568659 tn?1256139982 Noah got croup over the weekend and I cant remember if that is something that he needs to go to the doctor for or if it should clear up on it's own. I have been doing the hot shower thing and taking him out in the cold air. I also have a humidifier in his room and I have been giving him chamomile tea with honey but he seems to be getting worse. What do you ladies think?
Avatar f tn My little princess is 3 months old now and this morning i took her to the doc because she had a terrible cough. Come to find out she has croup which then let to bronchitis. She has been put on steroids to help her but i feel so bad for her. Other than steam or taking her outside when she has a coughing fit there's nothing i can do for her. Breaks my heart. She is my fourth and none of my boys had it. So sad for her.
Avatar f tn He went to school that day for the 2.5 hrs hes in prek. Wednesday he woke up coughing like crazy. Again i brought him and she said it was the start of CROUP. His lungs were clear and she said to give him 15mg of Prednosolone 2 tiems a day. ...it seems to get the coughing to ease up. Today i put him in the shower w me to clean him up a bit and he began to get hives on his face like crazy. scratching he was so upset. I quickly gave him Benadryl and he was ok after a while. My question is this...
Avatar f tn The next morning at 5am he was gasping for air. When I called the ped. she told that he had croup and to put him under a steam shower for 20 minutes. After about 10-15 minutes the breathing was better. When we went to the docter, he had an ear infection in each ear and sinusitus. She gave him antibiotics. After he took the med. for the 10 days,he still had a bad cough for a long time that wouldn't go away, and he was having coughing fits. When he was rechecked he had bronchitis.
Avatar n tn Both my children, have what seems to be the croup..my 3yr old boy started with it coughing until he turns blue and then vomiting nearly every time mainly mucus, now my 4yr old daughter with chronic asthma has it just as bad. I have taken them to the dr,in which he prescribed albuterol and rondec as well as steamy showers, but nothing seems to be working for them. It's breaking my heart to see them suffering so much. he has had it for almost 2 weeks and her a week.
Avatar f tn DD has croup, i was just wondering if anyone else has had a child with it. Last night was so miserable for her, and i barely got any sleep. I feel so helpless because she is so comfortable and i cant take that away from her. Dr gave her a dose of prednisone and said to do the home remedies and that it could last up to 7 days. Im just so upset because i relate all her illness's to daycare and maybe i shouldnt but i do.
Avatar f tn My 3 yr.old woke up this morning with croup! :/ I'm not afraid of catching a cold or anything that's a part of life but I'm 22 weeks pregnant and haven't ever dealt with croup let alone while pregnant. What are the chances of catching it myself and how will that affect my unborn baby???
Avatar f tn When I was little I would get croup every winter. What would help me is my mom putting me in the bathroom with the shower running on hot and having me sit in the steam, or wrapping me in a blanket and sitting on the porch in the cold. It would help break up the mucus and she would pat my back so I would cough it up. It might be worth trying if this every happens to your daughter again.
Avatar f tn One has neurocardiogenic syncope, with a sort of a barking cough, like what I think croup sounds like. The other has hyperadrenergic POTS and has a higher pitched cough when she stands too much. It comes on in the evening. She has had asthma completely ruled out with pulmonology tests, but they can't tell her what is causing it. Very frustrating!
Avatar n tn My son sounds exactly like your son, and my husband and I are so baffled as well. My son has croup right now, and we are considering having his adenoids out. How is your son doing now?
Avatar f tn Thank youu ladies he only seems to start coughing when the room gets fresh as long as the room os warm he seems to be ohkay . but I will definitely call his doctor.

His asthma is also exercise induced. Saw pulmonologist and gave him Flow Vent and Albuterol inhalers , along with Decadron when the flare ups occurred and Croup. Saw another new doctor because son was not getting better. Same peds office new doctor but was really ill...
Avatar m tn m a 23 year old male, who takes Singuliar, 10mg, daily for asthma symptoms. However for the past few nights, I have been wheezing and coughing in bed at night to the point it disrupts my sleep, leaving me dragging the next day. During the day I do not wheeze and cough, just laying down at night in bed. Should I go see my doctor, or is this something due to change in weather (it has become noticably cooler in this area the past couple days), or something the medication will correct in time?

Avatar n tn I have a 1 year old that was born 10 weeks prem with a defect in her airway. I have an ENT surgeon, a pediatrician, a speech pathologist, audiologist, pulmologist, respirologist, occupational therapist, and another speech pathologist for swallowing. the problem lies with too many doctors and too many ideas. She was born with an extra broncial (hope that is spelled right) tube that doesn't fully attach to her lungs. so, when she was born, her airway was obstructed by 90%...
Avatar n tn My six month old son was diagnosed with croup over two weeks ago. He started to get better but starting last night, he developed a nasty sounding cough? Should I be concerned his croup turned into pneumonia?
1444593 tn?1284397979 2 weeks ago he was giving antiobiotics and a nebulizer. At first it helped but now he seems to be coughing more and he has a runny nose again and the snot is green which is a sign of infection right? He sounds like he is trying to hack up a nasty goober. Sorry of that is TMI but that is the best I can describe it. Is this normal?
489798 tn?1270476475 t been on the computer much since we have had a rough week with her. It started on Sat ( a week ago) with a cough, Tuesday night she was coughing bad and running a fever or 102 F and last night, coughing, fever of 102F +(she took the thermometer out of her mouth), rash, and just wasn't feeling good. Well I took her to the peditrician today and after bloodwork and xrays they told me she had the croup (which I knew allready since she has had it about 7 or 8 times) and pnuemonia (sp?).
Avatar m tn it’s the croup, it’s the croup and my son would be prescribed prednisone. This went on until February of this year, when my wife and I asked the doctor to check for some other problem… he diagnosed him with asthma and acid-reflux. He was placed on two inhalers.. (Qvar 80mcg & ProAir HFA), as well as zantac 150mg. Since the time that my son was placed on this medicine, he has begun to have constant coughing attacks.
Avatar n tn My son too has chronic croup. He is now 8 years old and is suffering from it since he's been 2. Doctors have diagonosed him as having asthma. I went to an ENT and he said he is fine. I went to a allergist and he is allergic to Dust....however he only get episodes of Croup during October through Feb. I'm really fustrated and confused, he is on Flovent twice a day, flonase twice a day, albuterol as needed and steroids when his croup is bad which is likely 3-4 times a year.
Avatar n tn Sounds like she needs a preventor treatment (inhaled steriod). See your doctor soon as that must be really scary for her. Good luck.
Avatar n tn but spend anywhere between 2-8 hours coughing at night.. it is not a dry cough, in fact he seems to be bringing up a lot of mucus.. people have described it as an old mans cough and I would agree. it all started when he has a severe throat and chest infection... which cleared up with antibiotics, but the cough stayed.. this was 6 MONTHS AGO.. and he has not had one night since where he hasnt coughed. I have taken him to the doctors more times then i can remember..
Avatar n tn Nobody can explain why she gets it so much. She has never had any other illness or infection besides the croup. Never even rotovirus, only croup. A couple (2-3) times it has turned into pneumonia. The pediatric ENT did a bronchoscopy on her and it was perfectly normal. Now I have appointments with a pediatric pulmonologist and an immunologist. She has had allergy testing and is no allergies to anything.
Avatar f tn I had croup when I was 15. At the time I had undiagnosed autoimmune pernicious anaemia (vitamin B12 is essential for a healthy immune system). "Teens who have not developed antibodies to the viruses that cause croup and those whose immune systems are compromised can develop viral croup." - Livestrong - Croup in teens.
Avatar n tn Hi,Mycoplasma pneumonia is atypical and notorious for it's slow long course,I would say if she is still experiencing symptoms then the infection isn't gone completely or she was misdiagnosed. If she has already taken a course of antibiotics and you have insurance, then I would suggest a Bronchoscopy, with Bronchoalveolar lavage.
