'll find one who will. Good luck to all and here's to pain free sex again.
Avatar n tn (My gut feeling from reading all these other stories and my personal conditions tells me it has to do with some kind of yeast bacteria and the birth control pill affecting hormones - but what do we do about it!) Whenever I treat myself better: less stress, lots of water, take my vitamins, exercise, I get them fewer and further between - but I haven't had a time like that in a while.
Avatar n tn BUT BEFORE i had the IUD put in, i was on the Depo Provera... which is the shot form of birth control that lasts three months... i have had constant yeast and bacterial infections since i have been on the shot. Now i am on the IUD, and they both use the same hormones. this is just great (sarcastically speaking) to hear all of this about the IUD as well. i was really hoping after MANY (too many to count) years of dealing with the constant infections that my problems are not going to go away.
Avatar n tn I have been TTC for 4 months (this is currently our 5th), DH is 30 and I'm 28. Have been off Depo Provera Shot for 14 months and been having irregular periods for 10 months now. My cycle length varies from 12 - 20 days. I'm currently sitting at CD22 with no period, no cramps, bloating, or any of the AF symptoms I'm used to. Have been using OPK because of the irregular cycle length & this month ovulated on CD5 while I was still spotting from AF!
1160836 tn?1332333769 I don't have PCOS just simply haven't ovulated in 4 months. Last regular AF was November 09. All my other's have been Provera induced. Did clomid 50 mg last cycle and still didn't ovulate. This next cycle doing provera agian and clomid 100 mg. Hopefully I ovulated. Have my fingers crossed. SBD!
Avatar n tn I recently changed my birth control pill (2 months ago) to Microgestin. I am also taking an anti-fungal oral pill (for about 2 months as well) because my toenail fell off and I didn't want to get a fungus. Its called Terbinafine. I also take a Kirkland brand multi-vitamin each day. As far as my diet, well, I started eating a high-protein, lots of fruits & veggies diet about a month ago, but about 2 weeks ago, fell off the wagon.
280700 tn?1210287416 ok question. my husband and i have been off all forms of birth control for 2 years now and I have PCOS so i have never had a regular period. if i am lucky i have it without medication once a year. we are about to start our first round of clomid with metformin and i was wondering if there was anyone out there in a similar position or has been before? i am just wondering what my chances look like. i have never been pregnant before, this is will be our first time.
470885 tn?1326332637 BUT this time I agree with you, I'm ready for AF to show or not, so I can either be happy and pregnant, or better prepare myself for next month which would be my second cycle trying. Right now I'm just really worried my birth control messed me up, it was Aviane, a combo pill...stops ovulation completely. I wish I would have known that before I got took it, so I guess I'm really hoping AF starts because that way I know I did ovulate, right? You have to ovulate to have AF don't you?
Avatar n tn tingling in the hands, fingers, feet, and toes, combined with changing my birth control at the same time I started Topomax, the depression was a suicide cocktail, a severe lack of concentration (I actually failed my Psychology class), not to mention after driving to the same place for three weeks in a row, I still had to ask the other person in the car how to get there: DOPAMAX? I’d say so!
Avatar n tn I am 30 years old and I have a mild case of lupus that has been under control with plaquinil over the past ten years. My Obgyn took me off of birth control pills in August because she thought that was what was causing this, but I still have the episodes and they are getting closer and closer together. I had an MRA and MRI in September that both came back normal. My neurologist has put me on neurontin three times a day, but that isn't helping either.
162948 tn?1205256292 I had mine for two years and took it out only because my BF and I are trying to have a baby. The Mirena was the best birth control I ever had in my life! This is also true of several of my friends. You can technically conceive immediately after the removal, but it may take a little longer than that. Much less time than w/the pill, though. Hang in there.
Avatar n tn Will the B12 shot cause problems, if you're taking birth control? Any ladies taking birth control while using the B12 shot?
1294995 tn?1330666336 I'm 4 days past provera and nothing yet. I'm getting alittle worried because I've been on provera like 6 times and almost always like clock work I get it two days after stopping it. I'll wait until it's been 7 days past then I'll call my dr. Didn't realize I could wish so much for AF :-) Well I have enjoyed this day off. Back to work tomorrow. Hope you all had a great weekend :-) SSBD!!!!
Avatar n tn i have been heavily spotting since last night, its not blood, just dark brown. could this be implantion bleeding or just from getting off the pill? PLEASE help!!
Avatar n tn My sister got very sick and we think it is because she didn't drink enough water or oolong tea, but we are trying to find out anyone that has info about it. She is also on a progesterone birth control pill which was ok'd by the clinic we are using. I've lost 75.2 lbs with HCG and didn't experience any bad side effects but I am not on b/c pills so our situations aren't exactly the same. Thx!
Avatar n tn I had been with the same man (who'd had a vasectomy) up until about 6 months ago and am now engaged to another man who is fertile. Assuming I could not conceive, I used no birth control. The past 2 weeks I've felt different--like I could be pregnant. I go to the doctor 9/11. What were your circumstances? I want info on this please...
1647691 tn?1363727302 It doesn't seem like it would get very good results and there would only be one egg vs several with a regular cycle, right? Just wondering...I've heard of it, but I don't know a lot about it. glad you found us! I think your plan for choosing a new egg donor sounds like a good one.
Avatar n tn Hi, thank you, i hope so, ive had some signs that arent from the shot or pills but a lot that are caused by them, the truth will be revealed in 4 days and i am 'jump on the couch' excited =) but of course i wont! right now, i am EXHAUSTED, it just hit me, i took a pill a little while ago and ate and my eyes are so heavy right now i want to just lay down under my desk and dissapear!! im slightly dizzy too! im keeping possitive and reaching to my faith in God!
