I was also taking Clindamycin after oral surgery and started have mucus, watery, diarrhea and saw alittle blood(pinkish) and this went on for 1 week. I finally went to the dr today, I have Clostridium Difficile Colitis and it is from taking Clindamycin it is a severe side effect. So now I am on Vancomycin for the Colitis and 2 other medications for the diarrhea....If you look up Clindamycin you will see that it can cause Colitis.

Do I eat Greek organic yogurt with a meal and then take the pill three times a day or do I take the meal with the probiotics
I am 27 year old male, in September 2017 I suffered from an acute throat infection so my ENT doctor gave me clindamycin and since then I am having acute diarrhea with pain in my lower abdomen. The pain starts and I feel the urgent need of going for bowel movement and as soon as I am done the pain goes away. There is no blood in the stool but it watery all the time and yellow in color. This happens about 4-5 times daily.
About a week ago after I finished the clindamycin I had absolute crazy diarrhea, abdominal pain(mostly radiating from my right side) and loss of appetite. I was tested for cdiff. By my dr and the test came back -. My GI seems to think I my gallbladder was the culprit sent me for an ultrasound and that came back - for gallbladder problems. It did point out that I have a slightly fatty liver though. Can an ultrasound miss gallbladder issues?

I had taken an doxycycline and clindamycin for about a year for an infection. It caused me to have digestive problems. Will It ever get better or will it be permanant? I have also been told it caused some anxiety. So I noticed my temperature has always been 98.5-98.8 and now it is 97.1-97.6 all the time. Well I felt like I had a slight fever one day and it said 98.2. Is it normal for your normal temp to drop? It has been like that for a few months now.
Is an excruciating headache a sign of a reaction to clindamycin? I can't take it anymore, and my CT scan came back clean. I'm on the antibiotic as a preventative measure after sinus surgery (I'm about a week out). There's no infection, and all the drainage, etc. is normal.
If significant diarrhea occurs during therapy, this antibiotic should be discontinued (see WARNING BOX). Did you happen to read that?
Hi, I took Clindamycin 300 mg 3x a day. I only finished 12 out of 21 pills as I feared the high risk of colitis associated with this drug. My question is that after stopping the medication about 3 days ago, I am having long (6"+), loose stools. Could this be c. diff? I also have a lot of gas throughout the day, some mild abdominal pain too.
The dentist can prescribe based upon his clinical judgement but generally, clindamycin is prescribed at 150 to 300mg every 6 hours, with 300mg being a stronger dosage to kill bacteria. He may be concerned with some side effects of the antibiotics.
about a year ago i was proscribe clindamycin and ever since then i been having problems i was taking it after i got my root canal done i was taking it four times a day of 300mg one day i had uncontrollable diarrhea that was orange i kept taking the the medication for a few more days and i kept on having diarrhea then i stopped taking it. it took about a week to stop having diarrhea but then my pooh started to have mucus in it.
Please let me know what the doctor says. There are other reasons for diarrhea, such as some drugs like Prilosec can give you diarrhea but not usually stomach pain. Also, if you had antibiotics such as clindamycin you could get another bacteria that causes diarrhea that needs a different antibiotic and soon. Also, sometimes you could have an intestinal problem such as Crohns disease or other GI problem it depends.

After my hospital stay, I was sent home with Clindamycin and Ampicillin capsules to take for 5 days. I had diarrhea for 4 days straight and called the Dr. She told me to stop taking the medicines immediately. About 4 days later, I was stricken with severe abdominal cramping, nausea and watery diarrhea. I was rushed to the emergency room and had CT scans, abdominal XRays, and stool samples taken. I was diagnosed with C. diff.
I was prescribed Erythromycin and following that Clindamycin. Approximately a week after I stopped the medication I had a sudden and severe onset of diarrhea. I waited several days and when it didn't stop I saw a family M.D. He ordered a stool culture and some additional tests on the stool all which came out negative. Initially he thought it was a result of the antibiotics however with the negative lab results he no longer believes this is the problem and wants me to get a colonoscopy.

Iwent to see a doctor on thursday who prescribed flagyl 500 3 times a day for a possible infection. I took 2 on thursday and felt numbness in my right big toe.
I had some teeth extracted and had a bit of discomfort a few days after. I am allergic to Penicillin, so my oral surgeon prescribed Clindamycin 150mg 4 times daily, for 7 days.(November 5th )
Mouth pain went away and about the first week of December (one month later) and up to this date, i have lose stools, not quite diarreha but they are soft and accompanied by mucous like substance. Stress has always been a big part of my life, but never a problem so i am ruling that out.
the main reason is that the clindamycin is a very powerful antibiotic (my doctor put me on 450mg of clindamycin) the down side is clindamycin can kill everything in your body. that includes the good bacteria in your intestine called gut flora. if the good bacteria dies it can make way for a bad bacteria that's immune to clindamycin to grow in your intestine. eating the yogurt (especially yogurts with "probiotics" in them) will help keep your gut flora levels up right now.
Today, twice so far, I have gone to use the bathroom and all that came out was clear w/ yellow tingle and slightly bloody mucus. Nothing brown or diarrhea like, just this mucus. Should i be worried? Anyone have this or had this and seen a doc? Its Saturday and my doc not available till Monday.
Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

On Thursday (yesterday)I went to the doctor who prescribed flagyl 500mg 3 times a day for what he thought was a bowel infection and requested a stool sample.I took 2 on that day but developed numbness in my right big toe and felt generally unwell.
It is 3 weeks now that i have severe diarrhea and horrible stomach pains. Been to the doctor again she said it is normal because it is a strong antibiotic (as i can not use penecilline, allergic to it) and told i had to use probiotics. I am taking probiotics now. I am really worried in case the antibiotics have caused a stomach ulcer. Is it possible?
Last week, on Tuesday, I had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin 150mg/3 per day, which I started taking by Thursday. I have been taking them for about a week now while going through some of its most irritating side-effect, diarrhea, for which I will be tested for C-difficil. However, last night I also began to experience some chest pains. I am experiencing them now also, as I just woke up.

I had a month long case of diarrhea after he use of Clindamycin. Dr's first thought it was a stomach bug but one day I suffered the most terrible cramping Ive ever felt along with yellow burning diarrhea.Cdiff was suspected. I was treated with Flagyl things seemed to get better. But my diarrhea returned. I had a colonoscopy that showed no problems. Was checked for Colitis, crohns celiac and all were negative. Three tests for cdiff were also negative. The Dr. diagnosed IBS.
