My dad is 81 and has chronic pseudomonas infection in his lungs. He also has COPD. This is his 4th round of getting this infection in 3 years. He just got out of the hospital from a 5 day stay 3 weeks ago and did a 10 day pick line antibiotic. His Dr called today and he still has the infection. They are calling it a 4+ pseudomonas infection. (whatever that means). He has done every antibiotic there is (pill form, nebulizer, inhalers and pick line) for this and nothing is working anymore.
but my face swelled up and the doctor gave me clindamycin i take 2 150mg 4 times a day.. well the other day wen the left side of my face swelled first i started having yellow liquid dripping from my nose and it stinks really bad.. the smell stays on the tissue and in my nose sometimes wen i breathe through my mouth i can taste a horrible taste.. going to get my tooth pulled wen/if the swelling goes down, but the stink in my nose and it just pouring out constantly is really bothering me..
My wife has had chronic sinus infections for years. She was recently advised that a culture shows that pseudomonas bacteria is the culprit this time. However, she was also advised that she is allergic to all of the antibiotics used to kill the bacteria. Any suggestions?

same problem over here,now im going for 4th surgery wish will open all sinuses and then going for heawy treatman with antibiotics..in your and any ones case test your self with long specialist for lung cistyse fibrosis as thei cause lung infections and polyps together with pseudomonas bacterie..only adequate ventilation+antibiotics can remove theis bacterie from body,nothing else...in case of lung cistyse fibrisys =sorry no cure...
My 7y girl has had uti for three years and has several types of antibiotics last one was amoxicillin/clavulanic acid,57mg. She now has Pseudomonas and doctor wants to give her cipro. think I should handle this differantly?
Is there anything else that I can do in treating the pseudomonas. I wake up every morning full of congestion in my chest and cough for about 2 hrs in the morning and then through out the day. It is a productive cough.

I am 45 yrs old and developed acute redness,pain, swelling, and a large hard area on my left breast. I had a temp of 101.3,headache etc but was being treated for the flu. So, I am not sure if the temp was from the flu or breast infection.
I saw a surgeon ( who has done 2 benign breast biopsies on the left breast in the past) who did an ultrasound. It showed a large area of inflammation but no specific pocket of infection and 2 cysts that I did not know I had.
I was hospitalized in January for an infected port a cath (pseudomonas) which turned into sepsis. I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox. The VRE came back, in my urine, and I was hospitalized again last week and put back on Zyvox (oral this time). I am also on IV clindamycin and azithromycin, and a long list of other medications. While in the hospital they did daily blood work, of course, and my results have gotten progressively worse.
t work - you will also need 3 injections of Rocephin - 3 days in a row, as this is the drug of choice for pseudomonas. As for not getting your ear wet - you can make a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol - equal parts and put 3-4 drops your ear(s) after getting water in the ears and this will kill the bacteria. Recently, I discovered that I have had pseudomonas aeruginosa in my lungs for 9 years. I had thought that I had had this for 2-3 years. It has caused pneumonia that has been difficult to get rid of. I have been a patient at your facility in January, 2009, but no treatment was given to get rid of my pseudomonas. I really want this to be cured and know there has to be a way to cure it, even if it is a clinical trial. I am a 56 year old female.
I am in in the Air Force and have been deployed to the Middle East for about 4.5 months. I contracted what the doctors seem to think is Athlete's Foot about 3 months ago and have been recieving treatment that started out as Lotrimin cream, then Ketoconazole cream, Anti Fungal Powders, and now I have been on Diflucian (oral anti fungal) for the past 9 weeks.
I wouldn't even treat for "possible infection" with either. I'd wait for test results to come back to see if you even have either of them.
clindamycin isn't going to help for either if you should be infected with either of them. you are wasting your time and money by taking it.
I have ALWAUS been very healthy, until this sinus/ear/pseudomonas crap! The Infectious Desease Dr. Ran test on me for mono/ HIV-1 & HIV-2, among many other tests ALL of the blood work came bsvk neg. As of today I had another culture extracted in office to send to the lab, my sinuses are still inflamed and I am starting ANOTHER round of steroids to help. And at least get me thru until next week when I go back to my ENT to see what the results of the culture are.
different trich infection than the std infection. trichomonas in a trach is not the same as trichomoniasis , the std.
if you are washing your hands after caring for this patient , you really aren't at risk for pseudomonas or trichomonas from their trach. If their trach secretions tend to fly out a lot, make sure you are using goggles when suctioning them. Same with it also helps protect you from mrsa too.
I first blew my nose into my fingers and then scraped my fingers to the edge/top of the collection container (which is actually a urine sample container) and i kept doing this a few times a day for a couple of days. I have found out that pseudomonas live on our skin naturally. I believe its the aeruginosa type. Im stuck right now because I dont know if the pseudomona is actually from my nose or if it came from my fingers. Im pretty sure the staph epidemitis came from my fingers.
I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
Sorry, that is something I don't have experience with and not sure if it ties into Lyme disease.

I have a pretty bad case of Hot Tub Folliculitis after going in my parents' spa.
It is pretty unsightly & I have bumps covering my flanks, abdomen, underwear line, and buttocks with some spotting on thighs.
I am actually not too itchy or uncomfortable. I know it usually clears up on its own, but I've heard antibiotics are prescribed for more severe cases. I'd consider mine pretty bad, but again, I'm not too uncomfortable. Should I wait it out?
m not sure if the spots on the back of my throat are attributed to mild acid reflux, stress, antibiotics (I was taking Clindamycin vaginally for BV during the week i slept with the guy), or oral gonorrhea, or ARS.
