Avatar n tn At the begining it was fine, but i ended up feeling more pain from cold things after a few days, so the warm things were better for me than the cold. I did use a cold pack on my throat though to help with the pain after waking up. I didnt get much sleep either during that time because of the fear of pain when i woke up. I have percocet and it worked wonders. Good luck though!

497186 tn?1214852838 I had my CT scan read by a radiologist who specializes in ENT. She is a friend of my boss. She said the mass looks to her to be a part of the right tonsil. Her advice was have the tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. She looked at the thyroid too. She said her gut is telling her that it's benign. I since have gotten the thyroid scan results and the nodule showed cold. Next step is the ultrasound with FNA on June 25th. The ENT scheduled me to come in on June 30th to get the results.
Avatar f tn How are you? Tonsillectomy could remove tonsilloliths permanently and thus eliminate the main cause of bad breath. Bipolar Radiofrequency Ablation or Coblation is a procedure that produces an ionized saline layer that disrupts molecular bonds without using heat. This mechanism can be used to remove all or only part of the tonsil. It is done under general anesthesia in the operating room and can be used for enlarged tonsils and chronic or recurrent infections.
Avatar f tn Hi, yes you should push to see an ENT specialist. Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Recurrent tonsillitis is an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections. So, discuss this with your doctor it may prevent the repeated episodes.
Avatar m tn The problem: I recently went through the Cyber Knife procedure for prostate cancer, and was completely successful. The procedure ended in March 2016. My PSA is now 0.08. After the procedure, I noticed a sticky, gluey substance covering my penis. I washed thoroughly my penis and surrounding area twice every day – no luck. After washing, the sticky substance returned. Over a period of months, I assumed that it was a fungus or yeast problem.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your response. this must be a very tiresome job for you guys answering so many different questions. I appreciate your service and the time you guys take out to answer questions. I am going to quit smoking and keep my fingers crossed that my tonsils are not totally damaged yet. For anyone who might want to answer a side question. how do people actually bleed to death from a tonsillectomy? It just makes no real sense to me.
Avatar m tn I was referred to an ENT for tonsillectomy consult, due to abnormally large tonsils. The ENT told me I had deviated septum causing 90%blockage on right side of my nose. I also had enlarged turbinate tissue, as well as enlarged soft palate. I am awaiting insurance approval to set surgery date to correct septum and turbinate issues, as well as removal of tonsils, and removal of soft palate tissue and reconstruction of my uvula.
4280010 tn?1352134681 She told me that i had severe hsil and dysplasia if thats how you say it. she scheduled me for a cold knife conization. That procedure was done on the 15th of October. On the first of november I had a feeling that i was pregnant and i was also supposed to start my period on that day. The test came back positive. I had some pain and some slight bleeding. I called my doctor and talked to the nurse she told me to take it easy and i was to be the next day for my post op exam.
Avatar n tn t stop the bleeding and have to sometimes get a transfusion. The pain is very severe. One out of 40,000 die of the procedure. So it is not fun and you would need someone watching you all night for a few days to make sure you don't bleed. You can still get strep throat infections but not as often. It is up to you in how bad the infections are and how often. From what I read I wouldn't do it.
Avatar n tn Following a cold which lasted weeks, now have blisters where my tonsils used to be and dont know why. I am in agony from them though.
589816 tn?1332976771 I had a turbinate reduction along with a tonsillectomy earlier this year. Now that it has started getting cold and also a few times before I find myself waking up with my nose and mouth so dry that it almost hurts. Does this happen to anyone else? If so do you have any suggestions on how to stop it?
Avatar f tn I had a Cold Knife Cone Biopsy done a week ago and my cramps are worse and the black discharge got significantly heavier, I am worried that this is not normal.
Avatar f tn I have seen a NS in Cleveland for my 11mm Chiari, and took all of your advice and saw the NS in Cincinnati. They both agreed that the crowding from the herniation, and the fact that my dens in C2 was pressing on my brain stem was causing my symptoms. However, they do have philosophical differences in how they will approach the surgery. One wants to do endoscopic decompression surgery with a cerebellar tonsilectomy and an odontoidectomy of the dens.
Avatar n tn I did my homework, researched the doctor, hospital, and procedure VERY well before under going the knife, and look what happened to me!! I dont recommend this to ANYONE!!! This discussion is related to Gastric Stapling.
Avatar n tn I am 30 years old and just had a tonsillectomy yesterday. I have been prescribed lortab elixir. At the moment I am in a lot of pain and can only tolerate chilled liquids. Can I refrigerate or freeze the lortab?
Avatar m tn You need to do research and discuss with the doctor what the best procedure is for you. If you have a blood vessel pressing on the nerve, the Gamma Knife will probably not help -- in those situations, usually a balloon procedure or an MVD is the better option. Best of luck in becoming pain free!
Avatar n tn I had Gamma-Knife Surgery 4 months ago for Trigeminal Neuralgia. After the surgery, I felt no different than before. However, recently, I began to feel a twinge in my lip like a oncoming cold sore. Two weeks later, I have almost complete numbness on the entire left side of my face. I am incredible greatful because my pain is gone, but I no longer feel anything. I feel as though I can't move my face even though the PA said it's all within the nerve not the muscle.
Avatar n tn The aftereffects include facial swelling from the frame -- that started shortly after the gamma knife procedure. I put ice on my face to bring down the swelling. The nurse gave me Tylenol afterwards and told me to take it every 4-6 hours to avoid every getting a headache and that worked well - no headaches at all. The second day I had fatigue and nausea from the radiation. The oncall doctor supplied me with a prescription for the nausea.
