Depo provera return to fertility

Common Questions and Answers about Depo provera return to fertility

depo-provera

Avatar f tn I don't know the actual percentages, but among people we counsel it seems to take much less time for women on the pill to start ovulating again and get pregnant vs ones using Depo-Provera. This is a generalization but I would say return to ovulation with using your typical birth control pill is from 1 - 3 months. With Depo it's more common to be between 3 - 18 months or longer.
Avatar n tn I can assure you from my experience she will not be pregnant as it takes between 5 months to over a year for the Depo to leave her body after her last injection. I am trying for a baby and have been on the Depo for over a month and still nothing has happened. Don't let it worry you to much if i'm wrong come back and shout at me.
Avatar f tn It takes awhile to get back to normal, but be prepared and use protection as your fertility could return quickly. Most women don't get a period for another 6-9 months after stopping depo. You can be fertile any time before that though it isn't likely. My obgyn told me to stop 18 months before I wanted to get pregnant because it can take a long time. Other side effects vary, I had headaches and mild cramping, when my periods began they were very light and a lot of brownish color blood.
Avatar f tn Hi there, Once you are off depovera it may take some time for your periods to return to normal. Depo-Provera is a hormone shot which is a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy, and a woman needs six to eight months to let the hormone clear before she will be able to menstruate and be able to conceive. It may take some time to conceive but depo does not inhibit fertility. Return of menstruation implies normal ovulation. But rarely the cycles can be anovulatory.
Avatar f tn I have read up on the process, and apparently it can take anywhere from 6-18 months to return to normal mentral cycles, and sometimes even returning to fertility. Have you had any luck since your last post? Please do keep me up to date on when you return to normal, as I am patiently awaiting mine.
Avatar f tn I suggest that you consult your gynecologist and get yourself examined to rule out other causes of not conceiving as it has been close to 2 years since you have stopped the depo shot and fertility should return by this time. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Because DMPA persists in the body for several months in women who have used it on a long-term basis, it can delay the return to fertility. Approximately 70% of former users desiring pregnancy conceive within 12 months, and 90% of former users conceive within 24 months. Similar to the delay in fertility after discontinuation of DMPA, other adverse effects, such as weight gain, depression, and menstrual irregularities, may continue for as long as 1 year after the last injection.
Avatar n tn Hi I was on depo and after hearing that they gave it to inmates in prison to keep the rape down I stopped having it I think it really screws up your hormones you dont even want to think about sex alot of birth controls do that I have tryed several different forms of birth control I think condems are the best because they dont play with your natural hormones I know it cant take several years for your body to return to normal after getting depo I talked to my docter about depo I recommend you wait
Avatar n tn But as she said, she would do anything in her power to ruin my life.. Well. She hasnt done it until she forced me to get Depo Provera. I dont think or act like myself now. I feel like a five year old. My hormones are stopped. I'm not growing the same - I'm not feeling the same, or talking the same, or thinking the same, and everyone is noticing. This is not at all how i normally think. My ambition and personality is affectedd too ..I also completely lost all my sex drive.
Avatar n tn I did a lot of research on this as I had been on it 9 years, everything I've read suggests that fertility and hormones return to normal between 6-12 months after the last injection. I understand u only had one shot of this but that's enough to un-sync your body :( I started taking folic acid in a bid to help my period return. My Periods returned 7 months after stopping the depo shot.

Avatar f tn Hello, If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. Ovulation may return earlier and hence you can try for pregnancy when ovulation returns. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
1012558 tn?1250893022 i had my first depo shot december 09 and im due to get my second shot march 11th. my only concern is that i've had a light period for 2 and 1/2 weeks and i just need to know how long it takes for it to stop.
Avatar n tn I heard it can take up to 9 months for fertility to return, I'm just wondering if there is anything that exsists to reverse the shot?
Avatar f tn I wonder what the difference between the two depo shots are and I wonder why my gyno recommended the other depo shot if the depo-subq provera 104 shot is specific for endo ?
Avatar n tn I have been trying to eat well and clense with milk thistle to try to hasten the exit of the Depo. At the beginning of this week,I developed a yeast infection and did the 1 day Monistat. It seemed to work after 3/4 of a day, but now the yeast infection is seeming like it's back. Ugh. I'm wondering if there is more that I can do to get it out of me or something I should request of my Dr?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, wanted to know how long it takes for depo to run out of your system.Supposed to get shot end of this month but we decided to skip and try to conceive.Wanted to wait til next Feb to try but was hearing that it takes awhile to run its course,,, any answers out there. Looking for advice..
Avatar f tn I've had two shots my 3rds due on 15th feb but I'm not having anymore as I've spotted for nearly 5 months none stop- does this mean I release an egg that comes out with the spotting blood and do you think ill return to my periods and cylce quicker because of my body's poor response to the hormones? Also I want to switch to mycrogynon do I have to wait for my periods or can you take it from the day your injections due?
Avatar f tn And what did you had to do to get pregnant aftef the depo? Because I know that its hard to get pregnant after it..
Avatar n tn Can this be related to the shot. My gny has offered to put on a fertility drug to help me get pregnant. What do you think? I would appreciate any information you could give me. Thanks!
Avatar n tn My only advice would be to avoid taking the pill just to stop the bleeding because all this does is cover up the depo after effects and if you ever decide to come back off the pill, the depo effects tend to kick back in. You've got to let your system recover and completely flush out the evil that is depo before fiddling around with more ridiculous time wasting hormones!
Avatar n tn Just say no to Depo-Provera. It is used for child molesters to chemically castrate them, so that they will not molest again. It takes their "mojo" away. See: http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn Hello, to everyone reading this. I have taken two depo shots that where not back to back and my last one has wore off. This may sound like tmi but I was wondering if anyone has went through this. I have had discharge for the past 4 days, I was wondering if my period was close. My husband and I are ttc.
Avatar n tn Following DepoProvera, the average time for return of fertility is 5 months and some patients take longer for menses to return. thus, November is 6 months from May and very close to the average time when periods should have resumed. Provera is the short-acting, oral component of Depo-Provera. It is given to test whether your body has resumed making estrogen because it has cleared all of the Depo-Provera. If it has, the Provera will change the uterine lining into a form that will bleed away.

Avatar f tn The period usually returns after stopping the shots, however, it can take 3 months to a year for the effects of Depo-Provera to wear off and fertility to return.
Avatar n tn I am praying and asking god to strink the rest of this cyst, so I can move on with my life. I am scheduled to go and see another fertility doctor in 2 weeks, to talk about if I need to get surgery. I only have one ovary and tub, left and I am praying, they can save it so that I can conceive a child/children. At times, I do feel like I am pregnant but I know when the time is right GOD will heal me and take this away.
