662085 tn?1331345560 I hope some one will answer your query about the side effects of clonidine. I dis not find any side effect relating to sexual problems with clonidine in the webpage. You may research further or alk the doctor who has prescribed it.
Avatar n tn http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/guanfacine_ad.htm http://www.depression-guide.com/tenex.htm http://www.drugs.com/mtm/tenex.html I don't see much that would describe your son's behavior here, but if he's taking other meds on top of this one, there could be a reaction.
656243 tn?1231288052 It all makes sense but I think one thing we should be careful of here is when we use the term "doctor". Some people feel more comfortable referring to a psychiatrist as a doctor and a psychiatrist is of course a medical professional but some people don't have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable.
Avatar f tn I have read Clomid may result in autism in babies. Is it true? What are the side effects of clomid on baby?
Avatar f tn My five year old son has high functioning autism and ADHD. He is now potty trained but can be quite hyperactive before bedtime and has a hard time winding down at night. We have tried everything to calm him down and have a good bedtime routine. He gets plenty of fresh air and exercise. He is on 20 mg of ritilan during the day. His psychiatrist prescribed 1 tablet of clonidine before bedtime to help him fall asleep and stay asleep. The medication has worked for this.
880900 tn?1467270141 I’m pretty sure clondine is a high blood pressure medication to reduce hypertension. It sounds like some side effects of taking clonidine may be helpful with w/d's. I haven’t tried it for that, yet, however, I took it once to reduce my BP and I accidentally took too much and I was literally walking sideways, my BP got dangerously low....(if that happens, drink lots of H2o), so, IMO, I would be very careful with it and take a very low dose. It’s nothing to mess around with….
Avatar f tn Hi, if i remember the name right clonidine was the med that nearly gave me a heart attack during baseball tryouts. No, it did not work. Read my post at the top or the forums page. I highly recommend ORAP. call me if you have any questions 707-386-7055 my name is trevor.
585414 tn?1288941302 Except for the delivery device its honestly not that different from other mood stabilizers in good effects and side effects although clearly for no one would it be used as a first line choice but then again its never been suggested as one. The world and people and their effect on me seem a bit toned down so that certainly must be one sign its working.
Avatar f tn ve had since being diagnosed. I find that the decrease in my vyvanse was enough to calm my side effects, and the clonidine was enough to control my adhd. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn As always, I recommend that parents have a close working relationship with the prescribing physician and understand exactly what the medication is, what it is intended to affect, what the side effects are, how direct and side effects will be monitored, and how decisions about dose increases and decreases will be made.
198154 tn?1337787265 PLZ take meds precribed by your doctor ,if you have any negative side effects LET HIM KNOW RIGHT AWAY. I have heard of some people who had lower blood pressure having black outs from colidine . Very scary ...... that is why I did not use it my blood pressure is low most of the time.
Avatar f tn I also have a child with autism and he has severe anxiety and compulsions and his anxiety got in the way of everyday living. So much so that as a four year old, even though he loved Dora the Explorer, he was not able to watch a new episode of a show because of the anxiety associated with the newness of it. I have never regretted putting my son on anti anxiety meds from an early age because of the massive improvement I saw in his quality of life.
Avatar f tn I am reluctant to dd in any other pills, but I need some relief. Any experience with this drug? Side effects? Does it actually do anything? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.
774059 tn?1235681948 I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn Since then we found out that Risperidone is know for side effects such as tardive dyskinesia. We are seriously concerned now. Will this be permanent ? What is the best way to examine this problem ? Thanks for any suggestions !
273579 tn?1256655053 As for the drugs your child is taking, there is much controversy over the use of some medicines. In your case, the Respirdal and Haldol can carry some serious side effects, like muscle stiffening, and there is a vocal group that are against those. But the docs have to make the decision; you can only bring it up.
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar m tn We took him off around 6 years old when we noticed the permanent side effects. We have tried Guafacine, and Vyvance, neither one them has helped. He was considered high functioning because of all the help and support he had at a young age. Now he has regressed with a noticeable difference. He abuses pets, his sister who is 9 years older than him and refuses to do anything that he is told to do. He often acts like he's the victim and the word "no" is always a sure melt down.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your comments. The psychiatrist is supposed to be an autism specialist, and there are not too many in our city who claim that. My daughter is getting her masters in Pub Admin and is researching insurance coverage for autism--it is such a fight between insurers and schools as to who should pay for services, and meanwhile our kids are the ones suffering.
Avatar f tn the new nerve blocker/lyrica/has much more side effects and is often abused....but neither r physically abit forming...neurontin being much safer than lyrica...I have chronic pain and have been on neurontin for 15 yrs...if i do not take it..i have no proiblems...where as lyrica sent me spinning neurontin helps wd cos when u first start taking it it helps sleep...for a month or so...i never took it during the day but just took my nightly 300 mg dose...
Avatar f tn I have been taking clonidine for the side effects of the hot flashes, and I must say, it helps quite a bit. It also works like a sleeping pill for quite some time, and that is very short-acting. Clonidine is not the same as Klonipin, and which is a sedative. Clonidine is a high Blood pressure drug but used for a variety of other causes. (I started out with .1 mg and am now taking .2 mg) it;s very cheap also, and I thought just worth mentioning, as I have never heard this mentioned anywhere.
