But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime.No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.Fortunately my lipids have never been bad and my larger coronaries are clear but the lipids are only a piece of the total cardiac picture and the possible side effects of meds far outweigh my other risks.
After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
The weakness and aching are signs of rhabdomyalgia which is a side affect of statin drugs. You need to see the doctor that prescribed the meds as he/she needs to check you. I don't know about the shortness of breath. It could be a drug reaction too.
put on another drug which is not a statin. One year has passed and he still has high CK levels and very severe and weak legs. He tries to exercise but can't do it for long. Calf muscles jump all the time and are tender. He can't walk around the block. He gets cramps in his legs at night as well.
What can we do to help this condition? Are there drugs or natural supplements to help build up the damage muscles?

In January (when this latest blood work came in) it showed that my cholesterol was a bit elevated, so my doctor put me on Crestor. I took for only two months and started having severe muscle pain in my legs and arms. I stopped taking it immediately. I might also add that I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis about three years ago. I was also diagnosed with IBS-Constipation prevalent roughly four years ago.
1) In studies comparing equal doses of Crestor to Lipitor, Crestor has been shown to lower LDL levels ~10% and increase HDL levels 2-4% more than Lipitor. Your triglyerides, total cholesterol, and LDL's are in the optimal range, and your HDL level is in the middle. Based on these numbers, there doesn't seem to be a need to switch to Crestor.
2) There is little evidence on the use of EPA alone.
I started on crestor, than realized I am ttc and starting not feeling well and am on my ttw...I test for my pregnancy saturday. I took the crestor for 4 days than stopped and its been a little over a week. Should I restart and then stop if pregnant or not bother because of the possibility of there being a fetus?
I am just worried about my health.
Has anyone gotten worsening of their PVC's from taking a statin drug? I seem to be intolerant of these drugs and have tried Crestor, Lipitor and Lescol. My PVC's go absolutely nuts when I take them. I have done my own tests by going off and on them. I consistently get worse when I'm on them. I take C0Q10 and a whole bunch of supplements including magnesium to no avail. Any feedback would be appreciated.
My left hand gets numbness or a sort of vibration and my right hand elbow gets pain.
Medicines I take : 2 Diabend-M tabs (1 in the morning & 1 in the night) , Crestor 10mg (1 tab) , Ecospirin 75mg (1 tab) and Neurobion Forte ( 1 tab)
I take a half a spoon of a powder made from wild jeerakam, carom seeds and fenugreek everyday. Also I take one grapefruit everyday and generally avoid rice, instead I take chappathi. My fasting blood sugar in the morning is between 110 and 140.
The first 2 weeks I dropped 10 pounds even while on a low fat diet to help reduce cholesterol Then another 10 pounds literally fell off in the next 3 or so weeks. I acquired severe body aches and pain in total body. I was also diagnosed with migraines around this time..I quit the Crestor and was on Lipitor for about a month.That also gave me body pain.
stopped a month ago due to terrible pains in my legs..i have intermittent chest pressure and pain between my shoulder blades throughout every day...The cardiologist that ordered the cath hasn't told me anything except to order the cath that morning of my first office visit....due to abnormal ekg and high blood pressure and chest pain prior night...The MD that performed the cath told my children my EJ was bad 30 percent...And that was all...
I wake up with numb hands alot sometimes up my arms too. Pressure is normal and I am on Crestor at the maximum dose, toprol xl, coumadin, plavix, hyzaar, aciphex, hay fever meds. Also, for the last 6 months my Mean corpusle size has been high. Other tests ok... so my doctor is not real concerned. Anyhow, I am alittle concerned. Do you folks have any ideas at Med whatever this is?
I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person. Now my doc thinks we should try Zetia which is in a different family of drugs.
Has anyone experienced difficulties with this? Any thoughts?
On the 4th day had some pain in the right elbow and forearm.
My guess is that part of her problem started with the broken toe. The pain probably threw off the way she walks and stands, which in turn puts pressure on the adjacent joints, and on up the line. It really is a case of the "toe bone connected to the knee bone" etc.
Cholesterol medication is notorious for causing joint pain...my Mom had to switch away from Lipitor because of it. I think she is taking Crestor now.
I'm not sure about the vitamin D.
I have been taking it for a few months just mainly when I get shoulder and pain. It helps alot with the pain. My cardiologist was not concerned about the medication. My 4 year old daughter has long qt syndrome drug induced because she suffered from SVT when she was a baby. she is on sotalol and she will have an EP study done in the next few months to see if can be weaned off sotolol. So I don't think she has congenital LQTS.
