I am going to switch to methadone for as short as possible time ánd the plan is to use clonidine when I stop taking methadone.
Can I use this in combimation with seroquel?
Also, do you have a suggestion how much clonidinebI should take and for how long?
As far as I know, I should take it for a week with a man of 1,3 per day and after a week build it off in 3 days.
I am using half a gram per day. How much methadone should I take.The plan is to lowwer the dosis with 5 mg. Per day.
Hi there, I am tapering down from methadone, was at 130mgs two years ago, and am currently at 41mgs, now tapering 2mgs/ week. I know this is a low and slow taper but still I am not feeling so great. I keep getting hot flashes, nausea and going hot and cold, it's uncomfortable. My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. anyone know how long the clonidine patch takes to start working, I started using it last night for opiate withdrawls. 6 yrs. of use and it is time to end this vicious cycle; i was taking 60 mg. methadone for a back problem a day. today is day 2.
The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision. Whats going on please?
Today we both decided to go to our separate doctors and spill the beans. I went to my pcp and told him everything. He prescribed me methadone and clonidine. I want to quit cold turkey. I went to walgreens and purchased a sleep aide. Can anyone tell me how long this will last? I took my last vicodin yesterday at 12 p.m.. I started taking lexapro on Monday and the side effects of the lexapro scared me enough to not take any of the vicodin yesterday. Please help. I am in the alone.
During my detox from methadone I used clonidine & yes it really does work wonders, I used it 4 days after taking my last dose of methadone & it saved me from many bad days, Im not saying I felt great on clonidine as I did,nt, but I sure felt more relaxed & could sleep.

Yes, I was 4 days into methadone withdrawal. It has been 6 days since I have taken the clonidine .01 mg. My heart still feels like it's beating much harder than before I took it. I have read that clonidine causes a rebound effect in blood pressure when stopped abruptly. I did not know that stopping after taking it once could cause the rebound effect.

But don't take the xanax etc as that will just cause more problems.
they are speaking of using benzos like xanax after you have stopped the methadone and are in WDs....I have never taken methadone but my son worked at a clinic and if the person tested positive for benzos they could not have their dose and it was against the rules...You should talk to your doctor about any medications u decide to use...especially if you are still taking methadone....it is good that you are interested in quitting..lots of support here..
my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that.
didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Hi, I can't answer sorry, I never had a problem with methadone. But 2 is very low compared to 200mg. Good on you for lowering your dose to 2. You may still have withdrawal but how extreme or not all depends on your body. Just get Clonidine and valium and take them together only when you absolutely have to, and don't use the meds any longer than 10-14 days. And only use when you do decide to withdrawal. Go lower if possible with your methadone before stopping.
Theres not to many people out there who could just skip the methadone or sub and figure clonidine in itself is going to get them over the addiction. I could be wrong, and I know they help w/d but it's not at all what they were designed for. But Kudos to you for getting clean, I want to say congratulations and I wish you good luck in the future. Gonna tell you what meds I take and when I take them so you all can give me your input and opinions. Take methadone 60mgs at 9am every am, visterall 200mgs 9am,1pm,6pm. Propranolol 80mgs 9am and 9pm, Klonopin 2mgs only for panic attacks. About 11/2 weeks ago stopped clonodine 0.3mgs took a lot of them when I had them. So now I wake up and instantly start sweating and don't stop sweating until 10pm at night.
