Celexa withdrawal nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa withdrawal nausea

celexa

Avatar n tn Does withdrawal from Celexa cause nausea & vomiting? I quit taking it cold turkey 5-6 days ago. While I realize this is not a good idea, it was not intentional. I called my pharmacy for a refill. They said I had no refills left and they would call my doctor for it. Unfortunately, this was over the weekend. Apparently, my doctor's office did not respond to the pharmacy's request.
Avatar f tn After taking Celexa (generic) for a little less than a year, I decided to quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago. Although I know weening from medication is the best idea, I wanted off Celexa quickly. I have had the usual withdrawal symptoms you'd expect (dizziness, nausea, headache, etc) but what I did not expect was the symptoms of restless leg syndrome. It is TERRIBLE. Is it possible to get RLS symptoms because of Celexa withdrawal or do you think it's unrelated?
Avatar n tn I have never been on Celexa myself, but I have read many posts regarding withdrawal from it and it seems to take people a month or two to feel completely normal. If you put Celexa up in "Search Medhelp" you can read other posts specific to your question. Everyday should get a little better. Take care.......
Avatar f tn i was on it for about the same amount of time as you, i did wean also. but i still had withdrawal for several weeks. the stomach pain and nausea were the worst. hang in there, it will go away. take care.

Avatar n tn Withdrawal symptoms are truely terrible...I don't know how gradually you stopped, but it should have been over three weeks, with the last dose being the smallest possible every other day before you stop...if you didn't do that, then try to take smallest dose you can take every other day, along with klonopin, and when you withdrawal symptoms stop, then keep it up for one more week, then stop.
Avatar m tn It could be either one of them. Yes, it could be withdrawal and may go away soon. Or, it could be that you need the meds. It's really hard to say how long withdrawal will last. We're all so different and some of us have almost no withdrawal symptoms after tapering and go on to feel just fine with no depression. It's up to you of course if you want to start back on your meds. I understand what a hard choice it can be.
497348 tn?1283436066 Some patients may experience withdrawal reactions upon stopping citalopram.
497348 tn?1283436066 Since this post, have you started taking the celexa? I took it for one month two months ago. The only symptoms I had were trouble sleeping and I could not orgasm. It helped me with anxiety though and when I got angry, I did not get as agitated as usual. I then tried zoloft and experienced the same symptoms only worse insomnia and I didn't feel like it helped my anxiety. Oh, and I did not have withdrawl symptoms.
Avatar f tn s for 5+ years for OCD and she has always had troublesome side effects. She is now on Celexa, the side effects seemed to be better in the beginning, but not anymore. She experiences terrible thoughts and twitching feelings in her legs and arms. We are wanting to take her off SSRI's completely, but we are worried about the withdrawl symptoms. Can anyone tell us what to expect and just how you were able to stop an anti-depressant? P.S.
Avatar n tn I was taking celexa 20 mg for 4 months and it was the first med that ever helped my depression significantly. However, I was experiencing severe side effects, myalgia (mostly in my left leg) nausea, headaches, tired all the time, so I decided to cut my dose to 10 mg and then stop. About 2 days after I cut down I start experiencing severe withdrawal that I have never experienced coming off any other depression med, and I have been on many. My Dr. said to stop taking it all together.
1154945 tn?1262238945 Ok, I took Celexa for many months but eventually wanted to shy away from it because I did not like being on medicine. It made me feel really good and very happy, but there was an also accompanying high, sexual problems, and I did a lot of things I should not have and did not care that I did them. I ended up quitting because I did not want to keep taking the medicine every night, and it made my stomach quite upset when all I wanted to do was go out and have fun at night.
Avatar f tn first, everyone has a different experience stopping these meds -- some suffer a horrible withdrawal, and some have a very easy time. To ease the withdrawal the taper should be tailored to the person -- as slow as you need, or if it's easy, you can go faster.
Avatar f tn In January, my MD directed me on how to wean myself from Effexor XR...so I could begin a generic form of Celexa. My God. If this is what withdrawal is like, I am fortunate that I never abused drugs. Hot flashes and sweats; the zinging in my head that I've read others describing, crying, nausea. Happily, the drug-related constipation has ended. Dizzyness and then a BAD migraine - and a ride from work to the ER. I tapered off with weekly decreases...dropped to 150mg for one week...
Avatar n tn i have been taking zoloft for about 9 days 50 mg and prior to this i was on celexa i now at night sweat my heart pounds and legs shake and twitch how long does this last and is it normal?
Avatar n tn It's been almost a month now I have not taken celexa. I am currently taking klonopin as prescribed to help me with my panic and agoraphobia. It definately does wonders and helps a lot! But these withdrawl symtpoms from the celexa are just too much! I mean they aren't as severe as they were, but I have tingling, numbness throughout my body and rushes of dizziness and nausea is the worst.
Avatar n tn I been on 40mg of celexa and 1 mg a day of klonopin for almost a year now due to panic attacks. Which helped me a great deal. I decided to wean myself off of celexa and I did it very gradually and the correct way according to my doctor. I stopped taking it almost a week ago. I been going through absolute torture! I never experienced something like this before.
Avatar n tn Instead of giving me beta blocker to take before performances, which is what I expected (and should have gotten), she diagnosed me as having generalized anxiety disorder and put me on low-dose Celexa (10 mg/day). I had horrible side effects (mostly gastrointestinal and sleep disturbances) but I kept with it as she indicated, for 6 months.
Avatar f tn t noticed any changes yet. Previously I was taking Welbutrin, depakote and celexa. I have asked her to put me back.on celexa for anxiety since I dont want to take a narcotic for it like xanax. Has anyone else been on this combination and how long did it take to start leveling out??
Avatar m tn I had a change of shift and forgot to take my Effexor 150 XR and the next day I was so dizzy and I was nauseous that I was afraid to take it I stayed home from work and every thime I moved I got dizzy and it seemed to be getting worse. When I didn't throw up that day I took the Effexor the next morning still feeling dizzy, slugish and such after a couple of hours all the symptoms went away.
Avatar n tn ssri withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal. Doesn't have to be, but some are hit very hard by it. You seem to be one of those. Never stop these cold turkey. If you can't handle the withdrawal, go back on the last dose of Celexa at which you felt fine and taper down as slowly as you need to.
Avatar f tn That is a very interesting story, going cold turkey on Celexa and not having withdrawal side effects. For anyone reading, do not do this because the withdrawal mental effects can be unnecessarily agonizing and pointless. In your case, you had no choice the way you describe it, so I am not passing judgement. What was your dose? You should talk to a pharmacist immediately though for information.
