Thank You for the encouragement. I get very leary when it comes to anything that might affect my thyroid levels plus I gained so much weight after my surgery because they had a hard time getting my levels corrected. I hope I don't gain weight because its taken me quite a while to lose some but not all of the weight from messed up metabolism.
my husband is planning on eventually getting the pill for quiting smoking..then plans on trying to lose weight. He's already so overweight, atleast 60++++? plus he's most likely diabetic. Ive heard that the pill is effective but also the side effects are bad... what should he do? he said everything else doesnt work. he's been smoking off and on since he was 14..he's now 37..any helpful ideas?
I was taking Chantix for about a week and a half when I had to quit it because I was experiencing depression which was getting worse by the day. This is going on the 2nd full day of no Chantix but I am still feeling depressed. I want to know how long does it stay in your system for. I woke up today and felt close to normal and then it came back again.
I would not think that Chantix would affect your thyroid, but everyone is different. Are you still taking Chantix? I am assuming not. ALso, I feel compelled to mention that I too had the symptoms you had, except for the trouble breathing, and my vitamin D level was extremely deficient. You may want to get that checked. That said, I plan on quitting smoking with help from CHANTIX. (I got them from my Doctor several weeks ago....while I was on my long taper from Hydro). The Dr. does not know about the hydro abuse, just the smoking (obviously). I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
As for the ultraound, no gallstones were mentioned, just a polyp inside the gallbladder, and a "puddle" of sludge under it, ducts appeared clear at that time, and hida scan tech said there wer no blockages he could see,every thing flowed thru. If the pinching feeling is mild, it feels as though I could itch it away, when its severe, heat/light pressure , like my own palm over my side feels good.
I tried to quit a few months, but it just was'ent the right time for me, I used Chantix and when I tried and only got through the starter pills, so I guess my question is do I need to go back to the Dr and get the starter pack again or are the pills the same?
Not that I'm pro Chantix, but allow me to play devils advocate for a minute.
When one contemplates quitting and then sets out to do it, there is a profound loss.....like losing your best friend, and we all have to deal with. I myself grieved long and hard. Could your depressed state be that you have finally come to terms with the fact that it is your time to quit?
I used Chantix and mourned the loss but I also used it before it was linked to "possible" suicide.
My friend just quit taking Chantix due to the inability to handle the side effects. She has noticed that since quitting the Chantix alcohol has effected her differently. While on the Chantix she noticed the effects of alcohol tokk in quite quickly where now she seems to have a tolerance that was not there before. Is it possible that theh Chantix caused her intolerabilty to alcohol?
i would def. get a second opinion. I went through the racing heart and the shakes and went to a doctor and was told that i needed to stop smoking. She put me through a bunch of lung tests and everything, only to be told "everything seems to be fine" then prescribed me chantix. to stop smoking! well i didn't take the chantix because i new something wasn't right!
I'm no doctor, just a man who has read way too many articles on fitness and tested a few out. What I've found the best way to lose weight is to find your maintenance level (you can find a rough calculator online) that will tell you about how many calories you burn in an avg day. Subtract around 250 calories and you've found your ideal calorie amount! Keep in mind you should take exercise into account as well. You should be shooting around -2 lbs a week.
