17551709 tn?1457744886 When I was younger I did have significant dandruff. For years I've been using tea tree shampoo from ogx, its basically solved my dandruff problem. Good luck! http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.

Avatar f tn Early 2012, she used this certain anti-dandruff shampoo and it worked well, but after a few months of using it, the dandruff came back and seemed to have become stubborn. Now, no matter what kind of anti-dandruff shampoo she uses, it won't disappear. She used to have thick hair, now it seemed to have thinned a bit, as well, because of hairfall which may be related to it. Any advice??

Avatar n tn Today I intend to try the mayonnaise and vinegar process and see if actually works on the head. The only thing that i'm questioning is that if this remedy really works on the scalp area, then how do I kill the ones in my eye brows, eyelashes, nose, and ears? Again, if someone out there knows the best way to treat this issue, then please let me know, this is my day off and I will be fighting lice all day long.
Avatar f tn Try using some Apple Cidar Vinegar topically. Just pour some in a cup and use a cotton ball or makeup pad to soak it up and spread on the scalp.

Avatar n tn The dandruff is better when I cut hair short. Sometimes the itching is so irritating that I want to cut hair off!
Avatar f tn Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.

Avatar f tn I have constant dry scalp. It does not flake like Dandruff. I get sore spots all over especiallly along hair line. I had it bad a few years ago, then it got better. It just never cleared up. It hurts to even brush my hair. It has made my hair so dry that I cannot even style it anymore. It feels good after first washing it, but then it starts all over again. It itches too.

Avatar f tn If your scalp is extremely oily, you can control that just by doing a vinegar-water rinse at the end. Probably a tablespoon of vinegar in a basin of rinse water will help your hair look thick and fluffy and not oily.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm a 20 year old male and during the fall season of 2012 my scalp started really iching and my hair started to shed severely around the crown region. During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline.
Avatar f tn Hi there! I hope someone out there can offer some insight. I have an almost 7-year-old Boston male who is a very, very picky eater. We tried every brand under the sun and the only food he would eat unfortunately was Beneful so that's what we were feeding him. On his last vet visit the vet recommended Natural Balance. I wanted to get him on something more nutritious, so I gradually switched him over to the Natural Balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato variety.
Avatar f tn Looking for some advice on this nagging condition, please. I am a male and 29 years old. For the last 7-8 months I've noticed several areas of my scalp to be noticeably red and inflamed. This is affecting my crown, some parts of my sides, and also some areas above my nape. I do get random bouts of itchiness from these areas. The red areas are not flaky or raised, just noticeably red and itchy. This does not affect my entire scalp, but only specific areas mentioned above.
Avatar n tn It seems to me every time I am due for my period (or after it) I develop dandruff on my skin. Is this hormonally linked?
Avatar n tn I would try using Neutrogena shampoo alternating with a dandruff shampoo. Avoid conditioner if possible. After washing hair, rinse in a basin of cool water with about a tablespoon of vinegar. Do one more rinse after that. If your city puts both chlorine and ammonia in your water system, consider getting a water filter that filters out both.
