Because of a complicated dental issue, I've been on multiple antibiotics in the last few months (long story):
1. May 10: Penicillin VK 500mg tab (6 days) and Metronidazole 250mg tab (7 days) 4x per day for both
2. Jun 6: Amoxicillin 500mg; 4 tablets immediately then 1 pill 3x per day (2 weeks)
3. Jun 21: Augmentin 875mg + 125mg additives, 2x per day (3 weeks)
4. Sep 16: Clindamycin 300 mg, 3x per day (16 days)
I am concerned by the number and duration of these antibiotics courses.
Metronidazole and clindamycin are shown to be effective against anaerobic microorganisms, though tinidazole was the most recently approved antimicrobial agent for BV treatment, and is considered an alternative antimicrobial agent, particularly whenever metronidazole and clindamycin are unavailable or not tolerated. Being a second generation nitroimidazole with a longer half-life than metronidazole, it requires lower dosages, to be taken less frequently than metronidazole.
s swollen, and it got worse very quickly, now my mouth is in throbbing pain and it hurts to move my face/mouth/lips. My doctor prescribed me 300mg clindamycin. How long until my pain goes away?!? Took my first (double) dose an hour ago and I'm in so much pain still, I'm sweating and can't think of anything else!!! Please help!!! Any rule of thumb for how long it takes for the pain to subside?
Antibiotics are often targeted to work on some bacteria better than others. Are they suggesting a different antibiotic to rid of staph? Hi, I took Clindamycin 300 mg 3x a day. I only finished 12 out of 21 pills as I feared the high risk of colitis associated with this drug. My question is that after stopping the medication about 3 days ago, I am having long (6"+), loose stools. Could this be c. diff? I also have a lot of gas throughout the day, some mild abdominal pain too.
hate my situation should i prescribe my self with anti biotics in a hit or miss kind of way, can any one suggest of taking metronidazole or clindamycin or fluconazol is a good idea at this point.
i don't like the way my penis look right now, i know there is a yeast or bacteria doing damage.
I'm sorry you really need to go into the doctor or see your nurse friend and get this wound checked. They should do a culture if it is infected. Different bacteria require different antibiotics so one may just make it worse by allowing other bacteria to take over. Also, a shortened dose of a antibiotic (such as 11 pills) or too low of a dose like the clindamycin 150mg, may cause resistance if it doesn't kill all the bacteria. So first you have to find out if you even have an infection.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Is an excruciating headache a sign of a reaction to clindamycin? I can't take it anymore, and my CT scan came back clean. I'm on the antibiotic as a preventative measure after sinus surgery (I'm about a week out). There's no infection, and all the drainage, etc. is normal.
I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD.

I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
I have been prescribed Clindamycin to clear up a possible tooth infection. I was wondering if anyone has had any heart rhythm problems attributed to antibiotics. I have pvcs/pacs, all tests, ekg, echo has come back completely normal. Im just worried about taking a new medication,, afraid it may cause the palpitations to be worse, better yet cause a dangerous arrythmia!! Any advice would be great!!

About 5 weeks ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and the oral surgeon prescribed me Clindamycin to prevent infection. A day or two after I finished my prescription I noticed that I wiped up a little blood on the toilet paper after going to the bathroom. I looked it up on the internet, and it said blood from the rectum could possibly be due to antibiotics, so I thought no big deal. I was also taking Ibuprofin and Vicodin for pain during the antibiotics.
Because I have an artificial joint I take 600mg of Clindamycin Prior to dental work. I han root canal done on a tooth under a permanent bridge a year ago by a General Dentist. One hour start to finish. It was infected, but I was never given any additional antibiotics. Since that time had an ongoing foul taste and odor when I used Water Flosser daily. The adjacent tooth became infected and also required a root canal. This time done by an Endadontist.
You can develop resistance to a STAT-C drug however. So when someone is choosing a trial with a STAT-C drug involved, you want to choose with care - the same will apply when undergoing treatment with a STAT-C drug when they finally get to market. You want a doctor/treatment team who understands the issues and you'll want to understand them yourself so that your first attempt with a STAT-C drug is as hopefully your last.
