436973 tn?1217947089 The past couple of days I've noticed my cat has a lot of dandruff. she has had a little flakiness before, but this is quite a bit. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Avatar m tn The vet gave me salmon oil for Akira to help with her constipation. It also has helped her chronic flaky skin on her back near the head of her tail. It comes in a squeeze bottle. The initial cost was a little on the high side, in that it costs a little over $20, but it's very little money when you consider that for a cat you only have to use 1/4 teaspoon per day, which is about two or three gentle squirts from the bottle I got. The brand is Life Line.
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.
Avatar n tn My black toy poodle who is currently 2 years old got dandruff. At first it was only dandruff but now her hair is shedding. She's got bald spots over her body. We only give her dog food for her diet. Could you please help me understand what is going on with her? I will be waiting for your response. Thank you very much.

Avatar n tn she is old and beautiful and sweet but she seems to have a bit of dandruff. does anyone know what causes this and how to stop it?
Avatar f tn m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
675347 tn?1365460645 If you feel the dandruff is becoming severe, your vet can recommend a good anti-dandruff shampoo for dogs. You might also try more frequent brushing to remove the dry skin. Humans "shed" skin, too, it's a natural occurrence. Old skin cells slough off and are replaced by new ones. But unless it is severe, I wouldn't worry about it.
277836 tn?1359666174 Okay I ned help my cat has dandruff and I am pretty sure it is coming from the lack of dry air here in the house it has been very cold.. Avatar f tn Hello, Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. It can be due to internal or external causes. Internal causes include hormonal imbalance, poor health, poor hygiene, allergic hypersensitivity, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat or starch and heredity predisposition.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your dogs dandruff and that's usually quite simple to clear up. Add a little extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals and/or supplement with Essential Omega-3 Fatty Acids. You might also reduce the weekly flea baths and intermix them with organic oatmeal baths which are quite soothing. Remember for most of us, the fall season is approaching which is when dogs shed their coats to prepare for winter.
Avatar f tn I breed toy poodles. I have three pups right now that arec10weeks and within the last 3 weeks I'm noticing more scratching in all three pups and hairless on their necks from scratching. No fleas. Vet has given them one dose of advantage once a week, their second treatment will be this monday. He thought MAYBE it could be walking dandruff but he says may not be as there's no dander full or flakey skin at all.

Internal causes include hormonal imbalance, poor health, poor hygiene, allergic hypersensitivity, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat or starch and heredity predisposition. External causes include excessive use of hair sprays and gels, improper use of hair-coloring products, cold weather and dry indoor heating, infrequent shampooing of the hair or inadequate rinsing of the scalp and hair.
Avatar f tn I really hope you can help me. We have a male Boston Terrier who will be 7 in July. He's had allergies in the past that caused some yeast problems on the folds of his face and ear trouble, and he seems to have grown out of them or something - in the past 2 years he's had no issues with any of that. He'd been eating Beneful Healthy Weight formula for several years.
Avatar f tn I started off with an itchy scalp about 4-5 weeks ago - i then noticed i had some dandruff - i wasn't too concerned intil i found myself itching quite a lot - ive had dandruff before and it generally goes soon enough and doesn't cause too much itching. Anyway i started to become paranoid thinking i had lice - as my cousins were visiting i thought perhaps i had got lice from one of them. However nobody was itching but me.
Avatar f tn For what it is worth...here is what I think. First..you must see a dermatologist. Those dandruff shampoos are the worst thing you can try and will most definitely not stop the sort of itching you describe. A lot of things can be causing the intense itch. After much experimenting...i use Clobex...prescribed by my derm. I don't have dandruff...never have...i do have outbreaks of psorisis (spelling?)..but what causes the itch is unimportant to me...stopping it is.
Avatar n tn My daughter rescued a puppy and we believe it has walking dandruff...Me and my daughter are broken out in an itchy rash...Is there a natural treatment that will get rid of this on us?
