First thing...stop the Chantix. Yes, in many people even those with no history of major depression Chantix is proven to have the potential to cause depression. There are better ways to stop smoking than to alter your brain chemistry.

My physician said champix tablet can be used for 12w to quit smoking.but there is no representatives here in chennai to supply tablet and give counselling.if anyone knew pls help.

Hi My husband went on Champix for 2 1/2 months and he could have been on it longer but he was having severe side effects, he became very irratic with his personality and he bacame very nasty as times and was up all hours of the night sleep was not until 2AM sometimes.. he would not get off the meds because he thought I was making him aggitated and not the drugs. So I went to my Dr told her what was happening and she contacted his Dr who two weeks later took him off Champix.

I have heard many stories like mine and some worse. In the end, I quit smoking using Chantix and it worked for me but there are so many that have suffered from side effects that they have linked to the drug. Those who quit cold turkey will advocate it. The whyquit website supports a CT quit but you don't have to in order to read the articles. In the end, whatever method you choose, you have to commit to it and stay strong.

m not quite sure what your friend and her husband used, but if it was chantix/champix, then the success rate is 44%. I used Chantix to quit and it really worked great. Saying that, there are so many people who have experienced side effects, some severe, so make sure you do your homework on it. Most people that you tell truly want to see you succeed. The one who told you would not be able to succeed is probably bringing her own experience into your conversation.

I have tried to quit smoking many times. The patch wroked but could not get down to step 3. I just tried Champix this last 2 weeks, and altho it really helped make the smoking useless, the dizziness, nausia and extreme anxiety and panic for 2 weeks straight was all I could handle and I didnt take the pill last night or this morning. I am feeling better but really guys...Does anyone else have chest pain that lasts up to 3 hours? I do.

I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.

I have been feeling nauseous for the last month but I have been on champix to quite smoking, I have stoped smoking, but since the food poisoning I stoped champix, don't feel like smoking at all, I hate it. I am on cymbalta for fibromyalgia and extroin for thyroid. I have thought I might be post menopausal, but I am not too sure, have had no signs associated with that, and from what I know my mom started her menopause at 50 yrs old.

I dont drink and am not on any medication except champix to stop smoking. I have never experienced this before. I am a 53 year old male and drive for a living, so to suddenly "come to" after 2 hours of driving was a bit worrying.

There is also this tablet called Champix that I believe works well! It basically takes away the Craving for Nicotene... Be advised when you do stop ....

does anyone know if chantix is hard on the liver? im taking it to stop smoking before TX? anyone knows of anyone who took it does it work?

I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.

So your on both suboxone and chantix? Do you feel wierd or anything? Ive heard things about chantix like it causes nightmares and suicidle thoughts. Im kind of scared. Do you really feel good? How long have you been on suboxone?

Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute. When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit? I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.

My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?

Hi I am on Chantix to quit smoking and quit a few days ago. I am very tired so tierd that I cant even turn on the TV.. Is this a normal side effect from going off nicotine? This is the third day that has been like this. I was a heavy smoker before at 1 1/2 packs a day for 30 plus years.

I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. I quit smoking using Chantix as well. I am only 1 month non-smoking. I only took Chantix for 9 days as on the 9th day I found out i was pregnant. So I was non smoking and pregnant, to only two weeks later miscarry. I am not too sure if its from the hormones, or from the symptoms of not smoking, but i was extremely irritable, it was almost to the point that everything i that came out of my mouth was snappy. I developed insomnia right from the get go from Chantix.
