I was recently diagnosed with rosacea, was prescribed metro cream and antibiotic doxycyclin. After 1 week of use i noticed my face was muchmore red and scaly dry worse than before and developed red itchy rash on neck and chest went back to derm took me off metro cream said i have folliculitis and prescribed me clindamycin. Aftter my research online i noticed antifungal creams are for folliculitis not acne medication was i given the wrong medication?
I will be here till December 2008. I have seb derm, rosacea and psoriasis on my legs-now in remission for about 4 years. Since December 2007, I have observed reddish inflammation on my penis glans, with a few grainy eruptions. I applied some betamethasone and it went away. Now from this April, the redness resurfaced, it goes away with steroids and comes back immediately once its stopped. So I have started applying OTC hydrocotizone 1% and from last Sunday I stopped it since it looked better.
It's most probably rosacea which at one point was thought to be brought on by Demodex mites. That theory is not now not widely held as they have that many in the general population also have Deomodex mites but do not have rosacea.
In any event, many of us -- including myself -- have developed rosacea from the treatment drugs, probably the interferon.
I’ve seen multiples dermatologists about this problem to no avail. Over the past 2-3 years, I’ve been getting these extremely itchy pimples randomly on my forehead and, on rare occasions, other t-zone areas. The areas start out very much like a hive (red, blotchy, extremely itchy skin), but, unlike hives, end up leaving a red papule with the occasional white center that stick around for days to weeks.
I suffer from what I believe to be rosacea; red blotches beneath my cheekbones. I have acne on my back, and often break out on my chest. I have tried everything, from lotions, to rubbing alcohol. I am in desperate need of help. I hope to one day become an actress, however, I feel that my skin conditions have, and will continue, to hold me back. Do you have any advise? I considered visiting a dermatologist’s office, but lack the financial stability to do so at the present time. Help?
After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol. This ointment took away the red spots before I even started the anti biotics but once I ran out, the spots came back again...
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

But i also have 'hyves-like' (i thinks, my family docter thinks 'rosacea-like') things on both sides of my head, behind my ears, on my chest, and onder my hair (at the border hair-skin). I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea is an adverse effects of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years.
You can use tacrolimus ointment for this.Using this rosacea often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea in 7 to 10 days with twice daily application.
This had never been a problem area before, and my dermatologist clearly has no idea what it is. First he said rosacea, then perioral dermatitis. Antibiotics, creams, gels, etc have not worked at all, and I'm really more interested in finding out the cause than in experimenting with the treatments. Can this be hormonal...menopause, post child-birth? Dr. feels it is definitley not acne, and it also doesn't have the itching and burning that usually accompanies perioral dermatitis.
I was recently diagnosed with Rosacea and didn't know that there could be eye symptoms that went along with it. I have had itching, burning, and swelling of the eyes along with a thick mucus for many years and chalked it up to allergies. I can't find thick eye mucus anywhere listed as a symptom for Ocular Rosacea. I have recently started using Latisse and it seems to be helping with the swelling of the upper eyelid, but not with the itching and mucus. Could this be Ocular Rosacea?

What you have is called steroid induced rosacea. Steroid induced rosacea or dermatitis is an adverse effect of using steroids. Some patients develop steroid-induced rosacea within weeks of applying a topical steroid; others may not experience it for years.
Using tacrolimus often resolves the itch, redness, and tenderness of steroid-induced rosacea but it should be taken after a dermatologist’s guidance.
Conclusions The combination of silymarin and S-MSM can be useful in managing symptoms and condition of rosacea skin, especially in the rosacea subtype 1 erythemato-telangiectatic phase. t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
As you have red areas and postules, it may be an allergy of some sort, or Rosacea. Rosex is a metronizadole cream helped my Rosacea. I was getting sore red skin with spots.
Importantly, the skin complaint need to be identified as to exactly what it is. I can see you suffer from acne, but sometimes you can get a diiffernt skin complaint as well.

Hi Dr. I'm a 27 yr old female. I went to my dermatologist today because my cheeks have been red for the past couple of days. I also have some hair loss, fatigue, and my feet get cold. I have a low thyroid and I was told those were symptoms of my hypothyroidism. My question is the redness of my face is flat, on both cheeks, and doesn't have acne on it. I don't think that's a symptom of hypothyroidism. I'm scared it could be a lupus malar rash.
