Common Questions and Answers about Celexa menopause

celexa

Avatar f tn I have been taking Celexa for 2 years now. I have noticed that I clinch my teeth at night, and keep thinking the same thoughts over and over again, when I am trying to go to sleep. I have had crazy dreams since I first started taking Celexa, but figured that the calming effects outweighed the dreams,so I continued to take it. In the beginning, I had a dimished sex drive, but now I don't want it at all.
492898 tn?1222243598 mostly mood swings, some depression and low sex drive. I was doing really well on this combination. I was just diagnosed in October with LCIS and had to stop the hormones. I'm having hot flashes and the other symptoms are really effecting me more. My oncologist will probably start me on tamoxifen in February and I will definitely discuss this with him. I'm still learning about this condition and I am so grateful for the information and help I get from the wonderful women on this forum!
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Celexa? If so can you please share your experience with it. How many mg are you or did you take? Did it help with anxiety? How long was the adjustment period (did it increase your anxiety)? Did you gain or loss weight? Please share your experience with Celexa. Thank you for your advice!
433485 tn?1321813390 s when my shrink, whom I love, starting adjusting and adding/deletin meds. I guess it was probably when I hit menopause. Anyway, now the symptoms have come back and my meds have been adjusted again. I am on Celexa 60 mg. Klonopin .5 tid, Wellbutrin 200 mg and Abilify 2mg ( at night). I feel like I am on too many meds...I also take Estrogen and Provera ( I tried to quit those cold turkey...not a good idea I can tell you).
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know Celexa, lexapro and Sertraline both gave me night sweats. They are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Effexor is an SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I think since they both inhibit serotonin, that most likely is the reason you're sweating. The effect for me didn't lessen with time, it was every night for as long as I took them.
446896 tn?1237802742 Took a month to start working but one day I caught my self whistling. I had a friend that also took it during Menopause.
1243620 tn?1274790697 Does anyone else have some kind of hormonal imbalance that's causing anxiety? I can't get my period at all unless I'm taking birth control. I'm not on birth control right now, and around the time of the month I *should* be getting my period, I become extremely anxious, depressed, even suicidal. I'm not sure what would help this. I've got some Ativan here, some Celexa, and two kinds of birth control and I'm trying to decide which one to take.
644988 tn?1236364548 For the past few months I've been suffering from regular/frequent hot flushes. These are mostly at night but can happen anytime. I become really hot and uncomfortable, I break out in a sweat and it can last anything from minutes to half an hour. I don't think it's a menopause thing. I'm on quite a lot of meds and I'm hoping someone out there with plenty of knowledge might help me pin it down. Currently I'm taking: Citalopram 40mgs (3yrs), Quetiapine 50-100mgs (2.
Avatar f tn Lucky for me I had no problem at all getting off the Effexor. I did it on my own. I took out about ten grains every day for the first the first week, 20 grains each day the second week and so on. It was a capsule and it took patience and good eyesight. I had no withdrawal whatsoever. I took 1mg of klonopin 2x a day for panic disorder with GAD. It worked great. When I tried lowering the Klonopin my panic attacks returned. I think menopause has a lot to do with it.
Avatar n tn B12 is actually a little too high ( because i swill vitamins i think) D is OK Female hormone panels show low estrogen/High FSH levels so definitely there as far as meno...(NO it doesn't help does it?) The drugs and meno are making me fat which doesn't help, yet when i try to switch to something else pain is unbearable...
11852 tn?1216841443 Just got from the endo. Good news is all my scans came back clean, so it looks like I'm cancer-free. I would be doing the happy dance, but I'm too dam tired to really care. Sad isn't it! Doc ask me how I was feeling and I told her about the extreme fatigue I've felt for a long time. I asked if there could be other causes besides thyroid history and the menopause. Her theory is I'm depressed and Effexor (taking for hot flashes) isn't working.
Avatar f tn This pregnancy has givin me horrible headachs every afternoon and i have been relieving them with 5mg to 10mg of viocodin per day. In addition, she put me on 10 mg of celexa per day for my anxiety and horrible mood swings...could be result of menepause..who knows. Is this safe??
Avatar f tn and...if you are approaching menopause or even peri-menopause, your Doc should be reminded of this fact also.
433485 tn?1321813390 I am currently seeing both a pdoc and a therapist. My depression was managed for years up until about 2 years ago. Now it has been a constant rollercoaster of meds and diagnosises( GAD, mood disorder?). I am currently taking 100 seraquel, at night, in am 200 lamictal, 1 mg of klonapin tid, 60 mg of celexa and 100 welbutrin. I know that is a lot of meds but my pdoc and therapist don'e seem to think so.
717272 tn?1277590780 Nurse finally figured out today that my Lexapro interacts with my interferon and crashes platelets even worse. I took Celexa for a little while, platelets dropped. Started taking it again and they really dropped. Stopped it, went up. Started Lexapro and they dropped. Went to half dose and they went up. I mentioned interaction to the nurse long ago. Celexa & Lexapro are almost the same drug.
Avatar m tn Hello! I am a 45 year old female I weigh 300 lbs. The past month or two I have been swelling terribly in my ankles and feet. Also, my calves are very red along with the tops of my feet. About two months ago I was put on hydrochlorothazide 50mg per day, lipitor 10 mg per day & celexa. This is when I noticed the swelling. I also take hydrocodone 10/325 for break thru pain and 70 mg of methadone for pain. Didrex to help lose weight.
1166402 tn?1303847056 Lexapro is a metabolite of Celexa... it's ''the new Celexa''. Supposed to have less side-effects for that matter. Just think of the tricyclic nortriptyline being the major active metabolite of amiltrityline which makes nortriptyline a second generation tricyclic.
222417 tn?1241564300 Hi Again. I was wondering if anyone on this board is on Celexa { Citalopram}. And could they tell me how it feels? I mean do you feel better? As I am supposed to start soon on this medication. Right now I am on Anafranil and klonopin. Dr has decided to try this medication to see if it will make me better because right now I am not. And also how long before I can take Celexa because I am still on Anafranil. I take 50mgs once a day in the night time.
396332 tn?1320003615 I was wondering for any of you that have ever taken celexa....Can you actually feel celexa or is it just like zoloft where you dont notice it at all. Also what are some side effects you experianced?
Avatar m tn I have been on Celexa 20mg for about 6 weeks. My doc has upped it to 30mg...what side effects should I expect?
4548569 tn?1356292637 I have been taking 20 milligrams of generic Celexa for about 4 months to treat anxiety and depression. I was apprehensive to try Celexa because I had heard so many bad things about it. However, within a short time after taking it I noticed a huge improvement in both my depression and anxiety. I am very happy with the Celexa. One problem I am having though is that I have changed as a person and I suspect it is from the Celexa.
Avatar m tn I have been on Celexa for about 5 years and went off it a month ago. Started not to feel right and resumed the dosage I had been on at 60mg. I became a nervous wreck (sweats, panic etc) and then i realized I probably should have started back at a lower dose. Would starting at 60mg after not using it for a month cause me to have these very nervous feelings?
Avatar f tn Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this. I've been on celexa for about 3 months started at 20mg now at 40 mg. I have been seeing a lot of benefits. However I used to be on cymbalta and no matter how much I went to the gym I couldn't lose weight. I am fixing to start working out again and trying to eat healthier. Does anyone know if celexa hinders weight loss with proper diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn I started taking celexa five days ago after going to my doctor for a f/u and completely breaking down bawling like a baby (my mom was just diagnosed with acute leukemia). On day two, I developed a severe headache and very stiff neck. I have had migraines in the past that originate in my neck/shoulder area. So, I thought I was getting a migraine like I've had in the past...I started doing all the things that have worked to relieve the pain before (massage, advil, heat, ice, rest, etc.
