Have the dentist wear non-latex gloves and avoid latex and see if you still get hives. And did you know that wiping any areas in contact with latex on your skin will deactivate the latex? Rinse with a mouthwash containing alcohol. Some metals will also produce hives. There are type I and type iv reactions, and in the past few years they have discovered that there can be delayed reactions to the protein in latex, not just to the chemical accelerants.
It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
My eight year old is allergic to amoxicillin, zithromax, clindamycin, and cefzil. We have seen an allergist, and he said there are no tests for antibiotics and that "we have a problem." Can someone please guide me in what to do next? My doctor was hoping the allergist would help guide us for future treatments. I am fearful for any infection like strep throat, ear or skin infections, we have run out of options.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
On May 10th she started sniffling and sneezing. Over a few days she developed hives on her snout, swollen glands under her arms, and congestion. After two weeks of cephalexin the hives went down, as well as her swollen glands. However, she became extremely lethargic, loss of appetite, weight loss, and hair loss/skin lesions. She was then started on a two week dose of doxy followed by two weeks of zenaquin. she has lost over 6lbs and was only 35lbs to begin with.
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.

The redness on top of penis tip changes from bright red when erect to mildy red when relaxed. There is a bright red spot that is about 1mm in size that the redness on tip seems to emanate from. Doctors don't think much of the redness although it is not "normal" because it was not there before. Could this be HPV?
My allergist has not prescibed cortisone because it is only a short term solution and the hives usually come back with a vengence. I am presently controlling my Hives with 10 mg of Zyrtec and then 50 mg of Benadryl, both taken at night. My palms and forearms are breaking out in VERY itchy hives. The hives that appear on my palm are actually under the skin and scratching does not allieviate the itching. Icing the spots and liquid antihystamines offer only temporary relief. Along with the hives, random fingers have been getting stiff and are difficult to bend. The pain goes away in one day, but the pain seems to jump to other fingers.

ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
my cousin has been taking hydrocodone and has had severe hives for 7 weeks now. she has quit taking the hydrocodone 6-7 weeks ago but the hives are still coming (every single day) and in different places on her body. is this an allergic reaction to the hydrocodone? and can it take this long for the hives to go away?
Thank you so much for your response. May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD.

I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
