is celexa just for depression?? or does it also help with anxiety's?? is this one on the bottom of the list?? like zoloft,paxil,lexapro,prozac..this is in the same category as these others....please explain this??
Lilymoon is absolutely right. Usually it takes effect starting about 3 weeks afterwards. Most common initial side effects are nausea, indigestion and sleepiness, but they usually go away after a few weeks. Personally Celexa did absolutely nothing for me, but I know several people for whom it works great. It's the first-line drug for a reason - it's the least dangerous anti-depressant, with the least chance of side-effects. Don't worry, just try it and see how it goes.
After searching for the right combination of medicine for my bipolar illness because I was often non-compliant to my medication regimen due to weight gain, I found the right mix with Wellbutrin/Geodon. However, though I lost weight on the combination ( I weighed 107 pounds on a 5'1" frame), I was diagnosed with an eating disorder (anorexia with binge eating).
My dog was vomiting about 1 month ago and lethargic. I took him to the emergency vet clinic and they did an Xray, which was inconclusive. They sent me to a specialist center to have an ultrasound done. The specialist looked at him and felt that the Xray was inconclusive due to bad technique and recommended leaving him overnight for observation. He didn't vomit, they put him on some bland food and he seemed to improve over the next week or so.
Then, he began urinating in the house.
Find a trustworthy website or two and look at the med. sheets. Are you on this medication for bingeing and purging, or for some other reason?
It is true that some people go through a stage of bingeing when they are in recovery from anorexia. The body is malnourished and is trying to get what it needs to restore itself and its functioning. Also, the fact that you started puking to control your weight could be another reason.
Agree with Funwithsharpes and the Celexa weight gain. But myself & an acquaintance gained 30+lbs within 3 mos. The company site denies weight gain but it is used for individuals with anorexia & bulimia. It is almost impossible to lose. I have found most antidepressents to be sedative; which causes inactivity; leads to weight gain. I started a new diet & Pritiq at the same time; finally losing weight. I can't say which has more effect.
Hi, I have been prescribed celexa for my anxiety problems which were chest pains, dizzyness, loss of concentration etc. I have been on 20 mg now for about a month and a half and I was wondering how long it takes for a case like mine to recover and finally come off celexa. Also one weird thing ive noticed is that my eye is twitching a lot which is the only side effect I have from this drug. Will it go away? Anyone else taking celexa for anxiety?
You should not take reductil and celexa...see list at bottom of this note. If you are desperate to lose weight and keep it off there are much better ways. You say Been prescribed Celexa but Doc is considering that I might have bipolar 2, is the same doc who has prescribed celexa the one to have concluded BP2 or for instance you were prescribed celexa by a GP then your pdoc told you to stop it as you may have BP2.
Incidentally all pharm companies marketing antidepressants say they don't drive people manic yet they do.
My doctor thinks so and prescribed some Ativan and Celexa. I think I fell the affects of the Celexa because I feel like Im in a good mood most of the time. Im still having chest pains and my heart rate will increase for no apparent reason. Sometimes both hands will turn purple colors now. So Celexa has helped my mood but not my symptoms. Whats wrong with me?

t happen over night and doing it right will keep it off longer... With anorexia the second you start to eat your body holds in everything including the fat because it knows you will starve it again. Also when you stop eating your body will start to eat itself (including your muscles). You can do this hun... keep it up and persevere.
Your step-father is not only wrong, he is emotionally abusive. You are on a very dangerous path and need to get help for your eating disorder. Yes, that is what it is. You are showing anorexic symptoms and it will only get worse. Talk to a counselor at school, your doctor, or another trusted adult and have them refer you to a therapist experienced with eating disorders. Your ED is related to how you feel about yourself and you need help working through both so you can go on to live a good life.
