Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff lice shampoo

dandruff

Avatar f tn t know if this has anything to do with either one but my scalp constantly itches. No dandruff just itching. I've tried several different kinds of dandruff shampoo but nothing helps. Can anyone help me, it is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn Your doctor would be able to prescribe a specific shampoo for you. Or you can purchase from the pharmacy, without a prescription, a shampoo that will treat the dandruff and any fungal infection that is causing it. Always read the directions carefully how to use those shampoos. Normal dandruff is caused by a dry scalp. At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties.
Avatar f tn At first, I taught it was lice and I applied lice shampoo to both of our heads. That did not work, so next I tried apple cider vinegar, natural drandruff shampoo, head n shulders,, expensive shampoo from the salon, I don't know what else to do. Our heads itch all the time. It looks like we have dandruff all thru our heads, alot!!!!!
Avatar n tn f you think you have lice, after you wash your hair, rinse it with a mixture of white vinegar and water (half and half). Lice do not like vinegar and will give up residence.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.

Avatar f tn My four year old has been scratching her head (all over her scalp) for a few weeks now. At first I thought it might be lice, but I inspect her hair every few days and haven't seen any nits or lice. As an infant she had eczema, so I thought maybe it was that, but she doesn't have any redness or bumps on her scalp. I don't think it's dandruff because thereare no flakes. We wash her hair every night in the shower with kids shampoo and use regular adult conditioner.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.
4251679 tn?1370305531 Have any of you noticed your head bein itchy? I've checked for lice and don't have that. I don't have dandruff so I'm assuming my scalps not dry. What could this be?
Avatar f tn So I've been having this yellow tube-like things sticking to strands of my hair. My hair is pretty long and very very thick. I think it's head lice, but I NEVER feel the little lice crawling in there, my mom checks my hair on a daily basis very frequently and she sees nothing. I do have dandruff every once in a while though. I admit they do look like head lice nits, but I'm not sure. I think it may be head lice and I'm getting some treatment shampoo tomorrow and trying it.
Avatar n tn My 8 year old has a severe itching scalp but no lice, dandruff or obvious scalp condition. I've used Head and Shoulders dry scalp care and the shampoo with coal tar but nothing helps. Could it be neurological or pyscological? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My mum said it might be lice so I’ve bought lice treatment and there still appears to be the white beads. So I don’t think it’s lice. I then tried dandruff shampoo and it didn’t get rid of it either. A few other symptoms are that whenever I wash my hair, a hand full of hair would fall out and I’ve realised how much thinner my hair has become compared to before. Also at night time I would feel once or twice itchiness and sometimes I feel like an insect is crawling on my scalp. Please help!!
890634 tn?1241186679 I am limited in products that I can use because my Celiac Disease causes me to react to topical products that contain gluten, which is in most products for dandruff shampoo. My scalp is in terrible shape, and my hair is shedding way more than is normal. I do take vitamin supplements and fish oil daily. Please help! Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hey Jay i have that same problem before but now i already dont have it my advice is just keep away your hands from ur scalp like what tushar said and when u take a bath use a shampoo That can remove dandruff like "Head and Shoulders" and when u take a bath after u shampoo just leave it for 5 mins so u can feel something cool in ur head and after that wet it and dry and whenever u comb ur hair do it slowly just dont do something that can remove ur dandruff just leave it on the shampoo s
Avatar n tn I have been having irritaion of the scalp and it feels like somthing is moving around in my scalp. Avatar f tn The last few weeks my scalp his been itching something awful, it is centered around the crown. I don't have dandruff and dandruff shampoo makes it worse. I have taken to washing my hair once a week because it itches so badly. The itching is making my head hurt. Please help.
Avatar f tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist and get fungal infections ruled out. Eat a healthy diet.
Avatar f tn It itches him a lot. I know head lice is sometimes in school, but i have looked very good and see nothing of that nature. I only see some light, flaky dandruff in some parts. Pls help. thx.
1041303 tn?1421387341 I am 13 weeks and for the last week I have extremely itchy scalp!! I have not changed my shampoos recently, and I don't have lice lol. I did start a high blood pressure pill last Monday, but can not find anything to do with that.
Avatar m tn Also i used a scalp shampoo for some symptoms like psoriasis etc, and it made my hair feel sticky and i don't think i have those symptoms.
Avatar n tn I need help figuring out why I can't stop itching/brushing my hair and face. It started a month ago now and it's been going on nonstop. I've been to a couple different dermatologists and they can't figure out what is causing it. I don't know what is causing it. I went to bed one night feeling fine and the next morning I had all this itchiness going on. I have no rash, bite marks, redness, nothing at all which puzzles the doctors.
Avatar f tn I too had these *hard white granules appearing on my hair and scalp. They were very similar to lice nits, yet, I never found any lice on my lice comb, and my scalp itched constantly; I had a constant sensation of things crawling all over and biting my scalp, my eyebrows, and inside my ears. I would even find many sores and scabs on my scalp and in my ears and this was not due to my scratching or harming my skin. **I was also experiencing this problem with my eyebrows and on my eyelashes.
1253197 tn?1331209110 I have not got dandruff, and as far as I am aware have not got head lice as I asked a friend to check. I ahve not changed my shampoo recently and so I feel that it is neurological. I have had quite a lot of tingling on one side of my head which comes and goes but this is different sensation to the itchiness. So is there anything else that could be causing the itchiness and is it possibly neurological. i am seeing my neuro next month so will mention it then.
Avatar m tn So I have had an Itchy head for a while now but when I use dandruff shampoo it makes the itching stop. However today makes the second time where I have been on my phone and a little bug came from either my body or my hair (I believe it came from my hair) and fell onto the screen of my phone. That was the only way that I was even able to see the little bug. It's white/Clear and about the size of the tip of a needle.
Avatar f tn I use a tea tree shampoo everyday to prevent lice when I worked in childcare and because it helps with dandruff. I used olive oil lotion (in hair care aisle) and put it in all day under a shower cap. End of the day washed it out and had hubby comb my hair with a lice comb. I got it from my nieces when they stayed over one night in my first trimester.
Avatar f tn Ok so for about 3 weeks now I have had an itchy scalp. I thought it was just from dandruff, which I get from this time of year, along with an itchy scalp. However, twice I have found centimeter-sized bugs in my hair when I was taking a shower. My mom has gone through my hair thoroughly three times and has found no bugs, only white flecks, which she can't distinguish dandruff from nit eggs.
