Common Questions and Answers about Complete blood count online

Avatar f tn I had a complete blood count with differential yesterday that showed normal values for all ranges. Is this sufficient to show no HIV or is that a separate test?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has had several CBC's and had slightly elevated white blood count? The last 3-4 times in which I've had a complete blood count they notice that it's elevated but not to the point where it becomes a concern ( so the doctor says) but I still find it strange.
Avatar m tn I am really scared to get tested and wanted to know my probabilities of having the HIV?? Back in Feb 05' I had PROTECTED sex with a sex worker. This happened in sub-Saharan country... I know you must think I am a complete fool... which I agree. Anyhow, I got scared after the event and approximately 6 weeks later I had the "flu" symptom. I totally panicked and the flu lasted about a week.
780520 tn?1235938417 My wife just had a blood test done. They notice her platlet level was low, although they did not give her the count. They want her to come back for further blood test. I've been reading about (thrombocytopenia) and the causes of it. I won't jump to any conclusion here but can you put my mind to rest? For I know that much of the time what we read online causes us to become over the top with our concerns. Also what will they being checking for with this additional blood test?
Avatar m tn I am a 20 year old male. I got my Complete Blood Count test (CBC) and also Vitamin B12 test done (I had symptoms of memory loss, depression and mania and read about Vit B12 deficiency online which had listed similar symptoms). I have attached the diagnostic reports of my tests as a photo. My reports of Complete Blood Count test indicate all values within range but the Vitamin B12 test shows 95 pg/ml whereas the reference range given for comparison is 211-946 pg/ml.
Avatar n tn Are there any other signs or symptoms present? Chest x-ray, complete blood count and complete medical and physical examination is needed to help with the diagnosis. It would be best to see your doctor to rule out any differentials and to reach a complete diagnosis. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Normally simple blood tests results like hemogram, total cell count, complete blood checkup, blood sugar, electrolytes etc are available the same day. Some times the tests are done and the report not uploaded on the computer due to technical delays. So if you do not get them by tomorrow, yes, definitely follow this up. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Yes, the count can actually be considered normal. High basophil count (only basophils increased) is generally seen in allergies and worms in stool. Hence you need to rule out these two causes. It can be high in polycythemia vera and leukemia, but this would also increase the RBC and other cells. Count can also be high as a part of chronic inflammation, cancers and radiation but none of these are causes of only high basophils.
457438 tn?1302068407 I consulted the Doctor again today because I don’t get complete relief from fever and cough. He advice to do blood and urine test. Avatar m tn In November 2013, my heart doctor asked me a complete blood count, along with other test (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.). Everything was normal with the red cells, but the white cells were low (4090/mm3) and there were more leucocytes (2740/mm3) than neutrophils (920/mm3). She asked me about HIV and I replied her that I have been tested twice.
Avatar n tn They can also result from autoimmune disorders, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, bone marrow disorders such as leukemia, inflammation of the veins, as a side effect of certain medications, viral infections, such as EBV or Dengue and septicemia or infection in blood. A complete blood count, urine examination and a blood culture may be required to reach a diagnosis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn report changes and request bloodwork to help. A CBC or complete blood count will show an infection if present. Also headaches can be caused by diet lack of sleep or stress. Try taking Advil or any ibuprofen product every 6-8 hrs as needed. Could be migraines...try seeing if you could stop by his office when symptoms are occuring so he can witness them. Could als see a neurologist and get labs and cat scan of brain.
Avatar f tn The number of white blood cells (WBCs) in the blood. The WBC is usually measured as part of the CBC (complete blood count). White blood cells are the infection-fighting cells in the blood. There are different types of white blood cells, including neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes; PMNs), band cells (slightly immature neutrophils), T-type lymphocytes (T cells), B-type lymphocytes (B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.
Avatar n tn My GP makes an appointment with a Hematologist the next day (2/6) and it shows 18,000. He draws about 6 viles of blood for what seems like a complete blood analysis that in large part wont have results returned until this Thursday. So I go online, and I read about white counts and fears of Leukemia or STDS emerge in my mind.
Avatar n tn MCHC is a HGB. reading in the RBC...this is an HCV forum. Do you have HCV?
Avatar f tn I wanna go shopping online but i find it confusing can someone help me please .
Avatar m tn There is no way of telling what is going on until someones sees you and orders the appropriate testing such as a CBC (complete blood count) and a few others to start with.. Depending on what he or she suspects, then more tests may be ordered. Your symptoms can be caused by many conditions so it really is in your best interest to see a doctor about your concerns.
