Avatar n tn Hey I just had a Complete body count test today after 5 months of possible exposure to HIV (vaginal sex with no protection) The doctor told me everything was normal and there is nothing to worry about, white blood cells were normal So does this tell me that I didnt get HIV??? like is it enough for me to calm down and be sure that I'm ok ? not to forget that my last exposure was 5 months ago ! is it enough time?
Avatar m tn This was not a urine test this was a blood test. I just want to know if your WBC count would be up with any infection, or if there is possible to have an infection and not have a elevated WBC count.

Avatar n tn For the STDs diagnosed by blood test, the health care provider has to ask for the test by name. Blood tests to check on general health--like a complete blood count or blood chemistry profile--don't pick up any STD.
457438 tn?1302072007 I consulted the Doctor again today because I don’t get complete relief from fever and cough. He advice to do blood and urine test. After test my Platelet count is 2.8 Lakhs and TC is 4400 CELLE/CUMS. He checked the test result and retest after two days. He said that PC and TC level are low. May be Dengue/Viral fever. Can u advice me?
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a blood test conducted back in August and according to the printout my red blood cell count is slightly elevated at 4.94 (normal range 3.80-4.80). This is the second time I've known this to be high yet my doctor doesn't seem to be worried about this. Also my blood viscosity/plasma has been high as well. Nothing else is abnormal apart from the fact that my TSH and Free T4 has been swinging in and out of range. In May my FT4 was 10.9 (10-23) and my TSH was 22 (0.27-4.
Avatar n tn I recently had a CBC blood test. Reason, I want to take Accutane again for my adult acne and it requires pregnancy, chem 8, and CBC testing first. The CBC came back low white blood cell count. I wasn't told how low, probably because I didn't ask, and don't know which white cells are low, but I've been researching online and found that the Antibotic Doxycycline 100mg my doctor put me on 30 days prior to the test can cause a drop in the WBC.
Avatar n tn You need to call him back and have him fax a copy of the bloodwork to you or you need to go and pick it up and post it on this thread. My WHite Blood Count was 1.5 and ANC was at .5 Monday and and has hovered around .6 all throughout treatment (I am on week #40) even though I take Neupogen every week to keep it up. I have never reduced my interferon dose. What week are you on? I would wait until you know what the ANC (absolute neutrophils) are before you dose reduce.

Avatar f tn I last had a physical 2 years ago and the blood test showed everything was within range. Yesterday I had a blood test done at the lab and got my results (my Dr appt is on Monday morning but I'm rather worried). Everything is within range except for my WBC count (2.9) and Neutrophil counts (also very low). I have no fever, but have got 2 or 3 canker sores in my mouth, maybe as a result of a weakened immune system. Is a WBC count of 2.9 a major concern?
Avatar f tn I just had a blood test, and my white blood cell count is 18.2. what can this be a symton of? Do I need to take care of this immediately? I get very tired very quickly and get dizzy if move too fast.
Avatar m tn It is like when you have a fever and trying to find out what disease you have because you have a fever. You would need more information such as when they do a complete blood count, which type of white cells are high. There are many types of white cells that are all counted in a total WBC count. There are neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, and each have a normal percentage. They may check this next time if you count is still high.
Avatar f tn If a person has CFS or Fibromyalgia would your white blood cell count be HIGH? Especially the Neutrophils? The doctor tested me for strep, mono, bladder infection and much much more? All test came back negative. I know I'm trying to self diagnose but I'm tired of feeling so lazy......
Avatar n tn Normally simple blood tests results like hemogram, total cell count, complete blood checkup, blood sugar, electrolytes etc are available the same day. Some times the tests are done and the report not uploaded on the computer due to technical delays. So if you do not get them by tomorrow, yes, definitely follow this up. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar f tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! A complete blood count gives information of total WBC, RBC, platelet, and is generally helpful in diagnosing anemia as it gives various parameters for that and infection, low platelet count as in bleeding cases and cancers like leukemia can be suspected. Some labs do not give reports on phone and others may do so. Also if some values are out of range, then some labs are prefer not to divulge the information unless a doctor has taken a look.
Avatar n tn I know that he initially prescribed 4 months for me but he never told me about going back after 4 months to have another blood test. He did not mention that I cannot stop once I start consuming the drug. I came to realize that doctor did not advise me in detail. All he told me was my condition is pretty severe I should start taking the drug. I don't even know whether I'm classified as CHRONIC Hepatitis B carrier or not chronic. Can anyone here help me interpret my results?
Avatar m tn Since you’ve mentioned that your father is quite fond of drinking and he’s not got any other symptoms apart from leucopenia, the thing which strongly comes to mind is Folate deficiency which can occur in patients who drink. Can I know the size of RBC’s in the Complete Blood count? If they are large in size, then it’s suggestive of Folate deficiency. He may need folic acid tablets for the same. I’ll suggest you consult a haematologist and take an expert opinion. Please do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, I only see adult patients and may not be able to give you very useful information regarding your daughter - but will try. What were her other lab parameters? Do you know what her white blood cell count or platelet count were? Also, what kind of symptoms does she have - how was this initially detected in her?

Avatar f tn I recently got alot of blood work done about a month ago because I went on a new diet plan at my Dr.'s office. They did a CBC(complete blood count) and alot of other test. If I were HIV positive would something abnormal have showed up in the blood work that came back.
Avatar n tn After 3 weeks went to see a doctor who ordered the HIV test again along with Complete blood count. I came out negative and CBC showed up high level of neutrophil (76%) and WBC and low lymphocytes (17.3%). The doctor prescribed antibiotic and told me not to worry cause he told it was clearly a bacterial infection and he found lymphadnopathy . Now after a 2 weeks of the tests, I dont know, I sometimes feel veeery slight pain around my joints.
