Celexa tapering schedule

Common Questions and Answers about Celexa tapering schedule

celexa

Avatar n tn If I go off Celexa, does anyone have any tips for a tapering off schedule that reduces side effects? I would like to start going off now, but I am about to take finals, so I do not want side effects messing with my grades. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Started to feel extreme anxiousness in the mornings, and blamed the zoloft so I asked my doctor to get off it and she gave me a tapering schedule, once off that I will begin tapering off the klonopin (using buspar---not as addictive as other benzos, so dr said). Hoping I can try to work my way through these attacks without medicine. Are you suppose to take celexa for anxiety. Is the anxiety severe enough? All you can do is try and see if it works for you. If not, tell dr..
Avatar f tn My doctor says the only way to get off klonopin is to slowly lower the dose. I know that! I need an actual tapering schedule in amounts so that I don't have side-effects.(or am I going to get those anyway?) My doctor acts like it's no big deal. Klonopin has been all I have taken for the last 3 years to control my panic disorder. It worked for the insomnia, also. I tapered down to 1 1/2 mgs a day from 2, a short time ago.
Avatar m tn t change anything until you talk to him and he can give you a tapering off schedule. If you should need medication in the future....make sure you see a psychiatrist as they are most knowlegable when it comes to these types of meds. Hope this helped and best wishes.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Your psychiatrist may be tapering you off this because a person can build up a tolerance to it. Celexa is of course an anti-depressent so it can easily make the manic aspect of bipolar worse. As regarding medications, the first step is to follow your psychiatrist's exact instructions for tapering off the Klonopin as even if you do it properly there will be some withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Celexa for about 1 1/2 years now. I have not been myself for the last 4-5 months, crying easily, tempermental, foggy, tired, exhausted. I decided I couldn't live like this anymore, it was effecting my life, my relationships, my kids, my job so I decided to quit taking them. Now I'm having withdrawal symptoms. I'm extremely angry, exhausted, dizzy, nausea, numb feeling, how long with this last.
433485 tn?1321813390 I am currently on 100 mg of seraquel at night and 1 mg of klonopin tid, 200 mg of lamictal, 100 mg of wellbutrin and now down to 40 mg of celexa, tapering slowing down from 80. eventually off of wellbutrin as that and celexa do seem to be doing anything for me ( we think). does anyone think that with the taper I could be having some rebound anxiety as my body is adjusting to less amounts of celexa? thanks. I have been doing really well but noticing a little anxiety creeping back in.
983594 tn?1249672009 I am on a tapering schedule of 40mg for 2 days, then 30mg for 2 days, then 20mg for 2 days then 10mg for 2 days and then CT. Let me know If you have any other tapering schedules that you feel fits better than this. But if not, I am going to stick with this, keep posting on this forum (because all of you have been a godsent) and I am going to try out the amino acids. Thank you all for your support in doing this, we are all here for the same reason....
1288270 tn?1301287612 Stopping these medications cold turkey can cause many more problems than it is worth in my opinion. Why not go back to your prescribing doctor and ask about a tapering schedule? Why are you coming off of the Lexapro?
Avatar n tn I told my GP today and she told me to stop using it. I was wondering what a good tapering schedule would be for taking this drug only 2 weeks. I don't want to stop cold turkey. Also, I have been on Lorazepam for 16 weeks (1 mg daily) and want to get off it, which I know will take longer than LXPRO. Any advice?
Avatar f tn My Doctor is switching me from Paxil due to hypertension reasons as well as half life...to Celexa. How should I go about tapering off Paxil and getting on Celexa. I take 5mgs of Paxil twice a day. My Dr. has given me 10mg of Celexa..
Avatar n tn I'm trying to reduce (or quit) my celexa. I was taking 20 mg/day for the last 7 years (post-partum). I started taking 1/2 a pill (10mg) on Saturday and have continued that for the last 5 days. I am much calmer and am sleeping a lot better. However, my short-term memory is bad and I feel stoned most of the time. This is causing problems with my job as I need to interface with customers on a daily basis. Is there something I can do to eleviate these symptoms?
Avatar f tn Yeah thats quite a bit of Percocet...sorry I misunderstood. Well hopefully you can figure out a good tapering schedule that fits your needs. And like I wrote above...if you have someone to help and distribute your meds according to the schedule...it does help a lot.
Avatar m tn I think the slower you take the tapering the better. Good luck. Glad the celexa is working for you and you arent having to try diff meds.
Avatar f tn Hey, how is it going. It's been a while since you posted this but wonder what happened with this.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing dizziness/lightheadness, nauseousness, and extreme headaches for the past several days since I stopped taking celexa. I was taking 40 mg but was sleeping 12 hours a day which I thought was due to the medication so I started taking half of the pill. I saw no improvements over several weeks and I figured the costs outweighed the benefits. So I started taking 1/4 of the pill for around a week and then quit all together.
Avatar m tn I believe so yes taking too SSRIs at the same time can cause serotinine syndrome.
4676475 tn?1357862304 Virtually all antidepressant are unsafe to take while pregnant, so it's good to check. But keep in mind you can't just quit taking these meds -- they are not easy to quit taking and need to be tapered off of to minimize the fallout.
Avatar f tn You may have to taper off Klonopin yourself. Your Dr really should put you on a tapering schedule but he seems to not be very cooperative.
433485 tn?1321813390 I had a horrible episode that started right before the holidays of anxiety. I am on 80 mg of celexa, 100 mg of wellbutrin, 50 mg of lamicatal 50 mg of seraquel ( at night ) and 2 mg. of klonopin tid ( upped from .5 tid before episode , also the lamictal and seraquel were added and wellbutrin dropped from 300 mg a day to 100). My question is this: I started feeling better and my pdoc and I decided to drop the klonopin to 1 mg in the am, 1/2 mg. in the afternoon, and 1 mg. in the evening.
1425157 tn?1311651679 Just to clarify, the only cross-tapering I know of is using Prozac. Zoloft isn't weaker than Celexa and both have a very short half-life compared to most meds. Prozac is the only ssri with a relatively long half-life. Of course, whether cross tapering actually works at all is another question and probably very individual. Just wanted to say this, because Zoloft is a very potent med and potency itself is very individual, depending on how well a particular individual metabolizes it.
763297 tn?1281379425 I have been on depression meds for 2 years and im TTC but I can't just quit them suddenly because of the terrible withdrawl I have experienced in the past. I could whean off but im on 20 mgs of Celexa and it might take a while. Should I stay on it if im pregnant? I don't know what to do. Any advice would be great!
