Avatar m tn He did a urine test suspecting UTI and put me on macrobid(antibiotic) while he waited for the results. A week passed and there was no relief. Went back to GP and he said the results of the urinalysis and urine culture were normal but I told him about that the pain had since intensified. He did chest X-ray, abdominal X-ray, Tran rectal ultrasound, Digital Rectal Exam, PSA test suspecting it was prostatitis and while he waited for the results, he put me on a 10 day dose of Cipro.
Avatar f tn Cipro has a lot of side effects. Have you looked them up? I am not saying come off it but what you are experiencing could be from that. It stays in your system long after you take it. Are you still taking pain meds? I can't remember if Cipro causes constipation but pain meds do for sure. Are you taking any stool softeners to help? Ginger or peppermint tea help a lot with bloating as well as a heating blanket. When you mean blocked do you mean constipated blocked?
Avatar m tn Regarding the urinary tract infection It sounds like the organism causing the problem is getting resistant to the drug Cipro and you may need a new prescription. Also, Cipro may be causing you to throw up. it is possible you have a kidney infection still and it is causing pain that is radiating to the front.
Avatar f tn I do have pain in lower back, abdominal discomfort, pain with ejaculation, and pain in the testes that come and go (a lot of the symptoms come and go). 2. Avatar f tn The infection was still there so they gave me five days of Cipro and changed the stomach acid med. The bloodwork and xrays came back normal and they referred me for an ultrasound which who knows how long that will be! (I live in Canada) Now I'm finished the Cipro and still have all the same problems. So my question is: Is it OK to keep taking antibiotics if there not working? Should 2 courses of antibiotics fix an infection?
Avatar f tn Thus, it was decided that I had epididymitis. The urologist prescribed 5 days of cipro, infection came back. Then 7 days of cipro, infection came back. Then 4 weeks of cipro, which I completed 4 days ago. During the last week of the cipro, the only pain I had consisted of discomfort in the epididymal tail as well as a large lump on the spermatic cord of the testicle. These symptoms are still present after the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Went to ER a few days later with pain in the penile shaft and glans. Examined by ER doctor and put on 10 days cipro and 1 dose cefixime. Went back to doctor, put me on 21 days sulfatrim for suspected Epidimitis-ochitis and ordered US. US didn't show Epidimitis-ochitis. Went back to ER, doctor put me on 30 day Cipro. Pain is focused in the glans and reverberates down the shaft, the glans appears bigger than it used( be or perhaps the shaft is smaller than it used).
Avatar m tn Since then pain has been variable with weeks of not having any pain and then the pain returning. Yesterday I went to the urologist and he perscribed Cipro. I have some ligament pain normally and the serious warnings around Cipro and the fact the Bactrim didn't help me makes me unwilling to take Cipro.
Avatar n tn The mild pain was still there, so I went back and he did a exam of my testicles and said everything seem fine but he gave me a proscription for Cipro to take if the pain did not go away in a few days. Now I am taking Cipro and it has only been a four days and the mild pain is still there. The pain is so mild that I have to think about it for me to notice it, or I have rub my testicles to notice it. By no means are they tender to touch! How long does it take Cipro to work?
Avatar m tn I I narrowed down where it comes from is my ex and the solution that works for me is amoxcillian or augmentin. was symptom free for 6 months and had an encounter with my ex and back again with no drip but now I have bladder pain or prostate pain.
Avatar m tn The next morning I took another pill after breakfast and felt the same feelings come back. I looked at my penis in the bathroom and noticed that it was red and blotchy spots there. I thought maybe it was just the house cleaner used too much detergent. Later that day I took another pill of cipro. This time I noticed again after 30 minutes the sensation were strong and the itch burning.
Avatar n tn ” I’m not sure what that meant but he said I had prostatitis and gave me a 10 day cycle of cipro. The cipro took away all the symptoms in about 4 days. On the fifth day, I went back to the urologist for a cystoscopy to make sure the bladder was OK, which it was. I told him the cipro worked and he gave me 10 more days to be sure. After the 20 days, I felt good. About 3 days later, I had a day where I felt like it was coming back but it didn’t.
Avatar n tn Hello, I'm a 30 year old, heterosexual male. For a little more than two weeks, I have noticed mild pain on the right side of my penis (penile head), urge to urinate, and mild burning around the anus. The pain is not sensitive to the touch. Six months ago, I had a full STI test, including HSV 1 and 2, everything was negative. About a month ago, I received oral sex. That's the only sexual activity I've had.
Avatar n tn No painful urination or weird discharge, just pain in the testicles that shoots up into my abdomen, and swelling of the epididymis (obviously). I was tested for STDs (even though I'm celibate), and nothing was found. I also had an ultrasound, which came back normal. My doctor suspected random (endemic?) bacteria as the cause. I've had 2 rounds of 500mg Cipro twice a day. The first round was for 14 days, the second round was for 7. These two rounds were separated by a week.
Avatar f tn I went to a primary doctor and told her the symptoms and was diagnosed for a uti and giving cipro, after a couple days of taking cipro I started to get lower back pains (two weeks into the frequent urination) from there it shot up to my mid and higher back with random chills, the bad back pain lasted about 5 days after the 5 days the pain mellowed out but still currently feeling lower back pain. Took a urine culture and it came back negative.

Avatar m tn I feel like I am going crazy but I know this is all some how related. My back pain is not going away and the urine looks strange + all the other strange symptoms are still around.
Avatar n tn is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

Avatar m tn 9 days after exposure went to University clinic and explained situation and my fears. I had not had very many symptoms on the Cipro but was extremely stressed/anxious. Told to calm down and test anyway (although on antibiotics) Gon./Chlamydia test negative. 3. 15 days after possible exposure: I had been having terrible pain/discomfort symptoms with no discharge that kept me up all night. Called clinic again and told them suspected some form of urethritis.

I've been on two rounds of antibiotics since December, Bactrim and Cipro, and my symptoms have not gotten any better. Also bubbles in my urine. Other symptoms include "malignant hypertension," extreme fatigue, hair loss, night sweats, dizziness.
443434 tn?1255891233 I started cipro about a week ago and 3 days after starting it I began having ear pressure and pain. Doctor says it is not related to the Cipro and to take some decongestants. Do not have any stuffiness or anything just ear pain and feels like they need to pop and won't. After reading all these wondering if it is related???

Avatar m tn I did not know what it could have been until I started to have a lower back pain. I am prone to UTIs and figured I had the classic sign. I went to the ER and was given Macrobid, but that still did not work. I then was given Cipro last week, and I am still finishing up the medicine. The cramps are somewhat subsiding, and so is the lower back pain. I have been taking AZO Tablets an ibuprofen along with the Cipro The Dr does not suspect any of these symptoms to be related to a trich infection.
Avatar m tn Penicillin, ampicillin, cefotaxime are a similar drug class Cephaloporins and penicillin type drugs, and levofloxacin and cipro are also in their own drug class (quinolones) while vancomycin is a diffierent drug class. Let me know what I can help you with. Or if I answered your question.
