Avatar f tn t know if this has anything to do with either one but my scalp constantly itches. No dandruff just itching. I've tried several different kinds of dandruff shampoo but nothing helps. Can anyone help me, it is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn Your doctor would be able to prescribe a specific shampoo for you. Or you can purchase from the pharmacy, without a prescription, a shampoo that will treat the dandruff and any fungal infection that is causing it. Always read the directions carefully how to use those shampoos. Normal dandruff is caused by a dry scalp. At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties.
Avatar f tn Plus, I regularly use nizoral which is actually prescribed to kill lice (among other things). In fact I had just used nizoral right before my girlfriend noticed the dots. Please let me know what could this be??? Need your advice!!!! Please HELPPPP!!!
Avatar f tn At first, I taught it was lice and I applied lice shampoo to both of our heads. That did not work, so next I tried apple cider vinegar, natural drandruff shampoo, head n shulders,, expensive shampoo from the salon, I don't know what else to do. Our heads itch all the time. It looks like we have dandruff all thru our heads, alot!!!!!
Avatar n tn You will also need to use it routinely to prevent recurrence, and you may find that a dandruff shampoo becomes ineffective at a certain point, in which case you will need to try a new product. In addition to medicated shampoos, dandruff can also be treated with tea tree oil, a plant compound which has been used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years.
Avatar n tn f you think you have lice, after you wash your hair, rinse it with a mixture of white vinegar and water (half and half). Lice do not like vinegar and will give up residence.
Avatar f tn My four year old has been scratching her head (all over her scalp) for a few weeks now. At first I thought it might be lice, but I inspect her hair every few days and haven't seen any nits or lice. As an infant she had eczema, so I thought maybe it was that, but she doesn't have any redness or bumps on her scalp. I don't think it's dandruff because thereare no flakes. We wash her hair every night in the shower with kids shampoo and use regular adult conditioner.

Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.
4251679 tn?1370305531 Have any of you noticed your head bein itchy? I've checked for lice and don't have that. I don't have dandruff so I'm assuming my scalps not dry. What could this be?
Avatar f tn Maybe ask the doctor. You have to kill all the lice. And she needs to bag anything in her house that would've gotten lice, pillows... Stuffed animals etc. and either keep them outside or throw them away! I was younger when I got lice so my mom picked out all the eggs and then got a special shampoo but she should ask her doctor what is safe while breastfeeding! I don't think the special shampoo would be much of an issue since dying your hair doesn't affect the baby.
Avatar m tn If you don’t trust the mayonnaise or Vaseline to smother the lice, you can make a natural lice shampoo to kill the lice. To a base of five teaspoons of Olive Carrier Oil (or coconut oil), add five drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil, five drops of Rosemary Essential Oil, five drops of Lavender Essential Oil, five drops of Peppermint Essential Oil, and five drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil.
Avatar f tn Shampoos from shops will not work they may kill the adult lice but will not kill the eggs that will hatch, my kids have yet to catch them thank god but there always going around the school!!
890634 tn?1241186679 I am limited in products that I can use because my Celiac Disease causes me to react to topical products that contain gluten, which is in most products for dandruff shampoo. My scalp is in terrible shape, and my hair is shedding way more than is normal. I do take vitamin supplements and fish oil daily. Please help! Thank you.
Avatar f tn So I've been having this yellow tube-like things sticking to strands of my hair. My hair is pretty long and very very thick. I think it's head lice, but I NEVER feel the little lice crawling in there, my mom checks my hair on a daily basis very frequently and she sees nothing. I do have dandruff every once in a while though. I admit they do look like head lice nits, but I'm not sure. I think it may be head lice and I'm getting some treatment shampoo tomorrow and trying it.

Avatar n tn My 8 year old has a severe itching scalp but no lice, dandruff or obvious scalp condition. I've used Head and Shoulders dry scalp care and the shampoo with coal tar but nothing helps. Could it be neurological or pyscological? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My mum said it might be lice so I’ve bought lice treatment and there still appears to be the white beads. So I don’t think it’s lice. I then tried dandruff shampoo and it didn’t get rid of it either. A few other symptoms are that whenever I wash my hair, a hand full of hair would fall out and I’ve realised how much thinner my hair has become compared to before. Also at night time I would feel once or twice itchiness and sometimes I feel like an insect is crawling on my scalp. Please help!!
Avatar f tn Hey, Im 14 and recently noticed that i have lice. Im currently using lice killing shampoo but they dont go away! Im guessing that the lice eggs dont get killed from the shampoo, its been almost 2 weeks. I'm a boy with long hair and i really dont want to cut it off :(. I have even sat with my mom for atleast 5 hours as she picked out the hairs with little nits on it, i dont see how the combs would work on the eggs because they are pretty much glued on the hair! HELP!!!!!
Avatar n tn Hello- my daughter got head lice at school, and it was really hard to get rid of until I found out about the robi-comb. It is an electronic lice comb that zaps the little boogers and kills them instantly on contact, and it gets even the tiniest ones. It doesn't kill the eggs, but if you use it for a couple of weeks you will be lice free, and without all of those crazy chemicals. It was a lifesaver, and I got it at CVS for about $40. Well worth it and perfect for treating your own head!
Avatar f tn Hey Jay i have that same problem before but now i already dont have it my advice is just keep away your hands from ur scalp like what tushar said and when u take a bath use a shampoo That can remove dandruff like "Head and Shoulders" and when u take a bath after u shampoo just leave it for 5 mins so u can feel something cool in ur head and after that wet it and dry and whenever u comb ur hair do it slowly just dont do something that can remove ur dandruff just leave it on the shampoo s
Avatar f tn parents will take them to the doctor so the doctor can check to see if lice are there. If a kid has lice, an adult will need to buy a special medicated shampoo, cream, or lotion that kills lice. An adult will need to apply the medicine and follow the directions. Part of the treatment is combing your hair with a fine-tooth comb to remove the nits. The shampoo, cream, or lotion usually kills the lice right away.
Avatar n tn I have been having irritaion of the scalp and it feels like somthing is moving around in my scalp. I have tried lice treatment dandruff shampoo and ointment for the past two weeks and its still there. I was wondering if it could be from the herbal supplement that I am taking st john worts flaxseed oil and b complex?
Avatar f tn Wash all her b stuff in hot water .
Avatar f tn Try this. Use the regular stuff that kills lice at the pharmacy BUT afterwards, put white vinegar in your hair and massage your hair and then shampoo your hair with shampoo and use a lot of conditioner. Do this for at least a week. The white vinegar doesn't kill adult lice but it dissolves the nit glue that holds the eggs that hatch out later. Also conditioner helps keep your hair slick and hard for lice to have anything to hold onto as well.
Avatar f tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist and get fungal infections ruled out. Eat a healthy diet.
Avatar f tn Just make sure the dandruff shampoo is okay'd by your dr. I know, crazy, it's just shampoo right? But personal care products can have things in them you shouldn't use, esp during first trimester. Motherrisk at Sick Kids can also help.
