coughing

Avatar f tn At the beginning of the month I got the upper respiratory virus that was going around so did the kids. all three of the kids stopped the coughing withing a week (so did the co-workers) I have asthma but I cannot get rid of the productive cough.
Avatar f tn Today it thunder stormed and the rain was just pouring down after I dropped my kids off at school. I was angry since I finally realized rain makes my asthma flare up. I been coughing like crazy today. I had treatments twice today. So now I will be getting a treatment every four hours since that's what the ER doctors told me last month when I have wheezing attacks.I had to use the Ventolin inhaler 3 times today. Hopefully I will get well soon. I am also in a asthma study.
Avatar m tn light case of asthma can be treated by ventolin inhaler in aero chamber , I also have asthmatic kids however you should consult doctor because singular is a long acting drug
Avatar f tn I would go talk to your doctor. You could have asthma but I am not a dr so I can't tell you that. My son has asthma and when his is acting up he starts coughing and he can't get his breath so he has to have a breathing treatment. But alot of people when they have asthma they have trouble breathing and their chest gets tight. The vog could be causing your problems. When the allegry count is up he has all kinds of problems with his, and he can't be outside when the air is bad.
Avatar m tn Also, would something like albuterol help if he were bronchocontricting and that were causing coughing, but no wheezing? Also, does the asthma cough sound productive? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Asthma is normally a lung condition which affecting breathing, it is common in kids and teenagers. Its symptoms are coughing, shortness in breathing, puffed. Infants also affected by asthma through inherited and anyone can affect by it. Asthma is known as lung disease. Asthma is like a disease which affecting the airways carry air from lungs. Patients having suffered from this chronic situation are said asthmatic. The internal walls of a patient of asthma, his airway are inflamed or swollen.
Avatar f tn I don't think having asthma as an adult is any less miserable then it is for kids. I've had asthma most of my life, that has not always been controllable. These last 12 months have been some of my worst asthma, of which most days I walked around short of breath and coughing up mucous daily and at the same time working full time and raising a teenager. I don't consider that fun at all.
Avatar n tn I am constantly coughing. People know when I am around just by hearing my cough. I do it so often, I have become used to it and carry on as if it is normal but I know that it isn't. I am fine for a while and suddenly I have to cough. Sometimes the cough turns into a fit and makes me feel like throwing up. Sometimes my eyes water, throat itches and it simply wears me out. I am convinced that I am suffering from allergies but my doctor wants to be sure that my lungs are ok.
Avatar n tn I have been coughing for about 7 years. I have been to 3 doctors and been on meds for post nasal drip, asthma. I had my thyroid out in Oct; because it was enlarged and closing up my trachia but that didn't help. Have had xrays and cat scans and everything looks good. It seems to coming from my throat area. sometimes i cough so hard that i almost pass out. I'm really at wits end. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 51 with a hx of thyroid ca, and am somewhat of a hypochondriac. I went to a clinic insisting they check my lymph nodes in my neck and lungs. The physician assistant pointed out that my lungs were hyperinflated and that the diaphragm was somewhat flattened, as consistent with emphysema, now I am a wreck. I had an xray 5 yrs ago and was fine. I am never short of breath, go up 3 flights of stairs several times a day, in fact often I run up the stairs and carry laundry up too.
Avatar m tn I think it's possible, if you're coughing a lot or just had an attack. The asthma itself shouldn't be causing a stomach ache, though, because asthma is in the lungs. Is it possible that you have allergies that could cause the stomachaches? My little sister has asthma, GERD, a casien allergy, and a whey allergy. Her allergist told us it's really common for someone with asthma to have other allergeries and things like that. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn the simptons i have are lack of breath, wheezing, and coughing. they usually keep me up at night. i get up in the darkness, and reach for my puffer, and puff myself a couple of puffs, and i breath in and out slowly. my mum usually comes in to give me some cough medicence, and paracetomal. i genarally dont feel well, and my question is, do you know whats wrong with me by the information i showed you above? thanks, jenny.
Avatar f tn ve been waking up at night more, sometimes coughing in the AM, and sometimes coughing after exercise (I pretreat with albuterol). My morning peak flow readings have been in my yellow zone or very close to my yellow zone for the last 2 weeks. My peak flow readings, in general, have been lower than usual for the past 3 weeks. At the risk of sounding stupid, how does a change in the weather affect a person's asthma? Where I live the weather has been sporadic for the past 3-4 weeks.
Avatar n tn as i talk to more and more parents and looked up toddlers coughing while lying down on google, there are TONS of kids that are going through this too!!! and nobody knows the reason behind it.. they are the exact same symptoms with no concrete answers, and no meds are helping these children! my friend who is a 2nd grade teacher, said that in her school,classroom..
Avatar m tn Has anyone found any help for this "chronic cough" condition??? This discussion is related to Coughing, coughing, coughing!!.
Avatar n tn Back pain is a really obscure symptom of asthma issues, but it is still more likely to be from the coughing associated with an asthma flare than the asthma itself. I would recommend that you call your asthma dr and see what they say for your particular case as the pain and burning sensation can be from many causes.
Avatar m tn I do know if it is Asthma, but when i have a long conversation i start coughing every sentense or so, Any ideas?
Avatar f tn Hi All, My daughter is 17 months old and since she was 3 months old, she has been either coughing, wheezing or congested. I used to have a local pediatrician who kept telling me that she was in day care so it is common. And so this went on and on. We are military, so I decided to switch pediatricians for another opinion. Now I have seen 3 different "so called" military pediatricians and they say she has baby asthma and have put her on a daily breathing treatment (nebulizer).
981046 tn?1248587175 Allergy shots can take a while to help. I had improvements eariler than expected at 2 months into the shots. They can take up to a year to see improvements. Dry cough can also be a symptom of asthma which goes along with allergies. You said she doesn't have asthma but what kinds of tests have they done to rule it out? I was told twice I didn't have it (by my GP and the allergist) and it took until one test that measured my lung volume to notice that I was air trapping.
4658567 tn?1364142123 If you have asthma and are waking up coughing it is a sure sign the asthma is out of control. There is inflammation as we'll as the tightness so by only using ventolin you are opening the lungs up without treating the inflammation - eventually the lungs will be so inflamed there is no room to open up. Doctor visit is definitely in order to get medication that is geared to your size, the dosage will be different and you may need a different formulation or combination than your doctor.
Avatar f tn So, here is the hard thing to remember when our kids are coughing. Coughing is the body's way of expelling something out of our lungs. In this case, it's probably left over mucus from being sick. I'd have him take something like Mucinex which thins the bodily secretions. Yes, he will still cough but the phlegm will thin and hopefully move out easier. Coughs can linger for up to 2 moths. Once the bronchial tubes are irritated, it really can take that long to get over it.
Avatar n tn That helps, but there is nasal drippage which sometimes causes the coughing. For the most part, the coughing is a dry cough and gets into coughing fits. Just today I had to leave church and have a coughing fit. Sometimes I have not made it to the sink before the coughing is so bad that I have thrown up a bit. I say that this is just allergies and the same old thing with which I have been dealing for the last 32 years, but my sister is convinced that I have this Reactive Airway Disease.
