I NEED SOMEONES HELP BECAUSE MY DOCTOR IS NOT HELPING ME. SHE DOESN'T EVEN THINK DEPO IS THE PROBLEMS. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Avatar n tn If it weren't for the mood swings and depression and loss of sex drive I would get back on it! The hair loss didn't bother me cause I wore my hair short anyway and I so welcomed the weight gain because I was 125 pnds. With these huge boobs and my body didn't look right it was out of proportion. But once I got married I had no problem getting pregnant. It took about 2mths to get a period but I wasn't complaining because they were so painful anyway.
Avatar n tn I have one friend that gained 15 lbs in three months on depo and i have another friend who suffered from hair loss while on depo. The key is just finding a birth control method that works for you and for your body and remember that all birth control have some sort of side effect.
Avatar n tn I was on depo for 1 year. (I'm 25 now, 23 at the depo time) I gained 50 pounds, had terrible mood swings, depression, bone loss, fatigue and some minor other problems. I suffer from knee/joint pain now because depo causes you to loose calcium in your bones. If you choose to go with it, make sure you start a calcuim supplament right away. I honestly would suggest researching into any drug before you commit to it. Some people I know have had really good luck with it.
432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar f tn I wonder what the difference between the two depo shots are and I wonder why my gyno recommended the other depo shot if the depo-subq provera 104 shot is specific for endo ?
Avatar n tn It can take 12-18 months for Depo Provera to be completely out of your system. But probably much less since you only had once shot.
Avatar n tn well i have used the depo shot before ,i just recently started having hair loss and my daughter is now 4 months this is the first timefor me
Avatar f tn i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.
Avatar f tn My main concern is hair loss, I've read horror stories about people losing all their hair on Depo Lupron, or if becoming thinner. My hair is very very thin and I'm younger than 25 I do not want to lose my hair.. Also, did anyone have their periods return after treatment? Previous to my diagnosis with Endo I was on the Depo Shot birth control, and currently on the nexplanon paired with Noethindrone to stop my bleeding. The birth controls alone did not stop the constant brown bleeding.
Avatar n tn But everyone is different and reacts differently to depo. Some people even get pregnant while on depo or once they stop it. Usually it stays in your system from 12-18 months. I stopped depo in Nov 04 and started BCP's to regualte my periods. Then in Aug 05 I stopped BCP's to TTC. Because the depo was still in my system and I just got of BCP's I didnt have a period without the help of provera until Dec 05. I now am almost 21 weeks pregnant.

Avatar n tn maybe you should get checked out anyway, if your in a lot of pain don't take the chance. Depo Side Effects One of the major side effects of depo provera is the irreversible loss of bone density with prolonged use. This may also lead to the higher risk of osteoporosis in women. Therefore, it is always recommended that you should not use this contraceptive for more than two years. Women are also advised to exercise and take in a lot of calcium while using this method.
Avatar m tn Is there any way medication which people with pcos can take to help them with weight loss? What i have read suggests that the only way to control it is through diet and exercise. I'm asking because my friend who has recently been told that it is likely she may have PCOS goes running for an hour a day and never eats heavily but still manages to put on weight easily. e.g last week she put on over a stone despite exercising and eating well everyday.
Avatar n tn I've been taking 500mg metformin myself and I have not experienced any weight loss. I am actually taking it for diabetes treatment. But it has not helped with my weight loss.
Avatar n tn Other side effects of Depo Provera can include headaches, nervousness, mood changes, bloating, hot flashes, decreased interest in sex, breast tenderness, acne, hair loss, and back ache. After the last shot of Depo Provera, it can take over 6 months for the drug to leave the body. Side effects may linger until the drug is completely gone.
363110 tn?1340924019 Hey ladies, I thought I'd put this warning out there since many women DO NOT KNOW about a certain risk with Depo. Depo Provera has been given a Black Box warning label from the FDA because it can cause bone density lost. The makers reccomend that after 3 years of being on depo you begin getting your Bone Density checked 1x a year. Because bone density loss can lead to osteoporosis or brittle bones. Some doctors reccomend Depo for no longer than 3 years because of this risk.
Avatar n tn i was on depo after the birth of my son 8 yrs ago. the side affects are evil...i call depo the death shot...thats how bad it is. it dried up my breast milk, made me sick, gain 70 lbs, lose my concentration, lose my sex drive, vaginal dryness, lost hair, made me so moody that they thought i had bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, and depression. NEVER TAKE THAT POISON AGAIN. it has been 18 mos since i have been off of it and i am still infertile from it.
Avatar f tn Just a few observations- I see a pattern of Pantene users getting this condition, plus hormone changing events associated as well. I know female hormones can cause hair loss, and increased inflammation in in tissue including gums and scalp. So, maybe these changes cause some bacterial increase or inflammation in the scalp that Listerine clears up. Clarifying shampoo removes oils and buildup, so probably clears these to allow Listerine to soak in do its thing.
Avatar n tn I used to have a lot thicker hair, now it's very fine and relatively thin. After about 5 months being off the pill, the hair loss lessened, but regrowth has never come for me. Hair growth is hormonal so it only makes sense that some people may experience hair loss as a result of altering their hormonal state. Pregnant women often experience hair loss either during or after pregnancy. It does happen, though how to address your situation is always a personal decision.
Avatar f tn Irregular menstrual periods, or no periods at all Headaches Nervousness Depression Dizziness Acne Changes in appetite Weight gain Excessive growth of facial and body hair Hair loss Loss of bone mineral density Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots.
3113005 tn?1341777434 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
Avatar f tn I was on birth control pills for 3 years ( stopped taking them 3 years ago) and I was on Depo-Provera for 6 months (stopped getting the needles due to hair loss and constant menses) I stopped depo-provera 26 months ago. At this point my gyn has no clue what to do next and I am getting worried that I will never have a child of my own. What should my next step be, what else can I do?
5484624 tn?1368658463 The only guaranteed way that you won't get pregnant is if you do not have sex. The side effects of Depo-provera is weight gain, loss of calcium in developing bones as well as: •Irregular, heavy or loss of menstrual cycle. The chances of getting periods reduces the longer you take the injections, though normal cycles should resume within 14 weeks of stopping the birth control.
