Last night I looked up Chantix side effects on the web and found HUNDREDS of people with problems like mine that persist long after they stopped taking the pill. Many people in their thirties that just had a heart attack one day out of the blue (this is what I am most afraid of happening to me) Does anyone know how to undo the damage that chantix is causing?
Your friend may not having a heart attack (heart muscle cell damage often necrosis) due to ischemia (lack of blood flow), but if the heart cells are not receiving enough blood they may not immediately die as in a heart attack. However, ischemia can permanently damage heart cells over a period of time. Having chest pain (angina) is an indiction the heart is not receiving enough blood and shoold be treated.
I started having problems in Oct 2008 after taking Chantix for about a month. I quit taking the meds because I had a really bad reaction to it. I was angry, very emotional and thought of suicide. I have never been this way before and didn't like so I stopped the med. About a month later I had an episode where I was having slurred speech (alot) and I would drive to work and then sit there and think "how did I get here". I couldnt remember driving. This lasted or about a month.
yes for chantix ..but they wont give me a prescription until all my other tests come back they told me that demtlying (i know i spelled it wrong) cannot be entitly excluded ...i had the spine vep ..
t get too worked up from fear of a heart attack, my back and chest hurt every time I try to go to sleep, but damn does it feel good just to lay down, when I'm with my girlfriend, I can hardly breathe and not based on some sentiment involving her beauty, I'm just happy to be alive and next to her when I am. that's all I think I need to say.
I have tingeling and numbness on the left side of my head i'm always freaking out about it and some times i feel like i'm having a heart attack i feel like i'm going crazy everyone keeps telling me it anxiety but how are u suppose to make yourself beleive that? I've been like this for awhile now and seems like now my panicking is getting worse especially since i've stopped smoking!

but, the Chantix reference was just an example, I never took Chantix, but learned about it's side effects during my research
Once more, my father has had a few small heart attacks, I believe was diagnosed with heart disease and as of 2009 suffered heart attack that should have killed him. This is absolutely insane that with all that I know, I can't quit!!!! NRT's I think is a bad idea, replacing nicotine from a cigarette with other methods doesn't rid one of the desire to smoke. Anyone out there like me? If so, have you quit and how did you do it?
Good Job. I took Chantix too, for 1 month. Had a small heart attack in June, and had a stint put in. I didn't think I would need anything to stop smokiing, but my family seemed to think I would. The only side effect I had, still have, is lack of taste. My sense of taste is screwed up. Found out that 8% of the people who take Chantix will have this problem. I hope this clears up soon, it's ticking me off. Hope you don'tget this side effect. Good Luck.
I went a couple of days without and when I get a craving that will not let go I will smoke a half of cig. Now my problem is when I smoke my heart starts to race and it brings on an attack. Has anyone else have this when trying to quit or anxiety just for smoking period?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. My husband thinks I am just going nuts.
I took chantix for 1 1/2 months and experienced a little gas but that was all. I quit taking chantix 3 days after my last cigarette and that was 9 months 1 week and 4 days ago.
I think I should consider myself one of the lucky ones as all I hear on this board is how bad chantix was for them! Outside of this board, I knew a dozen or so people who took it, and none of them had anything more serious then gas and bad dreams!

You say your fiance took Chantix. There is a recent post on the smoking forum by *mariabl* who took Chantix and is having some similar issues. You may want to look up her post if not for anything other than comfort in knowing your fiance is not alone. mariabl also describes the heart pounding and constant headache. Maybe y'all could talk?
I smoked for 38 years and I decided to give Chantix a try. So many people were singing its praises. Well, its been 1 year and 1 month since I put that last smoke to my mouth.
Given your other problems you might want to try the patch. If you can, cold turkey is probably the best way. The physical withdrawals only last 3 days.
