Avatar f tn Thanks! I just saw a doctor today (not a derm) and he was pretty informative. He said accutane too. Third doctor to say that. And he said it looks like it could be gram negative or staphylococcus folliculitis. He didn't do any tests but let me see a book with pictures. Mine is so much worse than the worst pictures in there. Crazy. Anyway, he decided to treat it like gram negative folliculitis. Gave me aterax to take 3 times a day for the extreme itching.
1818084 tn?1317789958 Then I did a Gram Stain test done on a penile discharge swab and it came up with gram negative bacillus and then I again did the same test to do the culture. and the next time it came up with staphylococcus aureus. Now my question is that : Should I be worried about gonorrhea or chlamydia or NSU? staphylococcus aureus is gram + and the 1st time it came with gram - do I Need treatment for both?
Avatar f tn The gram staining showed Negative for Trichomoniasis and Monilia. But says many coccobacilli, few gram positive bacilli with many pus cells and clue cells noted. Pap smear says I have Benign reactive changes (typical repair) and pathologist wrote "Severe acute inflammation". The itchiness and swelling subsided a bit with the antibiotic but the purulent discharge is still there but I no longer have to wear pantyliners cause it no longer leaks out.

Avatar f tn I know I've had BV for a couple of months (since I finished a course of antibiotics for previous UTI caused by e.coli). The odor after intercourse is a clear sign. I did not want to see my doctor AGAIN for a problem "down there" , so I just lived with it. Now I have another UTI! Preliminary path. report states:" 50x10(6) CFU/L Gram negative Bacilli. Identification and susceptibility to follow. " I really don't want to go on meds again, but probably have no choice.
Avatar n tn My friend is 43 yrs old hispanic male, who has been dianosed with gram negative toe infection. He has this for the past 5 yrs. I would like to know is their a cure for this? Or a study out there that he can participate. Please help.
Avatar f tn The 4th dr who examined me (and who participated in the surgery) did a gram stain of my discharge but was not bothered of the gram negative rods in the lab result. Her senior who reviewed my lab results, prescribed taking of metrodinazole and thats barely two weeks before my scheduled operation. After the operation, the doctors told me that surgery wasnt necessary, and I could have just treated with antibiotics. They prescribed clindamycin (4x/d) and doxycyclin (2x/d) for two weeks.
Avatar f tn Gram-negative simply meens that the bacteria did not stain with negative dye, negative bacteria is harder to kill with antibiotics than positive. Don't worry it is a good thing. I am a nurse.
Avatar f tn Borrelia is neither gram negative nor gram positive, but in the past, it was mistakenly thought to be gram negaive. Some old publications out there still call it gram negative (incorrectly). Here is a good biological description. http://textbookofbacteriology.net/Lyme.html Bartonella has been known to cause skin lesions. Have you been tested at IGeneX for it? You might want to get tested for both b.henselae and b.quintana (I don't know who offers tests b.quintana.

Avatar f tn By this time my right breast was also swollen and also had some blisters, although a lot fewer than the left. They gave me clindamycin through IV and both the redness and swelling went down dramatically within 45 minutes. But my culture came back positive for herpes--no typing. I developed a low fever and also a sore throat with a white ulcer in the back of my throat.
Avatar m tn Gram negative diploccoci typically means gonorrhea but should be confirmed with a urine test or culture. There are other Gram neg diploccoci out there as well. It's impossible to tell who carrried the STD first unless your wife can prove she did not have any sexual encounters. However, how would you know 100% that's the truth? It's unlikely that you would carry a gonorrhea infection for that long without knowing, but it's possible. You could have been asymptematic.
Avatar m tn hi doc. today i got my test result. gram postive and gram negative were found in swab test. gonorrhea and chlamydia are both negative. since i had read a lot on the forum before i went to the test, i know the proper treatment for ngu is doxicycline or azithromynthin. but my doctor insisted on cefixime for ngu when i told him what i heard about on the internet. so my question: is cefixime effective against ngu, specifically gram negative and gram positive in my case?
Avatar f tn Hi I Was Recently Sick and Had To Begin taking an antibiotic called Clindamycin. Will I Be Okay To Drink Alcohol While On This Medication. I Have Read That This Antibiotic Doesn't Have Any Negative Affects While Drinking Alcohol. But Just Wanted To Double Check.
Avatar n tn s test came back negative for both 1 and 2. Also I had taken a 300mg of Clindamycin a few days prior to my blood test. This has me worried. What does the test results mean when it comes up equivocal? Could the Clindamycin mess with my results? And why do test come out equivocal?
Avatar m tn t even look at my scalp and prescribed me with doxycycline for a whole year 2 pills a day, but after being on the antibiotic I think I have developed gram-negative folliculitus which cause large pimples to appear on my nose ( boils in other words). I know that I should stop taking the antibiotics to stop the gram-negative folliculitus but this time around the folliculitus on my scalp has become itchy and painful.
Avatar m tn about 2 months ago i had an encounter with a csw, portected oral and intercours, a week later and a huge amount of guilt later , i went to the gum clinic where they took a urine sample and done a gram stain test.
Avatar m tn really no reason to think you have a std since so far all your testing is negative and you had such a low risk encounter too. a gram stain doesn't really look for specific std's either, it just reports on abnormal cells present. at this point, be seen by an urologist for further work up. make sure they examine your prostate too when you are seen.
