Avatar n tn i am alergic too baxin, ceftin, augmentin, bactrim, levaquin, well she said i shouldnt be allergic to clindamycin, but i read the phamplet that came wth it and it talked about fatal reactions from diahrea. so long story short, because of having reactions to others i am terrified to take this. i tried for dentist to change it but her assistant was adamant about it. i havent taken it yet. its been two weeks i have been trying to decide.
Avatar n tn I was suffering an allergic (or now known as normal) reaction to Levaquin. He called the ER for me and found that it was Levaquin in the IV I was given. Sorry for the long story, but the bottom line is I still have horrible leg and joint pain. I have been to Ortopaedic MD's who belive it must be a pinched nerve, been taken off certain cholesterol lowering meds, etc. All to no avail. The pain never goes away. It is like having a 24/7 flu in my legs. I do not know what recourse I have.
458072 tn?1291418786 It is now trying to move into my lungs(bronchitis). I have had 2 rounds of Levaquin, an injection of Rocephin and dexamethazone and it is STILL not clearing up. I hated to take those antibiotics in the first place. They are always a LAST LAST resort for me. Probiotics have been taken for the issue these cause, but does anyone know of anything else I can try that will work. I am supposed to go back to the dr tomorrow but I just don't want another round of antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Over the past couple of months I have been treated for prostatitis using Doxy, Cipro, and Levaquin at any given time. 7 weeks ago I was on Doxy, then 1 week of Levaquin, and the past couple of weeks on Cipro. I do allow stimulation of my scrotum via mouth, hence my question. Over the past 7 weeks I have had a couple of guys lick my scrotum, and masturbate my penis with their hands.
Avatar m tn Back side of my knees feel a little stiff - still random dull nerve pains in my thighs - red spot on the roof of my mouth is still there but fading away, sometimes it gives me a dull pain with itchiness - I have this strange small sharp pains in my stomach on each side of the belly button, they come and go - met an urologist and told me to do 4 weeks of levaquin as he feels that maybe my prostate is a little bit irritated - when I sleep I feel like the lymph nodes in the armpit are a littl
Avatar f tn She conferred with my infectious disease doctor (who didn't really believe the swelling but was out of town and could not see me) but that doctor suggested a Levaquin 750 mg and Flagyl 1500mg daily combo. It started working against the infection, but the Levaquin started making me very panicky at night and caused unbearable sleeplessness. I had no reaction to the Flagyl, but it by itself doesn't cover all the bacteria.
Avatar f tn I'm allergic to Murpirocin, neosporin, bacitracin, clindamycin, metronidazole all topicals and had a syncope from a tetracycline type drug. My brother is anaphylaxic to penicillin. It sounds like you can tolerate Mupirocin but the topical isn't enough for your tissue infection. Celluitis can be pretty deep in the tissue so if it isn't working either the bacteria are resistant to it or it isn't penetrating the tissue well enough. You could ask to try mupircin oral and see if that works better.
Avatar n tn Yesterday morning I finished a 10-day dose of clindamycin for a tooth infection and that seems to have done the trick. I had used Zithromax for 5 days a month ago for a sore throat but that didn't affect the dizziness. The allergist's interpretation for this is that either Zithromax was not the right type of antibiotic or the 5-day treatment was not enough. Depending on the result of the CT scan, I might have to continue taking antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Endodonist said there was pus -- infection. I have had allergic reaction to Levaquin and AzitheraI and have had side effects diarrhea and lightheaded from Cefdinir and Cephalexin so he prescribed Cipro 500mg. Said he doesn't usually prescribe but given that it have taken Cipro 250mg in the past (or urinary tract infection with no side effects. Is Cipro as effective as other antibiotics for dental infection?
1994720 tn?1352745833 I did an interaction checker and side effect checker for the meds I'm on and a few cause dry mucous membranes and urinary retention. I wonder if this is why I got this raging yeast infection and the reason I can't get rid of it? Could vaginal dryness (which can cause vaginal wall thinning) do this?
Avatar f tn I've been tested for everything from HIV to all the inflammatory diseases and don't have anything else than this infection going on. Levaquin 750 paired with Flagyl 500 (3x daily) seemed to be working but I had a very bad reaction to the Levaquin and had to be taken off it. I am so desperate to get better, please if anyone can offer any suggestions I'd be so grateful.
Avatar f tn I began having the flu feeling and high fevers again, and in desperation put myself back on clindamycin. After going back on clindamycin, fevers and flu feelings were down again, jaw less fluid-filled, but still extremely sore/painful. It took longer for the clindamycin to work this time, and a new doctor concluded I may have developed some resistance to it after being on it for close to 2 months at that point.
Avatar m tn and yes I am taking similar to you like Nexium 1x but after seeing what you took I might take it 2x and also Maalox and yes I was taking Augmentin, Levaquin, amoxcillan Mucinex and feel like there is something stuck always at my chest... yes I too feel quality of life has gone down. Due to this I started working out everyday now.... for 1+ hr a day intensively doing Cardio and some weights.
Avatar n tn He felt it was a virus of some sort and that I should wait it out. Aspirin, Aleve helped with the symptoms and it appeared that when taking Aspirin, my fever was reduced and the headach essentially went away. I had been having persistent toothaches for a couple of weeks prior to the beginning of this problem which my oral surgeon treated with Amoxycillin. The Amoxycillin always brought the toothache infection under control.
Avatar f tn Now have finished 2 yrs on daily antibiotic (minocycline and levaquin). Was doing well but have very unsightly and widespread blackening of skin, which does not clear up I believe my darkened cataracts developed as my skin blackened, and that this blackening residue is possibly in all my organs. Have recently dropped back to single minocycline/day (100 mg) but believe cysts may already be redeveloping.
Avatar n tn Find out if anything will take away from the effects of the antibiotic. Consider Levaquin it is stronger and has better penetration into the prostate. Prostatitis is hard to cure once it gets past the acute phase. Blast this thing out of your system asap. Consider a good dose of Rocephrin, and doxycyclin might be effective against chlyamidia better.
Avatar n tn Next, lungs are severely infected=Bronchitis now. Its been 14 days and I'm missing University classes and am worried. Short of breath, using inhalers that don't work.I've been on Apo-Sulfatrim 800/160 2 times daily and small lung improvement. New problem: Today,Left Lymph node under mandible swollen and tender, throat sore. Lungs hurt, but now in central chest, not in upper L and R lung as last week? I am allergic to: penicillin, Erc/ Zithromax, clydomyicin, anything penicllin related.
Avatar n tn The doc put me on 2 more weeks of Levaquin, gave me Hydrocortisone Valerate for the itching and swelling on the penis, and gave me Clindamycin Topical gel for the folliculitis after the levaquin course was done. So, the infection in my penis went away, and has not come back. However, the pubic region started itching again, along with the area between my scrotum and thighs.
4451049 tn?1387157037 So I was put on Levaquin and the pains got even worse! I can't remember how long I stayed on Levaquin but maybe a month or more? (More evidence as to how dumb I can be.) Still no Achilles heel tendon problem. (Liars!) But I do know of people who just love it, had no problems with it and eliminated their Bart (if that can be believed, in the final analysis). They both deserve that Black Box warning. Or pulled----- since surely there might be other drugs that could do the same thing?
Avatar f tn Levaquin, there are some intracellulars that also work against Bart, such as the Biaxin/Plaquenil combo and Clindamycin. The headache on Clindamycin could have been a Lyme herx, but it could also have been a Bart herx. I mention this to say you don't have to suffer with chronic stomach pain on Rifampin indefinitely. There are other options if it doesn't go away. I am very glad to hear it's working! At least you can give your doc credit for being willing to learn.
Avatar n tn Went away for 4months. feb05 Pain again in frontal sinus area, put on ceftin 9days-levaquin 10 days then augmentin 10 days worked after 2 pill then on 9th day broke out in hives. given metholypredinsone 6 day pack for hives also worked great for sinuses draining. 4 weeks later little pain put on clindamycin 10day-levawquin 14day. Off to ENT continued clindamycin 20 days still had green drainage. Got CT scan.
Avatar n tn Was called later (maybe 5 days later or so) informed to stop and take levaquin instead. Took 7 then my Doctor told me to stop taking levaquin. ;-; I worry for my baby now. Besides that whole mess I hope that cyst don't come back. I've read they came back for others. Especially because I'm pregnant and I don't want a cyst to be in the way. >.< I think you're fine though. In your situation it doesnt seem like it gotten badly infected.
Avatar m tn He has a small patch of pneumonia on the lung uncured for about three months now, and he has been on and off Levaquin. The cardiologist saw this and told me that he thinks my father has months to live. He feels mental cloudiness and inability to walk are confirmation that the heart has become too weak to support normal function. The doctor holds out hope that if we can treat the pneumonia and any electrolyte imbalances that we might get him to snap out of this.
59010 tn?1315704716 I have worried about CHF as it is in my family hx and due to my COPD. It really scared me and I feel thankful to be alive and breathing. I am still very congested. I'm on a 40 mg Pred burst, Levaquin, Advair, Spiriva, Singulair. Can't seem to get to the clear state I was as before. X-ray showed no pneumonia, no blood clots etc. Any opinions?
2030686 tn?1351692148 Quinolones, such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro) and levofloxacin (Levaquin) Penicillins, such as amoxicillin and ampicillin Clindamycin (Cleocin) Cephalosporins, such as cefixime (Suprax) and cefpodoxime (Vantin) Other causes : Although antibiotics are by far the drugs most often associated with the development of pseudomembranous colitis, other medications may be responsible.
Avatar n tn As far as antibiotics - my daughter was on unisyn initially, then vancomycin, which was then switched to clindamycin and ceftriaxin, the last two for a total course of 4 weeks IV treatment. As far as where the tubing is, the last x-ray and MRI showed I would say 4 feet of tubing length, which I was told was left in there to allow for growth.
Avatar n tn C produced diarrhea for 2 weeks straight, then 2 months later I took Levaquin, and almost immediately, the symptoms began) The symptoms have gotten better after taking culterelle and vsl#3 however some sypmtoms still persist. I still have rectal bleeding when I strain, occasionally I have mucous ( maybe once a week). Occasionally, depending if I eat a lot, I'll get so uncomfortably bloated that it keeps me up all night.
577106 tn?1219842945 for more serious MRSA infections, antibiotics that may still work include vancomycin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, linezolid, tetracycline, or clindamycin. In your case, if a culture and sensitivity test was done and it showed it is sensitive to a particular antibiotic, this may treat the infection. It is important to finish the full course of antibiotics prescribed, even if you feel better before the final dose. This is to prevent the development of further drug resistance in the bacteria.
