I SUFFER with EXTREME fatigue, severe calf muscle pain with a dull, throbbing, aching pain, hip pain, groin pain, severe muscle pains in my arms, upper and lower muscle back pain. I thought this would stop when I stopped the Crestor but it most definitely HAS NOT. I have been off of Crestor for approximately five months. I suffer daily with pain, constipation and stomach issues. I also have a bad memory and horrible concentration. Could all of this be related to my thyroid being too low?
After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Has anyone gotten worsening of their PVC's from taking a statin drug? I seem to be intolerant of these drugs and have tried Crestor, Lipitor and Lescol. My PVC's go absolutely nuts when I take them. I have done my own tests by going off and on them. I consistently get worse when I'm on them. I take C0Q10 and a whole bunch of supplements including magnesium to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.
1) In studies comparing equal doses of Crestor to Lipitor, Crestor has been shown to lower LDL levels ~10% and increase HDL levels 2-4% more than Lipitor. Your triglyerides, total cholesterol, and LDL's are in the optimal range, and your HDL level is in the middle. Based on these numbers, there doesn't seem to be a need to switch to Crestor.
2) There is little evidence on the use of EPA alone.
I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person. Now my doc thinks we should try Zetia which is in a different family of drugs.
Has anyone experienced difficulties with this? Any thoughts?
The weakness and aching are signs of rhabdomyalgia which is a side affect of statin drugs. You need to see the doctor that prescribed the meds as he/she needs to check you. I don't know about the shortness of breath. It could be a drug reaction too.
Switched back to Armour and worked for about a year. Now last week my TSH level was 23.57; also BUN was 30H; cholesterol 233 and LDL 166. They are putting me on Crestor for cholesterol. My concern is the thyroid levels. I just get so tired and put on so much weight when the levels are off. Anyone have any suggestions?
I am diabetic since 6 years, two years back i discovered that my Lipo is high( cholestrol 290, LDL and HDL),i start taking Crestor and after that i discovered that my CPK level is 600. i stoped it for two months and went down to 450 , due being Hypolipid i couldn't control cholestrol by exercise or food so i changed three doctors and each gave me a different Statins and the CPK now reaches 1375 . , i tried Ezytrol for a while but it's effect was very low .
But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime.No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.Fortunately my lipids have never been bad and my larger coronaries are clear but the lipids are only a piece of the total cardiac picture and the possible side effects of meds far outweigh my other risks.
m asking my psychiatrist to change me to cymbalta since i have chronic pain in my joints and back and it helps with pain, but he hasn't called me back yet so i'm still waiting. you may need a different antidepressant or a lower dose or something. you may need more xanax but you have to deal with your doctor about all this though. how high is your cholesterol?
He asked me to keep monitoring my blood pressure for a week. I did and the average was around 145/95. He asked me to take Concor 2.5 and Crestor 2mg. I am taking these medicaiton for around a week now and my blood pressure is 135/85.
My question is, can I stop the medicaiton if my blood pressure is normal again, or I will be on medication for the rest of my life ?
I had stopped taking the drugs for about a year then the cardiologist requested that I take them again and prescribed Crestor. About half a year into that I developed severe muscle pain and tore a tendon in my back. When it happened I was in severe pain and it took a about a year for the pain to disappear albeit at that time it had subsided considerably and, needless to say, by then without Crestor.
hi , i have the same problem down to 98lbs and i go up a little and then back down. i'm weak and skinny! did you ever resolve your problem? i was on crestor for 3 months and lost 8lbs . i'm going friday to check for h3.
1 month later he was not saticfied with the drop in cholestoral so he put me on a fairley new drug called Trilipix. I take 10mg of lisinopril for high blood pressure, 10 mg of crestor, and 145mg of trilipix. After being put on the trilipix I started felling tired and having stomache problems (constipated and cramping). I went back to have my a1c check last week and it was 8.0.
She has been on medication - Aspirin 81 mg, Metoprolol, Crestor and Metformin (since recently to control her elevated sugar levels) every day. She started to experience more frequent angina attacks, along with symptoms of vomiting / nausea, abdominal pain since May of this year. The angina attacks have become progressively more frequent and severe in the past 6-8 weeks. Her cardiologist has referred her for an angiogram with a possible angioplasty this coming Thursday.
I have hypo thyroid and was put on synthoroid generic in April. Levels back to normal and goiter had shrunk. For the last 2 weeks I have been bloating so bad I can't wear my pants by the end of the day. I can fast on liquids or eat doesn't matter I blow up! Ironically a friend on fb is having the same problem. She has been through more tests than I have, and they haven't figured out why she looks 6 months pregnant by the end of the day.
Within the first 6 months I started to have palps and my legs continued to get weaker and I got slower and slower. I quit the Lipitor and the Dr. now put me on Crestor and the palps are severe. I get very little sleep they are so severe and I have to get up and walk around. Now all kinds of heart tests! These station in just my opinion cause a much issues as they solve. Getting desperate as well for answers.
I started on crestor, than realized I am ttc and starting not feeling well and am on my ttw...I test for my pregnancy saturday. I took the crestor for 4 days than stopped and its been a little over a week. Should I restart and then stop if pregnant or not bother because of the possibility of there being a fetus?
I am just worried about my health.
