how long are contractions during labor

I have no idea if im dilated as we dont check here intill active labor. How long after your waters broke did you have your baby??

I lost part of my mucus plug about 2am on Christmas morning. There was also a bit of blood in it. Now I have been going to the bathroom probably 3 times a day. So I'm guessing that's my body "cleaning" itself out? The doctor told me I can go into labor as early as the 5th of this month and they won't stop my labor. On the 5th I will be 35 weeks. How long does your body usually "clean" itself before labor starts?

m not positive but I would think labor starts as soon as your water breaks and then however long you are in labor...

Then I was in the hospital 3 times last week for labor where I thought it was starting. Painful contractions for hours at a time, and only dialating to 2-3. They gave me morphine for the pain, and then everything stopped. I'm still having contractions but things just aren't progressing. I'm getting discouraged, and I'm so ready for this baby!

My water broke at 10AM on my due date and contractions started within the hour, so I count 10AM as the start of my labor. We left for the birthing center 12 hours later and I delivered my little boy after a total of 21 hours in labor. Lots of people don't have such a definitive event to determine the start of labor, though. I know a woman who was in prodromal labor for a couple of weeks before it really became active labor but it's hard to pinpoint a time when that happened.

how long were you FTM in labor? Everyone tells me the first takes a long time. I live an hour away from the hospital and I don't want to go right away. I want to stay home as long as I can. Hi ladies I bought a yoga ball today to help with dilation and to make sure my son is positioned correctly. Just wondering what your experiences are with a yoga ball? Did it work for you? How long did you do it each day? How did you get optimal use out of it in your opinion? I know every woman and labor is different but im wondering how much longer it'll be until my son decides to make his grand appearance. At 33 weeks exactly I started dropping, ive had to have contractions stopped twice, once at 27 weeks and once at 33+5. Yesterday I noticed my belly had dropped even more as it does daily and I dont think it can drop any farther and I also lost my mucous plug and had my bloody show yesterday around 11.
