Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.
My son is ADHD and was having alot of trouble sleping at night and was prescribed clonidine. It had not affect on him and he continued to wake up and wander during the night. I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.
The most frequent combination is a psychostimulant to treat the ADHD and an antihypertenisive (like Clonidine or Tenex) to addres the oppositional behavior. One thing you might consider is employing Strattera ( a non-stimulant) to treat the ADHD and to divide the Clonidine dose over the day to address the oppositionality. In other words, ask the doctor about giving some at night (he might not actually require .
my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that.
didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
My 7 yro started a regimine of resperidol and regular clonidine a few months ago the resperidol is working he was changed to kapvay (long acting clonidine) a week ago he just started the morning dose of 2 resperidol n one kapvay and one resperidol n one kapvay at night he has slept 18 +hours in a 24hr period.

putting me on Strattera for ADHD and I had to stop it due to the fact it was cutting down on the effectiveness of the pain meds. My main doctor is trying to work with my phych. but has trouble getting a hold of him. And I can not spell to save my life lol so bare with me ...
My son was on Vyvanse and Clonodine for a long time and it was a life saver. He has ADHD and ODD as well. The doctor wanted to try Tenex. We did that for several weeks and I begged to go back on Clonodine. Tenex was awful for us! Clonodine is fantastic and helps him go to sleep at night!

My 12 year old son has been diagnosed with a "mood disorder" and ADHD. His father is a rapid cycling bipolar and I see so many of the same bahaviors in my son. How do I get his psych dr to agree to try a mood stabalizer on him? He is currently on Clonidine, Resperidal, and about 6 weeks ago they put him on Adderall as well.
I took her off concerta and made appt psychologist. Again tested and diagnosed with ADHD recommended try straterra again. This time wanted to sleep all the time. Day and night. Couldn't function. Then back to adderall. Adderall has made life semi tolerable but constant "bickering" between us - so not really working. Over the last several years she has had significant weight gain not loss. It does not seem possible that it is a misdiagnosis three times...
t work. Well now its progressing at the moment and its getting a bit painful. I take the medications clonidine, vyvanse, and dextromaphane (might have spelled them wrong). I don't have asthma, or any other conditions. I am not stressed or have any anxiety. I put this in heart disease because I don't know where else to put it.
As always, I recommend that parents have a close working relationship with the prescribing physician and understand exactly what the medication is, what it is intended to affect, what the side effects are, how direct and side effects will be monitored, and how decisions about dose increases and decreases will be made.
mutlivitamins and still prozac which is cut down from 10mg to 5mg to wean him off, he was on concerta 36mg for adhd, clonidine .1mg to help with sleep and prozac10mg to combat severe side effects, then after starting prozac. he was chewing on the inside of his lower lip so bad, 2 weeks later and he now has two scars..
My 17 year old takes Vyvanse for ADHD and help with anger , he takes that in the morning then at night Clonidine. At night I accidentally gave him Vyvanse and his clonidine because I thought I didn’t give him his meds ( clonidine) but later I checked the morning meds and there was one missing which means I gave him both! Me n him were confused and didn’t realize until the end.

he also has aniexty,adhd,speration disorder,depression. he is on cetirizine 4 allergys,clonidine 4 tourettes, intuniv 4 adhd, mirtazapine 4 depression. did u no that allergys can mak outburst of tourettes worse. my son also has trouble n school, he has an IEP, that helps him. ask 4 an IEP meetin at ur sons school. it helps with longer testn time, breaks durin class, and someone comes n an help with my child bc he has a hard time with get his words on paper, somethin 2 look n2.

My main concern now is that they (his doctor and mother) have elevated his drug regimine to include 3 drugs that have known interactions with each other, 1 (Concerta) that is known to potentially cause sudden death, and 2 (Clonidine and Zolpidem) that are not recommended for children. Although Strattera does have some potential side effects, I believe it is by far the safest.
Recently my 3 yr old has been going to a psychiatrist and they gave him clonidine for ADHD, he's on the smallest possible dose! It seems to help slow him down but he's still downright mean!!! He doesnt think twice about pulling hair, hitting, pinching, and even biting. Adults and other children. Most of the time he does it when he thinks he is being restrained or when another child is too close, giving him a look or trying to take something away from him. He is such a bully!!
My 5 year old nephew was diagnosed a little over a year and a half ago with ADHD and ODD. He was in a preschool program last year that dealt with situations like this and he did AMAZING. He is now in kindergarten and things were going great the first week and now I am getting letters that he is "out of bounds" screaming, yelling, running around. He is on Adderall, Risperdal, and Clonidine..
