It's advantage multi, he was thinking maybe it was walking dandruff but I went back to the vets again yesterday and we did a skin scraping and it's not mites or walking dandruff. Advantage multi kill many mites so were playing safe. We now have moved on thinking its a fungal infection, it's only making one pup really lose hair the other two have the itch but aren't losing near as much hair.

So I went to a dermatologist, who gave me some shampoos that were supposed to help stop hair loss. instead the shampoos made my hair loss worse and gave me dandruff. I started experiencing severe burning sensation on my scalp. It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.

If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.

It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.

If it helps, it probably is some sort of organism causing irritation and the hair loss, and something like ketoconazole cream or even lotramin would be the thing to do. I would go see another dermatologist about it before trying to treat it yourself. Dandruff shampoo should help a bit, but when I had eyebrow and face "dandruff" (seborrheic dermatitis), it was a course of ketoconazole cream that did the trick, and not the dandruff shampoo.

aslo many dogs have food allergies that can cause these symptoms.. what do you feed your dog? is the hair loss mostly in one area or wide spread ? and is the itching widespread or localized?

I am confused what is the reason for hair loss - dandruff or thyroid. But if it would be due to dandruff then it should not fall in heavy quantity.Do correct me if i am wrong I had my T3,T4 and TSH test about 3 months ago.. T3 and T4 were normal, but TSH wasn't. Maximum limit for TSH is 5.5 and I was having 6.4 when i got tested three month ago. I am about to visit a dermatalogist. What should I do? Should I go to any endocrinologist?

all sorts of things can cause hair loss, not just stress ( though for some of us stress really will do it ). Vitamin deficiencies, anemia, changes in hormones and thyroid issues are all common causes too. I'd google hair loss in women more before your appointment and go in armed with a list of questions!

Over the past few months ive developed dandruff i think then my head started to itch and now i have 2 hard bumps on the back of my head close to my neck and in my hair. its really irritating me what should i do?

tell them about the dandruff and the soreness and the yellow stuff. drs are dumb sometimes and just dont like to listen to their patience. its hard to find that one good dr. i have been looking for ages myself. best of luck though!

What we need to do is take some scrapings of hair and skin of the hair loss and do a biopsy and KOH examination and fungal culture to study the cause. Then specific treatment can be started. Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
