I had BV about 6 weeks ago (which was causing cramps, I have had this before), I had a prescription for Clindamycin handy so I took that for 7 days (this is the 5th time I've had BV so can easily recognise it).
After completing the antibiotics the smell, watery discharge went away.
I then started to bleed during and after intercourse, and the cramps disappeared for a few days but then came back much worse, though no smell or discharge like BV.
I've been reading the posts about chlamydia. If we can't have it for three or four years, for example, without knowing it, how is it that it causes PID and infertility? Wouldn't it need to be around for years to cause these complications? Thanks!
They prescribed clindamycin (4x/d) and doxycyclin (2x/d) for two weeks. My boyfirend went for check up a week after my operation and got + with chlamydia. but he has no smyptoms and he told me that his last contact was 2 yrs ago.
I was just bothered how come the drs have not hinted its not ovarian cysts but a PID due chlamydia infection?
Oh, no you cant take any antibiotics for PID. PID is treated immediately with antibiotics for at least 1 week. Sometimes PID is caused by more than one type of bacteria and a combination of antibiotics that are effective against a range of bacteria are usually prescribed. PID may require hospitalization.
I wouldn't even treat for "possible infection" with either. I'd wait for test results to come back to see if you even have either of them.
clindamycin isn't going to help for either if you should be infected with either of them. you are wasting your time and money by taking it.
I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
Started treatment for chlamydia on Tuesday 4th then treatment changes on the 6th to treat chlamydia and PID had sex on the 8th and the condom split , what should i do?
Your doctor does an assessment for PID during your internal exam. No pain with the exam, not likely you have PID.
If you haven't had a full std screen yet why not ask for one to cover the bases? Your future fertility could be at risk though if you always use condoms except for oral sex, the risk of contracting a bacterial std is very , very low.
MC can't be tested for without obvious lesions present.
Trich also isn't routinely tested for unless you have symptoms of vaginitis.

m not sure if the spots on the back of my throat are attributed to mild acid reflux, stress, antibiotics (I was taking Clindamycin vaginally for BV during the week i slept with the guy), or oral gonorrhea, or ARS.
if they see anything suspicious for gonorrhea or chlamydia, they can send it off to the lab for confirmatory testing. there are also bedside tests they can do for bv if they don't have a microscope in their clinic to use. you don't leave that clinic until they've properly tested you for infections vaginally!!!!!
Thank you so much for your response. May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.
Hoping that Clindamycin will work...If the Clindamycin does not work...is there another medicine that could do the trick?
