Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
Avatar n tn I would try using Neutrogena shampoo alternating with a dandruff shampoo. Avoid conditioner if possible. After washing hair, rinse in a basin of cool water with about a tablespoon of vinegar. Do one more rinse after that. If your city puts both chlorine and ammonia in your water system, consider getting a water filter that filters out both.
Avatar f tn If your scalp is extremely oily, you can control that just by doing a vinegar-water rinse at the end. Probably a tablespoon of vinegar in a basin of rinse water will help your hair look thick and fluffy and not oily.
Avatar f tn Hi there! I hope someone out there can offer some insight. I have an almost 7-year-old Boston male who is a very, very picky eater. We tried every brand under the sun and the only food he would eat unfortunately was Beneful so that's what we were feeding him. On his last vet visit the vet recommended Natural Balance. I wanted to get him on something more nutritious, so I gradually switched him over to the Natural Balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato variety.
4268628 tn?1375041176 But yea it happens bc of the hormones, before my outbreak now it had been 10 years since my last one. And I had very bad dandruff to, nothing worked for it. Thank god this has gone away in my second trimester.
Avatar f tn It's really a drag when this happens. Nizoral is good. I seem to be sensitive to the chemicals added to the water these days. They tend to add both ammonia and chlorine now. My skin hates this. If you have any asthma, that's an even better reason to get a whole-house filter that filters out ammonia and chlorine (chloramine is the chemical that results). For the shampoo you switch to when not using Nizoral, consider Neutrogena Clean green formula.
Avatar f tn Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem. Instead of using damaging soaps and different shampoos I used apple cider vinegar. I'd just pour it on massage and rinse and sometimes I would use shampoo after but mostly just conditioner. Hope it helps you.
17551709 tn?1457744886 I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.
Avatar f tn Of course it's related to the rosacea. Arnica calms it down for me. Vinegar rinse can help. One of my Dermatologists friends said I was never going to like what really worked because my hair would be greasy all the time.
612551 tn?1450022175 You can use apple cider vinegar as a rinse on the dog too. Shampoo, rinse, pour the diluted vinegar on the dog, let set and kind of scrub, rinse with clear water. Have used it on many dogs over the years and my own hair to get soap residue, grooming products out, etc. just don 't use it on open sores as it will sting. Look up uses for vinegar, you will be amazed. Still wash windows with vinegar and newspaper.

Avatar f tn hi and welcome. Something is causing the dandruff and it might be psoriasis or excema, at this point it would be best to see a dermatoligist to make sure its not the average run of the mill dandruff.
1351676 tn?1301339436 Dandruff is common in cats of many coat colors, but very noticeable in black cats. My now deceased black longhair had dandruff at times, and I treated that with brushing/combing, which he was thrilled with, and a high-quality diet, which he was less thrilled with. A bit of flax oil on his food seemed to help, as did a "pet shampoo spray" I found in a pet store, which moisturized his fur and skin without the hassle of giving him a bath.
Avatar f tn Or try washing your hair and then rinsing with a vinegar rinse. Fill a clean sink (scrub it out with baking soda and rinse as this won't leave harmful chemicals) with water and add about 2 tbsp of white vinegar and rinse your hair in that. Then maybe one more clear water rinse and you're done. The vinegar smell will go away as your hair dries, and it will get rid of greasy buildup and leave hair shiny. This may be too drying for dry hair.
Avatar n tn I would suggest alternating between Nizoral shampoo, neem shampoo, and Neutrogena Clean (green formula) shampoo. You can try a dilute vinegar rinse before a final cold rinse to also dry this up and clean up your scalp. do that once a week or so with white vinegar.
