How far on are you.... "real" contractions should be regular, timeable, should increase in intensity and frequency. "false" contractions may vary in strength - ie some might hurt bad, others may be mildly uncomfortable. Some may come at regular intervals ie 5 every 10 min then a longer gap til next one etc. my midwife akways recommends taking two paracetamol, having a hot bath, something cold to drink and lying down on your left side.
Call Dr. My first time I dogs not feel contractions and my water broke at night at the same time I heard to use the bathroom. I honestly could not tell the difference between the 2. The only way I knew was undies kept getting wet and yep sure enough it was time at 38 weeks and 6 days. Good luck!

I am only in my first trimester as a first time momma to be, but I also happen to be a labor and delivery nurse with over 2 years of experience. As your baby becomes more engaged into your pelvis, your hips have to open up more to accommodate that sweet fuzz covered head! Your body is even releasing a hormone called relaxin to help the joint of the pelvis open up. My best advice is warm showers, lots of water (at LEAST 8 ounces every hour you are awake) and sitting/bouncing on a birthing ball!
For the past few days I've been having a cramping feeling and a sharp pain in my cervix. I've also been getting braxton Hicks but they're not painful, just a little uncomfortable and I've had lower back pain off and on. Could this be the beginning stages of labor?
I was so convinced it was the real deal but contractions went away so it had to be false labor. The on call Dr said not to come til 5 min apart.
in the beginning of my pregnancy I wasn't drinking alot of water but as the months get closer I have been probably not as much as i should be, I think ima go to a Dr one today...
Your contractions should be 3-5 minutes apart. Which means from the beginning of one contraction until the beginning of the next one is how far apart they are. Don't worry about how long they last. My doctor told me 60-90 seconds but mine never lasted longer than 45 seconds up until I pushed out my son. Mine started out at 2-3 minutes apart I labored at home for 4 hours I didn't leave until I knew it was time.
Sounds like the beginning of what I felt with mild contractions the other night. Even progressed to every ten to fifteen minutes for a few hours! But they were gone by the next morning. I'm not due for another ten days but today it's a severe headache and wishing the contractions would come back... Good luck!
Most of the tightening is also while the baby is bulging out at the same time, so I have no clue what type of contractions I am supposed to feel. They aren't necessarily painful either, just all tight pressure. I'm 38wks + 2 days.
They sent us to a hotel down the road for the night and gave me some ambien to help me sleep and she said more than likely ill wake up in the morning in labor.

Period like cramps sounds more like the beginning of labor since Braxton hicks usually doesn't hurt. goodluck!!

So I'm 38 weeks and 4 days pregnant, came to l and d for a severe pain that is not contractions but I got here to find out that I'm having contractions and they are 2-3 minutes apart but I'm not dilating. They aren't letting me leave with contractions that close together right now but I'm afraid if I don't dilate anymore they will send me home.
30-3 minutes apart. Then they just slowed down. I thought it was time too! It's such a guessing game!
Feel asleep and woke up at 4 didnt feel any pain anymore, after a couole of minutes i started feeling my contractions again, but they feel like at the beginning a little pain ful bit nothing i cant handle.... Am i in actual labor or not.? Im getting frustrated...
