Never breast fed and my kids are both school age now. I am allergic to Penicillins, Flagyl, Clindamycin, and Macrobid.
On christmas eve I woke up with both of my breasts swollen by two cup sizes and with a sore redness on the undersides of both. I went to a walk in clinic because my GP was closed for the holiday and they diagnosed bilateral mastitis and prescribed me bactrim.
10 days later I was no better - in fact I was worse. Now I had headaches, body aches, chills, and nausea.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
So i was deciding not to BF any more but i wasnt sure when would be a good time, since i have mastitis and the medication that im on the ER dr told me to pump and dump for the next 10 days, so i figured this would be a good time to stop BF. My question is does the mastitis go away from the antibiotics or do i need to pump, I was hopn by me not pumping my supply would dry up and the mastitis would clear up from the antibiotics.
I've been breastfeeding for 1.5 years and experienced mastitis for abour 3, 4 times. But for the past days my right nipple became really painful when I nursed. The nipple looks just fine, but i feel a small and hard lump in the nipple where the pain locates.
I saw my ob-gyn yesterday but she didn't feel it and didn't think anything wrong with it. But she suggested i see a surgeon if it lasts for another week. The lump is just there how come she didn't feel it?
Has anyone had to deal with mastitis and or breast abscess? I had my baby last week and I've either got mastitis or breast abscesses AGAIN /: i was trying to pump but i can't deal with the pain anymore yet I'm scared to stop >< did anyone give up or stop breastfeeding/pumping? What was your outcome?
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.

If you are having bleeding from your nipple, I'd get seen by a doctor. Agree it could be mastitis or an infection. See a doctor and let us know what they say!!!
Hi I have been diagnosed with Mycobacterium Mageritense in the breasts both and that has also caused Granulomatous Mastitis. Im 45 and have lost 1/2 of right breast and part of my left breast. have read that this could take years to clear up im on very heavy duty antibiotics at the moment and looking at another operation. is there any information or literature that i can read to help me Thanks Patricia

has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
Hi I Was Recently Sick and Had To Begin taking an antibiotic called Clindamycin. Will I Be Okay To Drink Alcohol While On This Medication. I Have Read That This Antibiotic Doesn't Have Any Negative Affects While Drinking Alcohol. But Just Wanted To Double Check.

I went to my family MD with a breast lump, lump under my arm, and all the classic Mastitis symptoms. Mammogram and ultrasound did not detect a problem. 4 rounds of antibiotics and 2 rounds of steroids later, still have a lump. Had a repeat ultrasound last week that detected a 1cm by 3/4 cm lump and 5 enlarged lymph nodes. Biopsies on both came back benign, thank God!
Thanks, i've been on anitbiotics for 1 day and it's pretty much gone. I'm going to the Dr. tomorrow but i'm almost sure it's not IBC. Thanks very much for the advice.
and also whats the differnts between chronic mastitis and subareola abscess because thats the only 2 breat infections i could come up with please i need help if anyone knows anything on this let me know since the drs dont seem to care and thats scary theres no good dr. anymore that actually care they treat u more like a pay check than a person

Ok, thanks ladies. My mom had mastitis and told me it's extremely painful. I'm just freaking out. Between l&d and the after birth pains, I'm just so nervous and paranoid to be in an immense amount of pain again:( I feel like I've had all I can take. I'll try your suggestions and see how it goes. Ty!!
It can get really bad, I had it... And I stopped producing milk and felt like I was sick with the flu. Infections like that can raise your body temperature, cause fevers and always have the possibility of affecting the bloodstream! As soon as you think you have it, go to the doctor to get the correct antibiotics!
