Avatar n tn Loprox shampoo, Clobex shampoo, selenium sulfide shampoo, various topical steroids and foams. Your doctor can recommend what seems appropriate and try until the best one is found. There isn't one thing that works for everyone, but nearly everyone can be helped. Best. Dr.
Avatar n tn My derm suggested that I buy a shampoo containing ketoconazole. I use Nizoral, It doesn't clean very well but seems to deal with the flaking fairly well.
1305767 tn?1361196276 Ok, I'll probably have to see a dermatologist since dandruff shampoos don't work.
Avatar f tn How do you treat dandruff that doesn't seem to work with any anti-dandruff shampoo?
Avatar f tn Also, I now have dandruff, something I have never suffered from in my entire life. Is it normal to lose hair after tx more than during? Has anybody here acquired dandruff after tx? What should I do? I bought Nizoral shampoo and Nioxin Follicle Booster, but haven't used them yet because my scalp is very itchy and I'm afraid that these products might be irritants. Any suggestions would be appreciated enormously.
Avatar n tn All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out. Dandruff shampoo should be used every few days, and you may need to try several shampoos before you find one which works.
Avatar m tn Someone said it could be because of my natural oils being there but i never had this problem before, i did switch shampoos because it was giving me this problem but the new shampoo does just the same. I used to use fructis and now i use tresemme. I don't know what may be causing it? I also tried using anti-residue/clarifying shampoos and it doesn't work. My scalp is now more itchy than usual too but i don't think i have dandruff because i don't see any white flakes or anything.
Avatar f tn He is now 3 and for a long time still had reoccurrances of cradle cap, his barber recommended a dandruff shampoo, I got pantene dandruff shampoo with conditioner and he doesn't even have flaky skin anymore.
Avatar n tn try a different shampoo, it could be a allergic reaction.
Avatar n tn (By the way, I have also ruled out DEC.) Will a dandruff shampoo help? We never use hair sparay or gels. All she does is wash her hair and use a conditioner. I have stopped panicking now that I know and can easily recognize that these are not nits, but I would like to improve the situation and eliminate them if possible. What can I do?
Avatar f tn Get head and shoudlers shampoo let it sit on your scalp 3-5 mins you might feel slight tingle its the pyrithione zinc working !!!!!!
Avatar f tn I have scratched and picked my scalp for about fifteen years. It started with a spot on my scalp that may have been normal dandruff, or it may have been fungal. Who knows, but it's been a long road since. It has always flaked and when I would scratch, tons of dandruff came off. Over the years, the size of the spot has gotten bigger and bigger and obsessive scratching has taken over my life. To me, I've always scratched until dandruff stopped falling.
Avatar f tn i ended up researching it extensively and began using regular head and shoulders. i do not have dandruff and my scalp really doesn't get that oily, but much to my appreciation - head and shoulders works for this problem. my hair gets dry easily, but lets of people online said this was the best for smelly sweaty hair/scalp: Jason Natural Products - Shampoo Dandruff Relief, but i was afraid it would dry my out way out (google for ingredients). at any rate, head and shoulders is working for me.
Avatar f tn I used it for 3 weeks followed by Dial Antibacterial Bodywash as suggested on the smellscalp.com website. Iv even tried Tea tree shampoo but that doesn't work either..any other suggestions or a cure???
Avatar n tn I have tried using anti-dandruff shampoo but it doesn't seem to work, at least not yet. The dryness is scaly and is located both in areas of hair growth and upper portions of the forehead. Occasionally it is also itchy. Please advice. Thank you.
Avatar f tn For the past two weeks I have had a terrible itchy and flaky scalp and have been using a dandruff shampoo but it doesn't seem to be working. Could this be a side effect from the medicine?
Avatar f tn The prescriptions were only around $35 for all of them and they last for awhile. Point is, maybe try Neutrogena T-gel but if that doesn't work, go to a dermatologist to see what they recommend. I know it's terribly embarrassing to be in a social setting and have these issues so I wish you the best of luck!
Avatar m tn If my face begins to itch I use a specific dandruff shampoo. Selson Blue is what works best for me. But you have to use the one with the red cap b/c it's much more potent than all the rest in their line. First you wash your neard with the Selson Blue(RedCap) and towel it dry. Let it dry completely on it's own for 15-20 minutes or blow dry it. Then use a beard conditioner of your choice the following morning.
Avatar m tn I never really go to a doctor for medication for that, but I do try some dandruff shampoo to reduce the dandruff. Some of them work, but after a while the dandruff will come back. It's really annoying but sometimes it's okay, no dandruff at all, but sometimes gets alot. I think season changes is one of the reasons. Maybe my scalp is really sensitive. I do wash my head almost everyday to keep it clean. Yea, I will keep changeing pillow case or anything will touch my scalp.
1699033 tn?1514116733 I think all of our situations areally very different, my head doesn't itch, so there's no shampoo or cream to help me, it's a mental urge to pick, the goal is to create a scab, many, and to keep picking these scabs, I have talked to my therapist, psychiatrist, and doctor and none of them really seemed to show any interest or concern and what I was telling them, I was being treated for anxiety, panic disorder, depression, and PTSD so maybe they were so I thought I was the only one.
Avatar f tn My nine year old daughter is the same so we use organic shampoo it is only made from pure essential oils it doesn't sting her eyes and i even use it as well it is great. Or you can try coal tar soap which is great also. You can get coal tar shampoo also. Go to your health food shop and or your pharmacy and you should be able to get any of the above.
10203682 tn?1418697354 I feel about 20% better than I did last night, now the only problem I see is that I'm not about to put shampoo all the way inside to clean out the deeper parts so if it doesn't clear up on it's own I might pick up some pure teatree oil because I was reading online again this morning and I found that in Italy yeast infections are commonly treated with pure teatree oil on a tampon (I'd say be very careful and do your own reading on how to apply this if your going to use it as we all know it's ver
Avatar f tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist I hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your mother is doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn So, I headed back to the doctor and saw my regular GP this time, who prescribed me with Betnovate scalp application for the red area on the top of my head that he noticed and advised that I should then move onto Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo and Simple Shampoo - Simple as a shampoo to prevent irritation and Nizoral as a dandruff solution. Well, I have done everything that he has advised and I'm still no better off for any of it.
977806 tn?1249070946 Thanks to you both. I am going out to buy the T-Gel today. and glad to hear it may not be related to hair lost, thanks for that YuK.
Avatar f tn I've seen Neutrogena's T-Gel used alternately (every other day) with Head and Shoulders shampoo work well. Additionally, treating the scalp by exfoliating away dead skin cells much like on facial skin can bring relief. Finesse makes a Revitality Scalp Balm and you could probably find a scalp mask over the internet. Aveda makes Scalp Remedy, which is best used at night based on experience. These products are also okay for sensitive skin, again from experience.
Avatar n tn I tried different shampoo before this anti dandruff shampoo. The skin doctor prescripted a medicated shampoo but I still itch. I think the medicated shampoo is strong too. So now I scatch my face and my scalp. It is very annoying and it is not people friendly. Who wants to look at me scatching. I dont know why this is happening to me. I definetly have red and rash on my face. My upper back also itch but I thought it was heat rash but still itch even after I went to a skin doctor.
Avatar n tn I had been using the same one for a long time and when it was done I thought I would try a new one, because after using the same shampoo for too long it doesn't work as effectively. Well, this new shampoo made my hair really sticky and greasy in parts. It only seemed to affect one side of my hair, which was the strangest part. At first I thought I wasn't getting all of the shampoo and conditioner out, but the same thing happened all the time so ruled this out.
