I see a lot of statements about pain on the left side.
I was and am still having pain on my left side as well so i went to the doc and he sent me to the GI doc and he found pre cancer on a couple of areas in my colon by colonoscopy. there are other things specifically on the left side you can think about other than the ovaries. I have intestinal, colon, ovarian, uterin, and fillopian tube issues and I got all of it checked out. Yes listen to us dont ignore pain. Pain is there for a reason. To tell your body there is something going on.
Is this a normal after surgery pain? Colon resection due to diverticulitis, ostomy, then reconnection. Similar pain to before colonectomy, where I couldn't tell if it was feminine pain or colon pain. Still can't tell. Ocassionally, I have similar pain on the right side, too. Also some pain when I raise my left leg. Obviously I have concerns and want to make sure there isn't a problem. I wasn't told any symptoms to watch out for, or any possible complications.
I have recently stopped taking all pain medication and I feel everything. The lower left quadrant pain, upped left quadrant pain, and the upper right quadrant pain from the removal of my gallbladder. I experienced hot flashes and cold chills last night. This morning I had cold chills so bad that I had three blankets on, a hat, hoodie, and winter jacket on inside my house with the thermostat at 73 degrees. It took me over 4 hours to warm up.
A few days ago, I started having a nagging right side pain and by the next day it was so intense I ended up in the ER. They did bloodwork, uralyisis, ultrasound of my gallbladder and ct scan to check for kidney stones. Everything came back normal and now I'm very frustrated. They sent me home with painkillers and told me it could possibly be my gallbladder, to follow up and get a HIDA scan. Now a couple days later, my side doesn't hurt as bad but is sore.
I have had so many problems in the last couple months that I really don't know where to start. My latest is a pain in my front upper left side right below my rib cage. It's not constant and it's not a bad pain but just enough to bother me and worry me. I am also having bad lower back pain that comes and goes. I have had changes in bowel movements going back and forth from constipation to loose stools.
When i went to doctor the originally the main pain that i was having was on my left side and a little on the right along with diarrhea. My doctor ordered for me to have some blood work, an ultrasound, and either a ct scan or mri. The test results showed that i had some gallstones so my doctor referred me to a surgeon. My surgeon told me there was alot of sludge and couple of stones in my gallbladder and def needed to come out.
It makes it worse alot of times if i sleep on the right side so i sleep on the left, i have noticed oats make it worse and if i walk or exercise it eases the symptoms, somtimes giving me relief fully. i dont feel its related to gas.
have been successfully treated with a deodnum ulcer, so i know what that feels like, ive been tested for wheat allergy thats neg. i dont have colon cancer in my direct family but i have a cousin who sufferes from it.
The pain was mainly right below my rib cage and on the lower left side. I also had some small bursts of pain by my heart and on the lower right side, where my large intestine starts. The pain would worsen when I ate and would practically go away when I passed a stool. And when I was hungry my stomach would start to tighten up. At first, the pain was severe (but only when I wanted to pass a stool), over the next week or so the severe pain went away.
It started with severe burning on the right side of my body and around into my back. I went to my Primary DR and she did all the stool and blood tests and all came back fine. I was in so much pain I went to the ER where they did a CT scan with die and everything was said to be normal except ovarian cysts that they asumed had ruptured. So I wert to my OB where they did an internal sonogram and that was not the cause becuase there was no fluid found in the area surrounding the ovaries.
Overweight. Not sexually active. I have had pain in my left side for about 4 days. A dull pain, not sharp. I am not constipated, moving things at a regular pace. Pain is to the left of the belly button and occassionally on the far left side above the hip. BP 136/30, had a urinalysis which was normal. A slight tenderness over left hip when touching. No nausea or vomiting. I have had intermittent diarrhea or constipation for years. No fever. Have not had this dull pain before.

Since ascending colon extends all along the right side from the hip bone level to rib cage level, do you have pain in this whole area?

Hello. I am a 40 year old woman, not overweight. I don't smoke or drink, and I take good care of myself. For over five years now, I've had on and off pain only on the left side of my abdomen. It is mainly on the upper side under my rib cage and can also wrap around to the back. Sometimes when I tense my stomach muscle and push on it where the pain is, it hurts, but not too bad.

see if you can rule out Diverticulitis, this is inflammation and infection of the intestines food gets into pockets of the intestines causes pain on LEFT side, sharp pain, needs antibiotics. I didnt know tht eating healthy to lose weight would bring this on, ended up in Emerg Hospital for 5days in Antibiotics.
About 2 weeks ago I started experiencing indigestion and left and right side abdominal pain. The pain was worse when lying on my side. That has since subsided I know get the pain after eating it's on my right side and also my left side under my breast bone. I also have pain in my pelvic are on both sides with diarrhea and constipation. Abdominal ultrasound was normal, upper endoscopy and bloodwork elevated.. ESR level is 83. I have a family history of gallstones.
