Ddavp not working

Common Questions and Answers about Ddavp not working

ddavp

Avatar f tn At first I think that many people tend to overdo it on the DDAVP and get themselves overhydrated, which can be dangerous. But then not taking in enough fluids is not good either. So how about you? What form of DDAVP are you on? What is your average intake/output without meds? Any specific questions?
Avatar m tn One of the ways we would try to determine this was by prescribing DDAVP (if there were not any issues that would prevent using it). Desmopressin (trade names: DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men).
1363339 tn?1338771053 I came across a DI, she use very small glass to control the water intake. She was advised by her endo. I can’t afford not taking ddavp. I had couple of times tried not taking it because I want to less depend on it, but it made me worse. I was so weak, the heart was beating so fast, peeing and drinking every 20 mins. 3 yrs ago I was admitted for uncontrolled DI. And for you not taking it during the day… I can’t imagine that. DI is painful indeed.
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
1216899 tn?1288570325 I only need to take a very small dose of DDAVP at night so that I am not getting up every hour to pee/drink. But now I can sleep! By day I just chug lots of fluids (2+ gallons) The hubby lovingly calls me a frat boy :) If you get diagnosed and if you go onto DDAVP, you will need really close supervision by a doctor as folks will have a tendency to overdo it on the DDAVP and overhydrate themselves. Until then drink lots!
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar f tn I think it was really close to your optic nerve, not your eyes? So it sounds like it was a larger tumor and grew up into the optic chasm. My best guess is that it was a non-functioning tumor as those tend to be larger but it could have been anything. It is scary when your tumor may or may not be back. Mine grew back.
Avatar f tn I have used a nasal spray (DDAVP) for three weeks, but the bleeding did not stop. I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days?
Avatar f tn Anyways if you have it, there is a medication called DDAVP (or desmopressin) that can help so that you are not attached to a drinking fountain and toilet all of the time. It has to be used very cautiously at first as you can risk becoming overhyfrated. I find that especially at night it really helps. Otherwise I wake up every hour to pee and drink. Thus I get very disturbed sleep.. The medication comes is a pill form, nasal spray and injection.
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
Avatar m tn There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn She also itches incessantly (she will go through four different outfits in the morning trying to find something that does not itch). She is tall and skinny, 42.5 inches, and 52 lbs. She eats ALOT! she will have 4 packets of oatmeal and a glass of milk in the am. Another possible symptom is nocturnal enuresis. She is on DDAVP at night .05 mg X approx. 4 months. If I remember to wake her up around 2am she may be dry, before the DDAVP she was going through 2 goodnights diapers a night...
Avatar m tn ive never went this much during the night..i had to go get on some meds called ddavp to slow it down so i can sleep..
Avatar n tn He also mentioned that she might have a missing hormone but more tests need too be done. In the meantime he has prescribed DDAVP, saying that this might help and if it does she will need this drug support for her entire life.
596605 tn?1369946627 Hi- I have been experiencing almost constant head pain in the forehead region. I also have body pains which have been diagnosed as Fibromyagia Syndrome. I had surgery to remove a Rathke's Cleft Cyst in Jan 2006. I became Panhypopit after this. On all Pituitary hormones: rGH, Cortisol, Thyroid, DDAVP, and HRT. RE the head pain, I think that I may have Trigeminal Nerve damage that is causing this pain, as it started happening after my surgery. What type of doctor do I see?
Avatar f tn This is caused because your pituitary gland is not making enough Anti-diuretic Hormone. The medication used for this is called Dessmopressin or DDAVP. It is available in a pill form, nasal spray or injection. There are a few other conditions that can mimic this so it is important to get it ruled in or out. I have this and without medication I am also up every half hour drinking and peeing.i rec that you see a neuro endo to rule this out, your other pituitary hormones, and have a current MRI.
Avatar f tn You saying you are an impatient person does not mean diddly. Just because you are impatient does not mean the medication is going to work faster for you. The reality is because you are impatient, you need to find things to occupy your mind. Start an exercise program, practice meditation, get outside and chop some wood. Anything that is going to take you away from sitting in your house feeling sorry for yourself. Like I said, we have all been where you are.
