Common Questions and Answers about Difference between chantix and champix

chantix

Avatar m tn Theres and Refractory, I appreciate your insights. I went to see my doctor this morning and like I told him, "the good news is that I stopped smoking...the bad news is that I now feel like killing myself." (I'm being somewhat flip here, but my mood swings are like nothing I have ever encountered before). My doctor started me on zoloft today and referred me for counseling. Good luck to anyone going on Chantix.
Avatar f tn My physician said champix tablet can be used for 12w to quit smoking.but there is no representatives here in chennai to supply tablet and give counselling.if anyone knew pls help.
1546331 tn?1293737217 Thank you for your comment it makes sence but it is hell going through it with him. I quit two years ago and took Champix and did not have any side effects like he has and my doctor followed my closely and I was also in a local support group to help get me started to quit. But my Mr does not want to do any of those things nor admit that the withdrawl is making him nuts, no just blame it on me..lol.. I never thought I had or possessed such power over his mind.
427279 tn?1210919821 i was just wondering if any one here uses chantix and is it helping you?....
1327604 tn?1281866607 I have heard many stories like mine and some worse. In the end, I quit smoking using Chantix and it worked for me but there are so many that have suffered from side effects that they have linked to the drug. Those who quit cold turkey will advocate it. The whyquit website supports a CT quit but you don't have to in order to read the articles. In the end, whatever method you choose, you have to commit to it and stay strong.
Avatar f tn Hi Gee, Quitting smoking definitely has a big impact on energy levels and such but I did that close to 5 months ago. I mentioned quitting smoking only because I'd wondered if there was a potentially bad interaction between Champix and Synthroid. I don't know that I've developed any new hypo symptoms....
Avatar f tn m not quite sure what your friend and her husband used, but if it was chantix/champix, then the success rate is 44%. I used Chantix to quit and it really worked great. Saying that, there are so many people who have experienced side effects, some severe, so make sure you do your homework on it. Most people that you tell truly want to see you succeed. The one who told you would not be able to succeed is probably bringing her own experience into your conversation.
Avatar f tn He asked me why I was there. I had a sleep study and the sleep tech said there was no reason I should stop breathing at all. Even with the terrible nights sleep in the lab I had 2 central apneas and 1 obstructive. I responded to his question with that. Then he wanted to "work backwards" and I had to go over the last 5 years of medical history that led me to a sleep study.
Avatar f tn I have tried to quit smoking many times. The patch wroked but could not get down to step 3. I just tried Champix this last 2 weeks, and altho it really helped make the smoking useless, the dizziness, nausia and extreme anxiety and panic for 2 weeks straight was all I could handle and I didnt take the pill last night or this morning. I am feeling better but really guys...Does anyone else have chest pain that lasts up to 3 hours? I do.
Avatar f tn I saw my Dr right away and she confirmed there are no interactions between Chantix and Effexor. She felt that the nicotine withdrawls, combined with the side effects of the Chantix is what caused the severe anxiety.
Avatar f tn The research presented showed that as of this date there is absolutely no evidence to support a causal relasionship between Chantix and MS plus many of the other concerns listed. There is a minor causal relationship between Chantix and depression/suicidality but this association also exisits with many antidepressants to the same degree.
Avatar m tn I have a question for those of you who used the Chantix to kick the cigarettes. I have smoked on and off for years, and I have quit several times for long periods of time, but this time I am in need of some sort of assistance doing it (the thought of no cigarettes is worse for me than the thought of no norco ever was). I don't want to spend any more money on cigarettes, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, I always have, pretty weird for a smoker, huh?
1096641 tn?1271707225 I used Chantix and didn't have any complications. I have never heard of headaches related to Chantix and I just googled "chantix and headaches" which brought up several articles but there was nothing that links the two (mentions of Chantix and headache on the same page). Just wondering Terry where you heard/read it? My husband suffered from cluster headaches and they were nothing like the ones you describe. His were so intense and lasted sometimes for hours.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 42 yrs old, I missed my period by 2 days, and on the weekend I was rushed to the hospital for food poisoning, my white blood cell count is high, and I feel better 2 days after the food poisoning. So I am wondering if I could be pregnant. I know I am old and I know my changes are very low, and I am in a place in my life where I don't want this to happen. I have looked into lyme disease, and any blood diseases assosiated with high wbc.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello! I was also concerned about the depression and the Chantix affecting me, but my doctor said that the likelyhood of feeling suicidal or more depressed is quite remote, so I decided to give it a try and would quit if I felt awful. I know of a few people who used it and actually claimed to have become "homicidal" and felt extremely angry and violent. Both of these individuals were very, very heavy drinkers, and I am certain that is why Chantix affected them that way.
Avatar n tn 30 most days to go into work(1st job), and dont have a cigarette until noon. If I am at the 2nd job waking up at 3am, I can hold off until about 6am. My triggers: after I eat(trying to break that one), while driving(work related(2nd job), reposes cars, so the "hunt" adds to the craving as well), after arguing with friends and strangers, when adrenaline is up, drinking, while working on vehicles, and I think that's it.
Avatar f tn I have smoked for 40+ years and want to QUIT! My Dr gave me a script for Chantix but after seeing some Thyroid issues here I'm concerned. I have no Thyroid due to Follicular Thyroid Cancer, I take Levothyroxine daily for the rest of my life and have to have blood work every 6 months to maintain my TSH T3 T4 levels to prevent the cancer from returning. Is it safe for me to take CHANTIX?
729288 tn?1251254433 I will pay the $215 on monday for my shipment then I am waiting the 2 weeks suggested and beginning. Here is my question. I am also on chantix.. the stop smoking drug. I really need to stop because I think 27 years is long enough to smoke for anyone. Does anyone know if it will have any kind of reaction? My doc told me to go ahead it wouldnt hurt me.
444932 tn?1273980797 When I read on the Chantix quit line that if you failed the first time, to just keep taking your Chantix and set another quit date. So I did, and I will try, and maybe it will work, but I like what you did and can only hope that that is the way it will finally work for me too. That just little by little, over time, those urges WILL begin to fade and I can see that I'm smoking less and less and will just one day, like you say, "that's it!
1230229 tn?1447215761 I chewed nicotine gum throughout TX and doctors were completely unconcerned about that.
