Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thanks for your post. Ketocanazole shampoo is for fungal issues of the scalp. https://www.healthline.com/health/ketoconazole-shampoos While it helps many people that have flaking of the scalp, it also can cause skin irritation for some. Did a doctor recommend it? A dermatologist is good to talk to about issues related to one's scalp and direction on how to treat it. You may be allergic to ketocanazole shampoo as severe itching is a sign of that.

Avatar n tn Hello, I've been having this dandruff problem for few years now. I thought shampooing could resolve this issue, especially by using Head&Shoul*** shampoo or Cle** shampoo. Do you have tips on how to get rid of them? Natural and the cheapest way if possible, coz some of my dandruff sometimes results in minor wound like patches.
Avatar m tn I have dry scalp/dandruff/scalp sores... recommend me a shampoo to make it go away!

Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar n tn With regards to your dandruff, daily washing with an antidandruff shampoo may help decrease oil and cell buildup. There are plenty of dandruff shampoo available in the market today. Not all dandruff shampoos are alike, so you may need to experiment with them to find the one that works best for you. When shampooing, it is important to rinse well. If it still persists, stronger prescription shampoos may be indicated. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I've had the same thing. Mine has been happening for YEARS and it gets red, flaky, and painful. I can barely brush my hair without pain. And the coal tar shampoo doesn't work... In fact it burns. Same with the dandruff shampoos. They're not good for me obviously...
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms it can be seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar n tn The spots are not scaly. Whenever he applies a dandruff shampoo to it, it eases and goes away. He has been told that it is the dandruff that has run down to his face.Others say that it is his high alcohol consumption which is in correlation to some liver disorder. The spots tend to look like ring worm but not exactly. When the weather becomes cool, it also surfaces. What do you think this condition sounds like?

Avatar m tn I myself have had the same sort of thing lucky you had no burning it does sound like seborrhiec dermatitis using an anti dandruff shampoo such as nizorelle (costs about £5.00) contains ketocozanle which acts as an anti fungal ingredient and can also be used as a body wash (so my doc informs me) in the dry hair only formulation it uses collagen to nourish and repair the hair shaft as well as improving overall condition.
Avatar m tn Also i used a scalp shampoo for some symptoms like psoriasis etc, and it made my hair feel sticky and i don't think i have those symptoms.
Avatar m tn lotion (a lot, especially around my nose, because it is the most noticeable) I use anti dandruff shampoo) This has been a never ending problem, and I am going to college in a few months and would really prefer not having it, especially with a room mate and having to slap on lotion every 10 minutes. If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn What does dandruff shampoo do for the flaky dermatitis on the eyelid? Are you saying by strictly using a dandruff shampoo that will help the flaky dry skin go away on your eyelid? Or do you use the shampoo and also rub it on your eyelid during the process? Hmmm, confused.

Avatar m tn Hello, I think the doctor is talking about seborrehic dermatitis which is also called adult cradle cap. Avatar n tn It sounds like seborrheic dermatitis, which is an inflammatory version of dandruff. I have it in my eyebrows -- it's white and flaky, with no redness until recently, and it started off in one part of one eyebrow, and then it spread. Now recently it has spread to my entire eyebrow. I've tried a lot of things. Using Nizoral shampoo once a day seems to help a little. I also take the following supplements: evening primrose oil, multivitamins, cod liver oil, and sometimes, probiotics.
Avatar n tn It does indeed sound like you've got Sebhorreic Dermatitis. It's caused by the same yeast as dandruff, just with more intense symptoms, including crusty build up wherever you've itched too hard.. NIICE. There is a product called Psoriasin for scalp available from shopinprivate.com. It is a coal tar product which can be left to work on the scalp without making your hair greasy. It is not a cure, but it definitely removes ALL my symptoms if I use it regularly.
Avatar n tn I have had bouts of seborheic (sp) dermatitis on my scalp and earlobe areas for some time now and I find that generic coal tar shampoo helps very well. For the first day or two you will notice some flaking of the skin but many people use it to treat the itch and inflamation successfully without any negative side effects. I have read though, that you should alternate with your regular soap as not to overly dry out the skin.
