Penicillin, ampicillin, cefotaxime are a similar drug class Cephaloporins and penicillin type drugs, and levofloxacin and cipro are also in their own drug class (quinolones) while vancomycin is a diffierent drug class.

Erythromycin and Cipro are both on the QT drug list that can cause prolongation of the QT interval on an ECG and can cause the arrhythmia Torsades de pointe. I have taken cipro a lot too and it hasn't bothered me before. But I recently took it and after 1 dose my heart started acting weird. Any antibiotic of that class can cause heart palpitations. Unfortunately, most of the antibiotics I can take have that potential side effect, I'm allergic to penicillin.
Hi wondering if anyone can help me please. A month ago I started to have cramping pain in lower abdomen and frequent urination . My doctor put me on macrobid but that didn't help . Then put me on cipro which didn't help either . The pain would come and go with lower back pain as well and getting up to urinate and bladder pressure all the time . After that my urine culture came back positive with group b strep . I'm not pregnant . My doctor gave me 7 days of penicillin .
my concern is that i go to get tested and it will read negative and I will pass it to my spouse I went back to my dr today and begged him to give me something else because ive read cipro is uslles so he gave me a shot disselin (I think thats how you spell it) and 14 days of doxy will this clear up syphilis,c and g . I had a B.B. type bump under the skin on back of my forearm. it was painful to touch, but thought it would go away. 3 days later I don't feel the B.B. type lil bump, but it's red, swollen, extremely painful and warm to touch and expanding in mass, but still under the skin. It is statistically very unlikely that any gonorrhea would be resistant to all 3 antibiotics you have received, i.e. cipro, azithromycin, and penicillin. Gonorrhea is no longer a concern.
The penicillin definitely will cure syphilis if you were exposed.
He felt my stomach and said I probably had an infection! He prescribed 2 antibiotics. Cipro and Flaygl. I had Cipro before so ok but after reading the potental side effects of the other I decided not to take it. I called the office and asked to be prescribed something else. They said since I am allergic to penicillin that flaygl was the only other antibiotic they could prescribe. I said I did not want to take it. The nurse said ok I will let him know that! Penicillin indeed is the treatment of choice, in fact the only recommended treatment. Cefalexin has never been studied against syphilis. It probably would have some activity, but cannot be considered reliable treatment -- and it could screw up further diagnostic testing, for example to judge whether it had actually worked.

I have had about 8-10 episodes, treated successfully with cipro and flagyl. In July 2014, I got hives on day 6 of treatment. Medication was stopped but dvt continued to improve. I do have some kind of pain in the penis, but there is no discharge or burning on urinating. The UTI test was while on Cipro, so I'm wondering how valid the negative is. And the lack of specific STI symptoms - I wonder if they could be moderated by the Cipro, but not fully eliminated. Just trying to figure out what course of action to take at this time.

hello again, I had went to my GP and got a swab culture for gon/chla. I should get the results on monday. My doctor seemed concerned and prescribed to me cipro 500mg and told me to take it promptly. My pharmacist thought it was unorthodox that my GP had only prescribed one pill. I came back to see same doctor a week later to inform him that I still feels pain in my Testes, perineum and buttocks. He told me that it might be epididymitis and gave 1 week cipro, came back a week later (week 2) just to tell him that symptoms has not declined and progresses to pins and needles sensation on my legs. he gave me anti anxiety meds (forgot the name). I see no need to re-test when yo finish your cipro. since you are taking the cipro and it seems to be helping, you should finish it. When you do, I see no need to re-test.
Your understanding of adenovirus is oncorrect. Adenovirus urethritis does not result from direct inoculation into the urethra. As I said early adenovirus is self-limited and does not last three weeks. Why re-test for something you can do nothing about but allow it to run its course.
So, in July, I received unprocted oral from another man. I was super drunk and it was like 2 or 3 minutes. I didn't ejaculate. Just need a neurologist`s expert opinion as to whether or not it is alright to take Augmentin with my myoclonic seizure condition. Do not want to start up any seizures. They never really hurt, but I could feel them as if they were slightly swollen. The doctor tested by urine and my blood and gave me an injection of penicillin and 7 days of cipro. The UTI symptoms (burning, bloating, etc.) went away immediately and have not returned. However, my kidneys were still tender even after finishing the antibiotics. I went back to another doctor and he prescribed me 10 more days of cipro without retesting my urine or blood.
cipro didn't work for my shooting pain- I think I have some inner prostate infection too. is the doxy safe for 3 months?
