I previously took Clindamycin which worked great for a few months, but then stopped working. However, that was before the 2 teeth were pulled. I'm wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out.
My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
All my symptoms point to Black Piedra and I was in Chennai India for 10 days but that was 2 years ago. No fungal treatment over the last 3 months is working. My head has been shaved for 2 months but the black crust keeps growing out covering the hair from inside the follicle. When my hair was longer it felt like grains of sand but nothing would ever fall out.
Cephalexin (Keflex) is a good antibiotic as well. The similarity with penicillin is only important for people who are allergic to penicillin (as they will also be allergic to keflex). Personally, I would go with Azithromycin (or Clindamycin) if penicillin isn't working, but Cephalexin is different enough it might work. You can tell if its working if the pain/swelling go away in 4-5 days.
The doctor who had prescibed it to me told me to discontinue it immediately when I explained my symptoms and gave me a different antibiotic. Now, I am scared to death because the Pennicillen is not working and I know that he is going to prescribe the Clindymiacin. I cannot take it!!! Is there any other antibiotic he could prescibe that wouldn't make me so sick and miserable? Since the pennicillen is not working, does that mean that amoxicillen wouldn't work?
The clindamycin may not be working. You might wanna call your dentist to see/evaluate the swelling because the swelling shouldn't be there. Anytime there's problems with opening the mouth is a cause of concern cause it means the muscles may be pinched by the abscess. If you have any problems with breathing or swallowing, I'd strongly recommend going to the ER and switching antibiotics.
I had missed one dose of the clindamycin. The er doctor gave me again clindamycin via iv. My face swelled up again but started pussing at my gums after a while. She told me to keep taking it despite the swelling and sent me home with a follow up oral surgeon. I didn't take it all night and my face had gone down to half the size by morning! It felt so much better and lighter. I couldnt get a hold of my dentist or the oral surgeon to ask their opinion on continuing with this antibiotic.
ve been seeing a skin specialist!! but her medicines are not working!!! Ciprofloxacin is not working so I just started clindamycin over d counter!!! Near my site of infection which is my back having more than 20 small boil (more look like acne boils). I had peeling of skin!! as if all dirt and tan is out!! but it was my skin which was peeling!!! very light peeling not deep one!! now my back looks more fresh and soft!!
No this did not help. I really did not find out what is in Clindamycin.
because it was not there before. Could this be HPV? The antifungal lotions are not working. Should I try to get Imiquimod or Tazarotene to rid of this redness and spot? What if doxycline does not resolve meatus inflammation? I have been two urologists and three dermatologists. Should I opt for a biopsy? This is causing severe mental stress. Please help.

Calcium salts and magnesium salts that are present in food and dairy products can form chelates and impair absorption of some medications, however, this is not the case with clindamycin. Clindamycin can be taken with or without food. They may have been thinking of tetracycline.
Hi...sorry I can not help u as I am not familiar with the meds or their "testbook" side effects.Please keep in mind, everyone is different and u can have symptoms that r not listed.
See ur PCP and ask if the meds can be causing the symptoms or if something else is the root of ur GERD.
I would also imagine that it depends where ur hiatial hernia is located....mine causes me to hiccup....but I am not sure if there is nething else.
I have two failed implants due to infection which did not respond to Clindamycin. I also got a bad reaction to Clindamycin a feeling of big lump in throat, sore throat and severe heartburn. In spite of the fact that I drank at least 10ounces of water with each pill.
My question is since I'm allergic to penicillin. What antibiotic is effective for teeth and gum infections????

Clindamycin is different and is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria, not yeast or fungus. Clindamycin can create a situation in which you get a yeast infection. It's not used to treat a yeast infection but fluconazole is.
Is an excruciating headache a sign of a reaction to clindamycin? I can't take it anymore, and my CT scan came back clean. I'm on the antibiotic as a preventative measure after sinus surgery (I'm about a week out). There's no infection, and all the drainage, etc. is normal.
I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD.

t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
The biggest problem with clindamycin is GI problems. It is not one of the antibiotics know to affect heart rhythmn. Erthromycin, Biaxcin, Zithromax and some of the flouroquinolones are the ones that can do that. That being said, I have taken Zithromax a bunch of times as well as Cipro, with no big problems. The Zithromax seems to make my heart beat a little bit faster but that could just be me and worrying about it.
Hi, I'm a 24 yr old male.
About 5 weeks ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and the oral surgeon prescribed me Clindamycin to prevent infection. A day or two after I finished my prescription I noticed that I wiped up a little blood on the toilet paper after going to the bathroom. I looked it up on the internet, and it said blood from the rectum could possibly be due to antibiotics, so I thought no big deal.
