depo-provera

432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn My husband and I are TTC and I took the Depo shot twice and stopped 11/04 and then started BCP till 8/05 and havent had a period since except with provera. I think the Depo is still in my system and is screwing everything up. I hope the provera works for you and best of luck with the clomid.
Avatar f tn You had started with Depo provera shots in late June and have got prolonged bleeding since July. I assure you that there is no need to panic. Heavy and prolonged bleeding are common side effects of starting Depo shots and usually it takes 3 months for such menstrual irregularities to settle down.Depo shots are to be given every three months, so for the first shot this kind of menstrual irregularity can occur.
Avatar f tn I've just turned 18 and I've been using the depo shot for at least 7 months because the pill was making me sick. When I asked my Nurse about depo she just told me about the positives which left me very much in the dark about this contraception.Since starting my shots I have gained 14LBS in just SEVEN months!!I have gone back to the nurse since and explained that my diet and exercise hasn't changed but I'm gaining weight, she wasn't exactly sympathic and insisted I eat less!
Avatar n tn I have been on depo for 11 years. I would be due for my next shot on 9/27 but my Doctor has advised that I stop having it. She has been treating me for migraines and depression with Imitrex (when needed) and a daily dosage of Prozac of 10mg. The Imitrex thankfully, works, and the migraines have also been lessened by the Prozac.
Avatar n tn i had been on depo provera for 5 years[ive been off for 8 months now and no period my doc. put me on provera to start my period ,i have been on it for 8 days now, still no period, and i have been having unprotected sex,can i get preg.
Avatar n tn Well I didnt have AF and most likely it was due to me previously being on Depo Provera in 2004 and BC pills. So in December 2005 my Dr gave me provera. I took it for 7 days 10mg and I got AF 2 days later...usually you get AF anywhere 3 to 10 days after the last pill. Well in Jan 06 still no AF since the one in Dec. So I again took Provera, same dosage. Well in Feb still no AF and I took a HPT and got a BFP!
Avatar f tn Hello, If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. During this time, ovulation can return at any time. If you are doubtful regarding the status of your pregnancy, you can go in for blood pregnancy test which measures the amount of hCG in your blood. Transvaginal ultrasound at as early as 5-6 wks of pregnancy can also confirm pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I'm 22 yrs old and was taking Provera to regulate my cycle. I was on Depo on and off for 6 years and have been off it for 20 months straight now. I used an AH ovulation kit and was not ovulating so the doc recommended Provera and Chlomid. I've been off Provera for 3 weeks waiting to start Chlomid, but I still haven't gotten my period. I just took an HPT at it was negative. Could I be pregnant even with that HPT negative? My nurse seemed concerned that it wasn't a blood test...
Avatar f tn I'm 21years old. Female. Weight 48kg. Height 4.11 feet. I had depo provera shot today. It was 150mg/ml and i received less than 1ml on the 25th day of my period. About 700 micro liter. Do i need to be worried if i had unprotected sex after 14 days and within 80 days? Or should I get another dose? It was my first ever shot. I have always used physical contraception before.
Avatar f tn Now i am waiting for my gynecologist appointment to come through.I am so worried at the moment.I am sure it is because of Depo Provera AND NOT CANCER.I told her that i have read a lot of reviews of woman who had the sam on going bleeding for months, but she kind of ignored that. I just wonder how will they stop that bleeding? When it is going to stop?
Avatar n tn The dr told me that right after provera I will start second INV. I wonder if it is good to start the procedure when the period is induced. Are the eggs quality going to be good? Has anyone had that situation? how did it come out?

Avatar n tn I have had endo for over ten years now and after a few surgeries and depo provera i finally put my foot down along with my husband and said Enough is enough, i couldnt live like that any longer! so i started Lucrin in Jan and i've got my last injection in a few days time. I was terrified of going on it after reading side effects but...the hot flushes, night sweats, headaches and feeling pregnant lol are nothing compared to how much pain i was in before!
Avatar f tn Depo Provera { Started 5/20/2010, Last Shot 2/9/2012 } Before I started getting the Depo Provera Injections I always had a normal, slightly heavy period. Minimal cramping. After taking Depo Provera for 1 year I finally lost my periods.
Avatar n tn I'm 19 and ive been on the depo provera shot for about 3 weeks and my period pains are excruciating and i have had it for about 2 weeks now. whats going on!
Avatar n tn I have yet to have a period 2 years after stopping Depo I was told that I would be able to start at anytime since the provera didnt work does that mean I may need more clomid that most?
Avatar f tn I AM CURRENTLY TAKING PROVERA TO BRING ON MY PERIOD AND THEN GOING TO BE TAKING 150 MG OF CLOMID DAYS 5-9 AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN OFF OF THE DEPO SHOT FOR ALMOST 2 YRS AND MY CYCLE HAS YET TO COME ON ITS OWN SINCE BEING OFF THE SHOT! DID ANYONE HAVE SUCCESS AT 150 MG OF CLOMID?
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me depo provera in order to treat hormonal imbalance. The first month of injection was to give 4 dosage following 1 dose once a month for 3 months. Upon the last dose of injection I found out that it dopa must be injected 7 days from the last injection for the following dose and if engage in sexual activity a contraceptive must be used in order not to get pregnant.
Avatar f tn Hi. My husband and I have decided to have a baby. I was on Depo Provera for 2 years and discontinued in March (my last shot was in December) at which point my doctor put me on birth control (continuous dosage without taking placebo). I have been off birth control for 2 weeks now and I have had the hormonal bleed. I know it can take sometime to get pregnant. But my question is, how will I know when I am ovulating again?
Avatar n tn The mini-pill is progesterone based like depo-provera. In fact it is the same thing, only in a daily pill form instead of the longer acting shot.
Avatar f tn AT FIRST IT WAS A HEAVY FLOW WITH LARGE BLOOD CLOTS UNTIL I WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND ALL THEY DID THERE WAS GIVE ME A HIGH DOSAGE SHOT OF THE DEPO BIRTH CONTROL SHOT WHICH SLOWED IT DOWN. NOW I AM BEGINNING TO CRAMP AND PASS BLOOD CLOTS AGAIN. I HAVE MADE MANY GYNO APOOINTMENTS BUT THEY TELL ME THE CAN'T DO ANYTHING(PAP SMEAR) MAINLY BECAUSE I AM BLEEDING. COME BACK WHEN I AM NOT BLEEDING WHICH I DON"T KNOW WHEN THAT WILL BE. SO I HAVE TO LIVE WITH UNTIL THEN.
Avatar n tn Cyst turned out to be endometrial, and the spreading was due to the endo leaking pretty much constantly, which is why it didn't get bigger in size. She removed cyst and as much endo as she could, and was put on Depo-Provera after surgery to try and stop endo from growing more.(Never had endo or symptoms of endo before) I'm four months out of surgery, and the pain has been increasing for the past several weeks, from dull ache to sharp pains and ache (like a constant muscle cramp).
Avatar n tn Maybe in 10 years or so if it continues to recur. I think I'm going to go with the Depo-Provera shot. A little higher dosage to knock the body into not cycling, since the lower dosage hormones don't really work on me. Anyone been on the Depo-Provera shot that can give me advice on it? I have the literature they hand out, but it really doesn't tell you a lot. Thanks all!
575745 tn?1254168700 I've been bleeding constantly for a year, except for two weeks when I was given a high dosage of estrogen to heal my unterine wall. i've on depo provera for almost nine months, and was on bcp's before that. I've had a transfusion already, and now I feel that I'm almost at that state again, where my breathing is labored after a flight of stairs, i'm dizzy, or feel that i am going to pass out if i don't lie down.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on provera to try to stop it. Didn't work. So here I am going on almost a month of bleeding, and its getting worse. I am bleeding through a pad every hour to 2 hours, everytime I move it makes it worse. I called my doctor and she said the hormones take a couple weeks to kick in. In the meantime I am freaking out! This can't be healthy! Has this happened to anyone? Should I be worried? How much bleeding is too much?
Avatar f tn In November, I also switched from taking birth control pills, to the shot, Depo Provera. Could this possibly be what is causing the problem? I know that the Depo shot has lots of side effects, which is why I will no longer be getting the shot again. I also should mention I have epilepsy, and started taking Topamax at a dosage of 100 mg. twice a day in the beginning of November to control my seizures. I know that Topamax can have bad side effects on the kidneys as well.
Avatar n tn The same thing happened to me after I had just 1 shot of Depo Provera. It could be that you had some very small symptoms of becoming hypothyroid before you started taking the Yasmin. The Yasmin, could have set it off. People who have hypothyroidism usually need to take it for life. It is rare that this disorder will correct itself. This is not something to play around with. You need to take the medicine or your problems will only get worse and can become debilitating.
