Avatar f tn I too would recommend trying the Clonidine. As others have said, it is an anti-hypertensive medication that does help to relieve w/d symptoms quite successfully. It will not take them away completely, but it will minimize some of the symptoms, by reducing the sympathetic nervous system response, such as tachycardia and high BP. It's not a habit-forming drug, and really, the biggest consideration is some hypotension (low BP).

Avatar n tn clonidine by epidural injection has been used to treat cancer pain. if you are going to use this as i did to get clean be sure to taper yourself off them just like anything else there are side effects: increase in blood pressure, headaches,nervousness and possibly death. will cause drymouth,drowsiness,dizziness,constipation,and sedation. i used this when i went cold turkey( 37 day clean) it really helped alot with the anxietyand nervousness.

Ask your parents to take you back to your doctor and let him/her know what is going on, he/she will know what to do to help you. If your parents won't listen talk to a relative or your school counselor and they will let your parents know hat you need to see your doctor. Don't be scared, you're okay.

Klonopin is an anti-anxiety medication which is a benzodiazepene. I have been on it for years. The only risk is the potential of building up a tolerance to it which has been of concern in me as I have had to gradually up the dose with my psychiatrists permission. But generally its safe long term.

Avatar f tn My five year old son has high functioning autism and ADHD. He is now potty trained but can be quite hyperactive before bedtime and has a hard time winding down at night. We have tried everything to calm him down and have a good bedtime routine. He gets plenty of fresh air and exercise. He is on 20 mg of ritilan during the day. His psychiatrist prescribed 1 tablet of clonidine before bedtime to help him fall asleep and stay asleep. The medication has worked for this.

If it were my son, or if you were my patient, I would absolutely recommend that you do the following: 1) Start your son in weekly or twice weekly psychotherapy with a well-known licensed clinical psychologist right away, and plan to meet with the psychologist weekly on your own, to discuss your son's progress and treatment, and to obtain assistance with parenting him.
